We stayed at Tierra for a few nights during our honeymoon, and this was the highlight of the trip. The property itself is incredibly located on a lake that has amazing views of the mountains. The staff could not have been more warm, friendly and accommodating-- whether it was

This truly is an exceptional hotel. My husband and I spent 4 nights in early January and it really was amazing. The hotel building is so discreet allowing the amazing views of Torres Del Paine to take the centre stage, but inside the hotel has first class facilities from the

This gem of hospitality blends into the scenery so we'll it's hard to spot from a far. Unassuming but full of creature comforts, free WIFI. The weather can be quite chaotic outside but the minute the door opens it becomes your peaceful refuge from the elements. Greeted every day

Dear Qwickrick: Thank you so much for reaching out to us through Trip Advisor! We are so happy to be welcoming you at Tierra Hotels in a few weeks! We are delighted to let you know that the weather in Torres del Paine is notoriously changeable. We would highly recommend bringing suitable clothing for all seasons, though particularly be sure to include windbreakers and protective gear wherever possible. In December, you may expect an average daytime temperature of 7 - 19°C / 45 - 66°F. We recommend dressing in layers, with comfortable walking shoes for excursions and a waterproof jacket to hand for any rainy moments. You should prepare for wind, sun and showers, as you never know what the day will bring! Take a look at our suggestions regarding clothing to help you prepare for your trip: Dress in layers: The first layer should include a thermal vest, trekking socks and comfortable underwear. The second layer should include trekking pants and a polar fleece. The third layer should include a thick fleece and a windproof jacket. The fourth layer should include a waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers. Comfortable, waterproof hiking boots. Gloves and a hat. Sunblock, lip salve and sunglasses. Binoculars and camera. Small backpack or daypack to carry water, box lunch, spare clothes, waterproofs and personal items, etc. Swimsuit (for the pool and spa) There isn’t a dress code at the hotel, though a smart/casual approach for dinner would not be out of place. Feel free to visit our website TIERRAHOTELS com. We look forward to welcoming you!! Warm regards, Cecilia - Guest Service

The weather is always changeable. It could be warm and sunny, it could be wet. The weather changed dramatically from hour to hour when we were there in April which is Autumn. My advice is to take layers including waterproof trousers. You do need back packs but walking poles are provided. There is a shop at the hotel with a good selection of outdoor wear. Take your swimsuits as the pool is glorious! I am sure you will have an unforgettable time - I would love to go back.

Dear 33map, Thank you very much for reaching out to us and for this great question! We are delighted to let you know that our regular transfers are included in ALL INCLUSIVE programs of 3 or more nights, to and from Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales and Cerro Castillo. The schedules we work with are the following: The pick ups from Punta Arenas airport are at 8:30 to 9:30, from Hotels in Punta Arenas and around 10:00 from the airport. There is a 4,1/2 hour drive to Tierra Patagonia and arrival from this first transfer service will be around 14:30. The second and last transfer pickup service from Punta Arenas is at 14:30 from the airport in Punta Arenas only (not from hotels in Punta Arenas). Estimated time of arrival at Tierra Patagonia is 19:00. We do also have a pick up service for the arrival of the Australis Cruise, which should be around 12.30 from Punta Arenas (only available the days when the cruise arrives). Estimated time of arrival at Tierra patagonia, 18:00. As for the departures from Tierra Patagonia to Punta Arenas, the schedules should be: First departure from Tierra Patagonia is at 8am and the arrival in Punta Arenas airport is around 12:30. So please book the late afternoon flights from 2pm onwards. Second transfer departs Tierra Patagonia at 10am, arriving in Punta Arenas airport around 14:30. Please remember that you should be at the airport at least 1 hour in advance for your flight. If you prefer a private transfer service, this has an extra cost, so the previous replies are not quite correct. The cost of the private transfer service to or from Punta Arenas is USD 730 per vehicle, per journey (for a max. of 8 people). Should you have any other doubt, do not hesitate to contact our reservations department. Also review our website for more details. Warm regards, Cecilia - Guest Service

Dear Russell B.: Thank you so much for reaching out to us with your doubt! The trekking to the base of the Paine towers (Torres del Paine), is a full day hike. We have had guests of all ages who have made it to the top. The final part is the most difficult, where you need to climb over loose rocks, but our guides are patient, encouraging and helpful and will support you throughout the climb! Once you arrive to the hotel, our guides will be able to talk to you directly and go through your concerns and doubts, so you will definitely be in great hands before deciding to go for it! I hereby copy our description from the website, just in case: This world famous hike demands stamina, but the rewards are the impressive views of the three granite towers. This hike ascends strongly for one hour bordering the Rio Ascensio until reaching the Paso de los Vientos. From here it takes 30 minutes to reach Campamento Chileno where we can have a little rest. The walk continues to ascend through the forest for 1,5 hours, gaining altitude very quickly and with amazing views of the geological formations in the area such as folds, fractures and granite intrusions. The last hour is the most challenging and dicult, where the trail winds up thorough a moraine section of loose rock, there is exposure to the wind and where the weather is unpredictable. Arriving at the lookout we will have the classic view of the Torres del Paine and weather permitting, we can lunch with this fantastic landscape in front of us. We will descend along the same trail and it takes about four hours to reach the starting point, so it definitely requires good knees and you need to be in good shape. Make sure you dress properly, rain pants and waterproof jacket, hat, gloves, fleece or any warm jacket, synthetic and breathable top, light hiking pants, hiking boots. Avoid wearing cotton, jeans and new boots. This excursion is hard and strenuous if you are not used to long distance hikes. A trick: using two socks on each foot will help you not to feel the shoes nor hurt your feet! We will be delighted to welcome you at Tierra Patagonia! Kind regards, Cecilia - Guest Service
