This supossedly 3 /4 star hotel(booked by our travel agent) is located just next to the old town and that is the only good thing about it. The room is passable, but the breakfast is very poor even for one who is used to Chinese food. For those wanting western breakfast you better look elsewhere.

We stayed for 3 nights. Not a bad hotel but kind of old school Chinese hotel. This means indifferent staff, old rooms, kind of clean rooms but something not working right here and there. For example, heating was working but only had a working on off function thus need to regulate the temperature by switching it on and off timely....

Pretty good for a county hotel. Don't let the small lobby fool you, though. The hotel itself is divided into two buildings, and there are lots of room. The staffs were also helpful even when they don't speak English. The hotel is situated near the old town. There are shops and cafes nearby if you decide to take a walk after...

We stayed here for two nights which were two too many. The lobby and rooms are non-smoking but ashtrays were everywhere. Smoking in hallways, not enjoyable. Some parts are poorly lit at night which could cause a tumble down stairs if not paying attention. Rooms are okay, AC didn't work and clerks speak no English. The only good thing is...

Stayed here one night. Was supposed to stay 3 nights. I think that says it all. Not clean, very noisy like a trains station, bath rooms not clean. Staff totally un attentive, not even cognisant of the guests. Breakfast was a bombsight. Not at all worth staying. Much better hotels in the town for same or less. It's a great...

After a long flight and transfers, this was a great place to start our China trip from. With Underfloor heating and a superb heating system, it was a welcome 'home coming' after a day out. Lovely comfortable beds, clean; great, spacious shower cubicle and plenty of towels and toiletries to use. Also complimentary slippers and robe to use during your...

A decent place with clean bathroom and clean sheets. Breakfast in basement floor far from satisfactory as quality and choice of fare lacking. Convenient location to ancient city. Staff service could be friendlier. WiFi was good especially in rooms.

Second hotel for our trip. We were pre-empt by the altitude sickness. However, the hotel in comfortable. I love the shower head although we were not encouraged to shower for too long. The TV is big and most of the channels are available. Wifi is strong. Although it's in town, it wasn't noisy and we had a peaceful night sleep....

Comfortable hotel. Below floor heating provided to handle the cold temperatures experienced at this altitude. The breakfast provided in the cellar was the worst we have ever experienced. Although prepaid we went out to breakfast the next day. The hotel is conveniently located for shopping and dining. Be warned that the air at this altitude (3300 metres) is very thin...

Really a pity that the real old town of Shangri-La (Zhongdian) burnt down recently - which also gives you less choices now to stay. The Old Town Hotel is located next to the (burnt down) city center - and when I was there in Feb they started already to rebuilt many houses. The rooms itself are OK, not too big...
