Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This Hotel is Brilliant, you experience not just Bavaria, but the Allgau. Hotel team traditionally dressed, makes it authentic. Maurco in Cocktail bar is brilliant and so professional. The family Gross provide an excellent service.

We (my wife and son and my mother and sister) stayed at this hotel during the Christmas period. The whole hotel had exquisite Christmas decorations of the sort that you do not come across in even very good hotels in the UK. Our room was spacious, with a wooden interior that gave it a very homely feel while having all the modern features you'd want and a rain shower in the bathroom. The large terrace offered views of slopes leading up to mountains that can truly be described as magnificent. As regards the restaurant, we were spoiled for choice with varying 4-course menus every night though it offered soup and snacks if you couldn't wait till the evening. There are apparently 9 chefs busy in the kitchens and they deserve applause. Finally, the wellness centre with its pools, jacuzzi, saunas and relaxation lounge was the perfect addition to make your stay one to recharge your batteries to face whatever 2022 has in store for you.

Terrific hotel in a beautiful location ... there is nothing I can fault. All of the other 5 star reviews and descriptions are spot-on. The only downside was our 4 day stay (8-12 July) was 10 days too short. The outstanding feature for me was the hotel interior and in particular the ambience in the dining area ... seemingly, the inspiration came from a Scottish castle. Timeless in its appeal!

Thank you very much for this kind review! Just as "Luitpold Trivia": parts of the wooden interior used to be in a now demolished Schottisch castle: Lanrick. We are looking forward to welcoming you again :-)

This is a beautiful hotel, where you ate greeted with a wonderful smile. The staff are all so friendly and the hotel is fantastic. The rooms are extremely comfortable and the spa area is just awesome. A swim in the warm outdoor pool looking at the Bavarian alps around you is just breath taking. Had a wonderful stay and I will certainly be back.

The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere. The rooms have gorgeous views to the valley and the spa area is excellent. It is so nice to pop in the Finnish sauna (one of the best ones I have found outside Finland) after a days hike and then head for dinner in the restaurant.

It's incredible hotel. Even it's very old (more than 100 years) has good conservation and very particulars aspect. The restaurant is pretty good and has good options. The internet in the room was not working during my 2 days as guest.

I wish we could have stayed longer at this really lovely hotel in a gorgeous location and hope to come back in winter. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was very large with a modern, newly remodeled bathroom. I absolutely loved the shower, slept very well in the comfortable antique bed, and enjoyed beautiful views from a very nice balcony. All our meals were really wonderful. I was very impressed with the food. The check-in process exceeded expectations as did check-out when we received a cute bag of golden Luitpoldtaler coins which are worth a discount on our next stay. This hotel has been in the same family for generations and everything from the hotel motto which I find very light-hearted and think it's cute (and funnier in German than English -- Ein bisschen königlich) shows to me people who love what they do and are pouring their heart into this hotel. I also loved the bowls of fresh apples! What a memorable and great stay at this lovely hotel. Next time we'll take advantage of the spa but we came for the Viehscheid and will return when it snows.
