I used to stay in this hotel while doing a Bordeaux chateau tour. The restaurant was poor and room noisy. Since the new owners came (jean christof and Francoise), they changed windows which make the room amazingly quiet. I have also been surprised by the jean christof wine knowledge and the local chateau network he got. That changed my chateau visit. Last but not least, the restaurant table has improved big time as everything is now made out of fresh ingredient.

All in all, it is now a good adress for a decent price that I will probably revisit...

This is a OK low cost hotel but not more then that. The room are of low class and are not well maintained the last 10 years or so but are clean. Plus for free and very fast Wi-Fi at the hotel. Pool area with child pool as well. The hotel restaurant is better then the hotel and so are also the breakfast. But you get a ok room and a good restaurant for quite little money so I still think it´s - OK all in all / Mikael & Biljana on bicycling vacation in Medoc/Bordeaux region.

The boss and his employees are a young team very welcoming and the atmosphere of the hotel is quiet with garden and pool. Their cuisine is a treat with the freshest products, I advise you to taste "the lamb" that melts in your mouth. The head sommelier will help you discover small producers to rare wines and typed. Finally, the boss will be good advice for a tour of the chateaux of Bordeaux.

We spent a night at Le Pont Bernet and overall it was a fairly disappointing experience. I'm not sure if it was ever a great hotel, but at this point it's definitely past its prime and is a below-average hotel. Maintenance and cleanliness were the two most obvious areas of struggle, but it also didn't help that they do tacky things like "rent" you pool towels for a Euro apiece. Speaking of the towels, if TripAdvisor ever starts a contest for "Coarsest Hotel Towels," I hereby nominate Le Pont Bernet, whose towels were so rough and grating that waiting around to air-dry was preferable. The walls are fairly thin, such that you could tell whenever a neighboring room had the TV on. The only reason I gave the property two stars is that they redeemed themselves slightly with their breakfast offerings which, while nothing to write home about, were still more substantial and varied than nearly anyplace else we stayed in the region.

Response from Le Pont B, Propriétaire at Hotel Restaurant Le Pont Bernet
Responded 3 Aug 2014
Dear Sir, We are sorry to see that your stay was not as good as expected. For the pool towels, it is the first year that we rent it, however we found that some people were using 2-3 towels per day and abusing the fact that it was free. That is the reason why is it rented 1 symbolic euro. Regarding the fact that towels are rough, it is unusual, our dryer broke down and in summer it is more difficult to get a restful quickly. Regarding sound insulation between rooms, we started work in the first part of the building and will continue for the remaining rooms as soon as possible. We are delighted that you liked breakfast. Best regards Mr Ollivier

Dont be disappointed when you first catch sight of this hotel - it is on a very busy road. Once inside, the staff are really good and the rooms are clean and comfortable with good air-conditioning. There is a pool and a wood at the back of the hotel with walking trails.
The main draw of this place is the restaurant, which was very good and busy with locals as well as hotel guests. We had booked half board, and had a fixed menu with no choice, however the meal was excellent, as was the wine (additional cost). Guests with dietary restrictions or requirements ought to inform the hotel in advance.
Breakfast was great with lots of choice and we were given loads of information about the surrounding area and vineyards. Excellent value for money.

We where a group of 18 persons, staying in the Bordeaux area for one week, and 3 nights in this hotel. We felt very welcome when we arrived, the personnel was very helpful and friendly. The rooms was not very big, but quite all right. Everything was clean, and the beds good. The area was very nice with footpaths in the wood.
We also dined her in the evenings, and also the food was excellent.

This is a small Logis hotel north of Bordeaux, with pleasant gardens, woodland walks, medium sized outdoor pool and outdoor games- e.g table tennis, volleyball. We were warmly welcomed and shown a secure place for our bikes. Our room was quite compact, with air conditioning and double glazed window, which was effective in blocking out all traffic noise. Bathroom (with bath) was clean with pleasant toiletries. The restaurant was on an attractive outdoor terrace overlooking the garden. The food was excellent, as
was the service. The waiters went out of their way to enable us to have a very enjoyable meal. The buffet breakfast was equally good, offering a wide choice- the local pain de campagne was delicious. The patron was very helpful in assisting us with cycle routes. Highly recommended.

We stayed only for one night. The restaurant is first-class. Dinner was wonderful and the service was very professional. Breakfast was well beyond the ubiquitous continental breakfast in France with a variety of good quality choices. You could, if you wish, eat enough to last the entire day.

As I understand it from speaking to the owner, he is working on bringing the hotel rooms up to snuff. In my view, he still has a ways to go (the only reason I didn't give a 5-star rating), but he is a charming, intelligent man who clearly wants to raise the hotel to a higher level. As for now, the room is a bit small, although perhaps not by French standards, the bathroom needs at least a pole shower in the tub rather than hand-held, and there are other smaller items that need improvement. The new windows are great. The view of the garden and pool in the back is wonderful (colorful small birds just outside our window in the trees), and the room was quiet.

Staff is courteous and helpful. Breakfast is served at 8:30 a.m. on the weekends, and we had a plane to catch, so we asked if we could eat a little earlier, and they opened the restaurant at 8:00 a.m. just for us. We thought that was unusually considerate.

Good communication by email from the start from Australia.
Front desk Audrey replied nothing is a problem with me staying twice for one night with 2 nights away in between and leaving my bike + belongings at the hotel.
Reception was very friendly and helpful with whatever I asked for executed without any fuss or bother.
The restaurant was a highlight both for lunch , dinner and breakfast (try nespresso , delicious french cheese and sausage amongst others ).
The dinner was superb considering I took the half board which is fantastic value and with the advise of the owner/ sommelier the wines were a perfect match.
Great places to sit outside at the back in the sun or around the very clean pool in the garden.
I look forward to coming back in 2 days time to have another great dinner experience.
One of the better places I have stayed on this 1800km cycling trip from Paris via Bordeaux to Nice.

The hotel stands on a busy-ish road in the Medoc region not too far from Bordeaux. We had chosen it to use a base to tour the wine growing regions and also to try and find some memories of the Cockleshell Heroes raid on Bordeaux in WW2 (will be known to British readers but probably no one else). The rooms are reasonably spacious and clean without being luxurious. Despite the hotel being fairly close to the road there was no road noise even in wet weather. We might have been unlucky in room 17 as either the walls are very thin or whoever was in room 16 was deaf and had the tv on late and loud. No problem the next night. The hotel is mid range but the restaurant is not. The hotel owner is a former high level sommelier and his level of knowledge plus the French love of food produces a very pleasant evening. We ate there two nights and the cuisine was just excellent and we received superb advice on the choice of wine.
If I was staying longer I think I would probably try and find a slightly more attractive or atmospheric hotel further into the Paulliac/Margaux region but I would certainly like to take the restaurant with me. Well recommended though.
