This hotel should be the template for what all other holiday inn express should aspire to be. Well done to all concerned. Brilliant staff, clean and comfortable rooms, amazing breakfast spread.
I was on a rewards night so parking was free. I think parking should be free for all residents that’s my only suggestion. Thanks

Thank you for your kind words about the team and your experience at the Holiday Inn Express Bodmin, it means a lot to us all. We understand your sentiment regarding parking charges. I would point out that all hotel guests benefit from discounted parking at the neighboring Cornwall Services and room rates that include parking are available to book online. If parking were to be made inclusive for all rooms it would actually push the room rate up for everyone (including those who come by coach, and those that have only one car but more than one room), which seems a tad unfair. I hope we can welcome you back to Cornwall again. Best wishes Nick Smith General Manager

My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights as its location on the A30 suggested it would be an ideal base for getting around Cornwall.
When we arrived I was a little worried to see how close it was to the A30, but there were no problems with traffic noise - and we had a bedroom at the front of the hotel.

Car parking was not a problem, we registered our car on arrival to avoid paying.

Check in was easy, the staff were friendly and the COVID arrangements were explained. Overall the precautions were obvious and the staff seemed well used to them and were working normally.

The room was clean and tidy, and was cleaned during our stay. There were tea and coffee facilities in the room that were replenished. The bed was comfortable.

Breakfast was an "assisted" affair! There were grab bags for those that need to leave and these could be supplemented with a breakfast bap. We sat and ate each morning, there were screens between tables and although the tables were limited there is not seem to be any waiting between one person leaving, the table getting cleaned and the next person getting the table. The breakfast was a standard fare for Holiday Inn - the difference being you had to ask for what you wanted - the staff quite happily obliged!

As we hoped this was a great location to explore Cornwall and well worth considering if you intend to sight see across the county.

Stayed here for a five day break in Cornwall visiting lots of gardens, castles and sites. The location was ideal for driving anywhere in Cornwall within about an hour. We loved the room and facilities and the breakfasts were being managed very well with a good selection of hot and cold foods. A Services area might not be romantic, but it sure is practical.

My husband decided to take me away for a couple of nights and booked somewhere not too far away but close to the Eden Project! On arrival it was clear how well the hotel was set up with sanitising stations at regular intervals and seeing the staff with their masks on and the signs around reminding guests to wear their makss made me feel comfortable.
The staff that were on reception when we arrived Saturday afternoon and then again Sunday absolutely deserve all the credit. They were polite, friendly and asking about our day etc if it wasn't for them I don't think the review would be as high as it is! Nothing was too much trouble for them! I would like our complimemts and thanks passed on to them.
The restaurant/outside eating was adequate for the location etc. And the grab and go breakfast was well thought out, we chose to eat it in our room each morning which was fine with us and the housekeeping collected the tray from outside the room!
We had an evening meal at the hotel on the Saturday evening and that was lovely!
Onto the room....it was a lovely room clean and functional. The decor was really nice and bright. Lots of sockets around and the bathroom was lovely and clean with a nice powerful spacious shower!
My big compliant is the lack of soundproofing throughout the hotel! We were aware of thumping music from above us on the Saturday evening, there were people running up and down the corridors, doors being slammed until 2/3 am. That is a big thing that has let this place down. I know it can't be completely soundproof but I would recommend doors being looked at and guests reminded of other residents and not disturbing them!

Thank you for your review of the new Holiday Inn Express Bodmin. I'm pleased to here overall that you had a good stay. With regards to the noise complaint - we do have very high standards of soundproofing as a brand standard but unfortunately, not all guests are as considerate as we would hope and we had some particularly noisy families to deal with last week running along corridors and leaving room doors open on the lock causing them to bang. I'm sorry for the annoyance this must have caused. We are a new hotel and learning every day. The team has been briefed on how to deal with these situations better going forward! I hope we can welcome you back to Cornwall again. Nick Smith General Manager

What an amazing completely faultless hotel. We were in Cornwall for my birthday weekend, just stayed the 1 night but 2 full days visiting places and tourist attractions in Cornwall. The hotel was awesome! Everywhere, even high traffic areas, was spotless, plenty of sanitising pumps everywhere. The restaurant was amazing and the food for our evening meal and then for our inclusive buffet breakfast was divine!! It was lovely having a bar there too and to have the option to take meals and drinks up to the room if we wanted to. We'd booked a blue badge space at the of the hotel as I am disabled, but forgot to ask for an accessible room with a shower and by the lift....well the reception staff had noticed that on our booking and had put us in a twin accessible room with a shower and room by the lift, now that is attention to detail which we REALLY appreciated! Even the lift was spotless and the twin room had everything we needed and more. It was immaculate, not a speck of dust anywhere, that's impressive. The shower was huge and so easy to work the controls. Towels, hairdryer, even iron and ironing board all provided in the room. Plug socket right by the bed and great light fitted into the wall or headboard and it slotted back in when it wasn't needed. Great attention to detail throughout. No noise from outside with fantastic double or prob triple glazing. Very very impressed, we will DEF be back again this year for another tour of Cornwall and for a longer stay next time. I highly recommend this hotel and it's staff, can't rate it highly enough. Sensible prices to encourage repeat custom and buffet breakfast included in the price was incredible. We will def be returning later in the year and I've already downloaded the app. Many thanks!

We were on a family get together weekend and wanted somewhere to stay near Bodmin. I have never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before and was very impressed. The rooms were large and tastefully decorated and furnished.

We have some mobility problems so when I mentioned we needed a walk in shower the checking in member of staff advised us of their special rooms available for wheelchair users and people with mobility issues.
We loved the shower as it was a wet room and no obstacles to manoeuvre around and was very practical and safe.
We decided to eat there the first night and there was a reasonable choice of meals available at reasonable prices. Breakfast choices were also good and available 10.30 am and 11 am on Saturdays which is good times for those who like to get a ‘ lie in’ whilst on holiday.
The staff were very friendly and professional and made you feel welcomed. Particularly the evening shift on the Friday I nicknamed the A team as they all worked well together and were cheerful and nothing was too much trouble,
We will definitely stay there again.
This hotel is on a new site with a garage near by, a collection of small coffee , food outlets and outdoor clothing shops. They do charge for car parking which was £6 per day but I can understand that as it’s a very busy site and I suspect people using the shops park on the hotel parking area.
I would question that blue badge holders using the hotel should be exempt and maybe have a badge to display?. However the team on duty sorted the parking for us as we are blue badge holders on this occasion.

We booked this 'staycation' fro 4 nights away and were very impressed by the overall standards and location. The hotel is in a great location for all the places we went to in Cornwall. Rock, Padstow is 30 minutes, Fowey is 20 minutes and Penzance approximately an hour. We a family of 4 with two children aged 10 & 4. We have stayed in premier inn's before, and the room here was spotless and slightly smaller than PI. The breakfast consisted of continental and hot bacon, sausage and egg baps. We were able to take away a bag a food to help with lunch. The Staff are lovely and very helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Loads of parking spaces which are free to hotel guests. All new safety controls during Covid were in place. and the hotel has a bar and we were also able to order hot food in the evening. We would definitely recommend if you want to stay in a nice central location away from all the busier hotels. We even got a haircut as there is a barber hut next door in the services car park.We will definitely be back.

We stayed here for 2 nights. We chose this place as it’s so central to Cornwall so you can get to lots of different places without having to spend all day in a car.

As for the person who left a one star review because the COVID measured were over the top, you clearly need to stay at home. Do they not realise that all hotels are following government guidance to protect all guests and staff, not just trying to cater to your whims!

I thought the team had done a great job with COVID measures. Sanitiser everywhere, breakfast served. Screens between tables etc. Good job.

The rooms are great. Good spec and loads of sockets and USB ports. WiFi is amazing. I was pulling over 80mbps!

The only reason I gave 4 and not 5 stars is the noise. I’m not sure what went wrong in the build but I could hear tapping, thumping from rooms and kids running up and down the corridors.

The only other slight issue is the air con resets throughout the night so if you like a cold room you’ll have to get up at circa 3am and re programme the control panel.

Thank you for the review of your recent stay at the new Holiday Inn Express Bodmin and I'm please you had a good overall experience. On the negatives you mentioned I can only apologise for a couple of the teething issues we have been dealing with as a brand new hotel. Unfortunately, not all guests are as considerate as we would hope and we had some noisy families to deal with last week running along corridors and banging their room doors.. The team has been briefed on how to deal with these situations better going forward! The issue of the air conditioning issue resetting unexpectedly in a few rooms has also been resolved, I'm sorry for any discomfort this may have caused. I hope we can welcome you back to Cornwall again soon. Nick Smith General Manager

Simply superb customer experience, the staff were amazing, helpful and accommodating with every enquiry we had. They are a credit to the company,
Rooms were clean and well-stocked. Food was good, especially when arriving late in the evening and the menu was limited. Great breakfast in the morning too, so good to not have to worry about early morning hunger.
Fantastic central location in Cornwall, easy access to main roads and easy to access all the fantastic beaches and attractions from this central location.
Quiet room even though situated in a service's location which was also helpful for all other needs such as gas or supplies.
I simply cannot recommend this hotel enough to anyone wanting to explore all Cornwall has to offer, but just to reiterate it was the amazing staff that made this such a great place to stay

We picked this location because it was very convenient to every interesting areas to visit in Cornwall. Started planning for 4 days and ended staying for 7 ! Wonderful smiling staff who work well as a team. At the end of our stay, it almost felt like family ! Responded quickly to our every need with a smile ! The breakfast is just extraordinary for someone used to American Holiday Inn Express hotels. As IHG rewards members, we even got a free drink upon our arrival. The hotel is located in a “Services” area which was a little disconcerting at first but the rooms were very quiet and there was the added benefit of having a Subway, a McDonalds and a Costa coffee shop in the next door building and a petrol (gas) station at the exit. We chose a room with a sofa bed to have more room and it was spotless. Great shower. Just wish they would provide the old individual toiletries as we are not too keen on these new suds that act as soap, shampoo and conditioner all-in-one. And no lotion. Only thing that bothered me was the plastic binder around the shower hose which made it awkward to use. Greatly recommend this hotel.

Yes, they do. The car park is owned and operated by the neighbouring services but hotel guests can benefit from half-price parking if they pay at the check-in - alternatively, rates are available that include parking.

Our dog-friendly rooms are on the ground floor. Dogs are allowed in the lobby bar (where meals can be served|) but not in the dining area.

A couple of our favourites are the Lanivet Inn just down the road or the Longstore in historic Charlestown, about 20 minutes away but worth the drive! With Covid 19 restrictions in place we would recommend booking ahead.
