full of warmth, culture, traditions, security, safety, nature, birds... delicious food, yummy Indian deserts... big old style rooms... so much of history and interesting stories... quaint sit outs to chill and read... ideal to visit during autumn winter and spring... like a few days in the 17th century. Safety everywhere and very peaceful sleep.

we liked our time here. The owners are friendly and try to really take care of you. food is simple but good. the prices are all inclusive. Its smack in the middle of old Gwalior but once you get in you'd never be able to tell that its in the middle of chaos. The property is a large estate and...

A quiet calming place in the midst of the organized chaos and sensory overload that is outside. The hosts are helpful and guiding without being intrusive. The rooms are huge with a separate indoor as well as outdoor sitting area and a large bathroom. The accommodation is bigger than many peoples houses. one certainly need the hosts help in getting to...

I have just returned from a 3-day stay at Sambhaji Vilas and I must say the property is exquisite, the staff is polite and painstaking and the hosts are very gracious, especially the young scion of the family who is extremely friendly, and ably handled the personal interactions very well. However I was disappointed with the food as the very...

I hate to break a five star run for anywhere, and I have no negative feels about Sambhaji, but it was a slightly odd experience for me. My situation was different from other reviewers in that I was in Gwalior for 1 night alone, just stopping to see the fort before continuing on. I'm interested in Indian history so thought...

Gosh, it is difficult to find, and I still don't know which part of Gwalior I really was in, but it is worth it. You are admitted into a world that an average middle class European hardly meets. The Angre family has lovingly preserved the family property over centuries and now allows paying guests to share their pride and enjoyment....

I read the reviews on Tripadvisor, saw the photos and frankly, I was afraid this place would be so way above my budget that I would not be able to afford it. I had no booking, so when my rikshah driver could not find it although he often asked, I was about to give up, but something kept me looking...

This beautiful old mansion had the nicest room we ever stayed in. It was a suite, asctually with a beautiful sitting room. The air was brisk so they had a heater going when we arrived. The antique cars were a gas! We had breakfast and dinner here and felt like we were royalty. The gardens are beautiful and the setting...
