This is a great place to stay if you're looking for a tranquil, off-the-beaten-path village in the heart of Andalucia that's still convenient for visiting the tourist centers of Sevilla, Granada, Cordoba, and the Costa del Sol. Jo & Ken are excellent hosts and very knowledgeable about the area. They have a wonderful list of suggested activities (which can be accessed on the Almohalla 51 website), many of which are in or very near to Archidona. If you want to learn about and enjoy a tasting of local (but international award-winning) olive oils, don't miss the tour at Molino del Hortelano). And Jo makes, on request, a paella which was the best meal we had during our entire Spanish sojourn! Cindy & Jon (Texas, USA)

Our stay at Almohalla was perfect. Jo and Ken are fantastic hosts. The helpful advice we received from Ken and Jo really enhanced our enjoyment of the local area - which is beautiful. The hotel is gorgeous. I travelled with a friend, we stayed for a week and we both loved every minute of our stay.

We would just like to thank Jo and Ken for giving us such a lovely stay at the beautiful Almohalla 51 and being the perfect hosts. It was clear to see how passionate they are about every detail. The Almohalla 51 is a traditional Andalucian guest house which has been further enhanced by Jo's love of ceramic work and also her love of cooking whereby an evening meal is highly recommended. Archidona is a traditional Andalucian town and is well positioned for visits to Granada, Ronda, Saville and Malaga. Ken was also more than willing to point us in the right direction as regards some lovely walks. Thank you both once again!!

I would thoroughly recommend Allmohalla 51 ‘The place where we can be’. Ken & Jo’s personalised hospitality makes for a relaxing & customised vacation. We stayed in Archidona for 7 nights & each day began with a delicious breakfast, which allowed us to actively explore the many interesting local towns & their stunning historical & natural habitats. A car is recommended to enhance these experiences. Ken & Jo provide a wealth of knowledge about the region, culture & customs & their sense of adventure is inspirational. Dinner at home in their cozy surrounds or lounging around the pool are also tempting options. Additional luxuries including a 24 hour tea buffet with local sweet treats & Barry, their resident pooch, ensured we felt nurtured & nourished at all times. Thankyou Jen & Jo, with much gratitude xxx

A little gem of a place to stay. As a female solo traveller I felt very comfortable here, Jo and Ken, the owners made me feel at home throughout my 4 nights stay. The pool terrace is a perfect sun trap, its quiet and private and just what I needed to zone out in. My room was so nice and comfy, really nicely done out and very individual/rustic. The food was really good too, and healthy! The hotel is located in the centre of Archidona, I felt safe walking around and the people are friendly. Its a lovely traditional Spanish town surrounded by lovely countryside, and great for cycling! ken took me out a couple of times for a cycle which was fab. I loved my stay here and will definetely be back, I'll bring my friends next time!.

We had a wonderful time staying at both Almohalla 39 and 51. The flat in Malaga was comfortable and provided everything we needed. La Trinidad is an upcoming area with some lovely cafes and restaurants and it’s only about 10 minutes walk to the old town and 20 minutes to the beach. We loved the combination of exploring the city as well as the more rural areas during our five day stay in Archidona. Jo and Ken were fantastic hosts who made us feel so welcome, gave us excellent tips regarding the area, organised special excursions and recommended great restaurants. The hotel atmosphere is very homely with attention paid to every detail. Our room was very cosy with an excellent shower in the ensuite bathroom which you enter through a set of double doors, which felt very special. We always looked forward to breakfast. Jo’s homemade granola with yoghurt and fresh fruit was delicious, followed by a very tasty savoury or sweet choice. Complimentary hot drinks, cake and biscuits are also available, so you don’t go hungry before heading out for your evening meal. I very much enjoyed relaxing by the pool and was delighted to be able to witness the most extraordinary sunset. A wonderful place for a relaxing holiday with many exciting daytrips on offer if you feel like it and great restaurants in close walking distance, soaking in the lokal atmosphere of Archidona.

This was the first solo trip I've ever done. I stayed 4 nights. When I first arrived, the hosts told me I could have space and get involved when i wanted to, they wouldn't be offended. I decided to get involved and I dined every night with them, and also ate some lunches with them. They took me out on a couple of day trips, and were always on hand to answer questions. They treated me like part of the family, which I'm extremely grateful for. My room had a lot of charm, was clean and had everything I needed. This place is not suitable if you have mobility issues as there are steep steps to get to your room. The area is so beautiful, and Archidona has a lot of charm and charisma. Transport is a bit limited in the area, and I'd recommend hiring a car. The buses are not great over the weekend, but are more frequent on weekdays.

Fantastic place to stay. Jo and Ken are lovely, nothing is too much trouble for them. Good place to stay to visit Grenada and Seville. Alhambra Palace was beautiful. Had a sunset picnic prepared by Jo, which was excellent as we watched the sun go down over Archidona. The hotel is a great find, very authentic, and the pool is lovely after a busy day. Would definitely recommend Almohalla51 and would love to return in the future.

Had a wonderful stay at the beautiful Almohalla 51 Boutique Hotel. We were warmly greeted by Jo, Ken & Barry the dog after a late arrival, with tea and cake. We had room 3 which was on a split level. It had a large walk-in shower, toiletries, a hairdryer, hanging space for clothes and plenty of draws. The bedroom (upstairs) consisted of twin beds, more storage space and a large fan. Our stay included breakfast which was served on the patio. We had plenty of tea/coffee, orange juice, yoghurt with homemade granola, and fresh fruit (figs from their tree). Then you had a choice of dishes including cheese, Serrano ham, tomatoes & toasted Mollette. Shakshuka, eggs & homemade jam/marmalade. Jo & Ken were happy to make lunch/evening meals if requested in advance and the cocktails made by Ken were just what you needed after a hot day by the pool or relaxing in the sunroom. There is an honesty fridge with pop, water, beer & wine (just write your room no and what you have and pay on departure). There are also complimentary cakes & biscuits available. The town has some lovely restaurants to eat in and Jo & Ken are happy to recommend dishes and the best restaurants. They have a lot of knowledge of the area and are happy to recommend/book trips or activities. One night we enjoyed the most delicious chicken & prawn paella, which was cooked by Jo who is a fantastic cook. Overall we had a fantastic time here and Jo & Ken can't do enough for you to make your stay memorable. Oh, … and Jo makes her plates, cactus bowls and ornaments which you can buy at a small cost. Thank you Jo & Ken. I will be back.

I was lucky enough to visit this lovely hotel with my bestie , somewhere she had wanted to visit for a while as it’s run by a relative . What a beautiful place to stay , we have just spent 4 days here for a short relaxing break . Jo & Ken are such wonderful hosts , everything was just perfect . From being greeted late at night on arrival with a lovely pot of tea on request , to such a lovely breakfast every morning sampling the whole menu . And we even got to meet Jo’s daughter Claudia who was lovely and also there on holiday , and I mustn’t forget to mention the lovely dog Barry . We had room 3 which was a twin room with bathroom on a different floor . This worked well for us . We left today already talking about a return visit in the future . Thank you so much for a lovely relaxing break , wonderful hospitality & amazing paella ❤️ Wendy
