This place really is an oasis. Come off the busy street into what feels like a farm, and then into the hotel itself. The beautiful rooms surround a large lawn, and close by are the temples. And the whole feeling is one of peace. The hotel itself is best described as understated, or informal, semi-luxury. Everything just happens. Ask for...

We arrived at Deo Bagh about 11.30pm our train having been delayed by 2.5hrs - and were most grateful that dinner had been kept for us! It was served in our room within about 15 minutes of our arrival, and was a full thali with salad starters, 6 or 7 dishes with rice and roti, and dessert - all delicious...

Its such a beautiful property and well maintained although partially maintained they can do a better job. The place is just breath taking and feels like you have been transported to another era. The sad part which was not expected from a brand like Neemrana was skimping on food quality. The juice was from farm oranges and completely watered down....

My husband and I stayed at Neemrana's Deo Bagh during our recent visit to Gwalior. This hotel is about 4 years old but not every taxi/ auto driver is aware of its location. The hotel is located at a distance from the busy road so the noise of traffic is muffled. The hotel is very cleverly built in sympathy with...

The best room is the 17th Century “Sahkya Raja Mahal” Suite. It is not expensive and absolutely fabulous. We could barely tear ourselves away from the ancient bed with its draped hangings, the thick walls, many netted wide opening “French” doors leading onto a cantilevered stone surrounding balcony of ancient design. The bathroom was huge with a free standing claw...

This is a very impressive place to stay and I personally think that the rate per night is a total bargain! 17th Century establishment with beautiful gardens where many birds visit including peacocks and an abundance of chipmunks! I was in my own little world and thoroughly well looked after by all of the staff. They were so kind and...

This is an excellent and beautiful place to stay right in the middle of noisy and bustling Gwalior. The grounds are gorgeous and the history situated there is extraordinary! I recommend the Deo Bagh without hesitation!

We chose Gwalior this time around just to visit Deo Bagh. The major sights and sounds of Gwalior already been explored, our idea was to have a quiet weekend. Deo Bagh offered us the perfect setting. Beyond the well-kept rooms, fine restaurant, tranquility and vast expanse of greenery, this Neemrana property is also about exploring history on foot. With a...

I loved my all-too-brief stay at Deo Bagh. The former summer home of the aristocratic Jadhav family has been converted by Neemrana into a heritage hotel. The rooms are built around two sides of a "nau-bagh" - a nine-sectioned garden - across which peacocks and rollers and lapwings and other birds flit. The property itself has so much to explore...

This is one of the best property that you can be at if you are looking for peace and tranquility although it is located in the center of the city, the moment you enter the gates of Deobagh, you are all together in a different world- A world which is far far away from the maddening crowd and the hustle...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Awaken history in a Char-bagh where Mughal emperors once camped ! History has it that in the late 1500 AD important Mughals camped in this “char bagh” with a stunning chhattis-dari (36-pillared pavilion) at its heart. This shielded the women in its underground chamber during the summer. Later, as the conquering Maratha army marched towards Delhi, the Jadhavs took possession of this natural water catchment area. Sardar Deorao Bhausaheb Jadhav and his son Sardar Krishnarao Deorao Jadhav used this 'bagh' as a summer house with the ladies’ section in Deo Bagh and the mens’ section in Jai Vihar, the family's current home. The garden complex houses the most exquisite family temples, a ‘hathi khana’ for elephants, stables and cenotaphs. Important Gwalior State meetings, especially against the British – when the valiant Rani of Jhansi fought from the fort rampart close by, were held here during that time. After India’s independence, this has been the home of Sardar Deorao Krishnarao Jadhav, his son Sardar Dhananjayrao Deorao Jadhav and his wife the Ranisaheba, since 1954 when they left their ancestral Lakshmi Vilas Rajwada. ... more   less
