Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have just returned from a bargain 3 night stay - booked just as Boris announced the lifting of lockdown & got 3 nights for £95 (over a weekend mid August!)
Having never been to Cornwall before, it was a good base to have & easy to visit various attractions (Eden Project just under 30 mins away).
Plenty of car parking on site. Friendly staff - on check in asked for a quiet room. The receptionist didn’t have much choice given they were fully booked but we got a room on the 1st floor, right at the back overlooking the boat yard.
Great room, plenty of space & a comfy bed. Covid restrictions mean your room won’t be cleaned during your stay but staff left a trolley on the corridor so we could help ourselves to tea/coffee/milk etc.
Covid restrictions also meant staff were happy for you to take food back to your room. We ate at the pub next door one night & also had breakfast there before we came home. The pub is taking part in the Eat Out offer during August.
5 minutes down the road in the village of Roche & they have a fish & chip shop, takeaway & Chinese takeaway. We bought from both the chippy & takeaway. Prices & food were ok from them.
Would stay here again if we decided to return to Cornwall. Thanks.

Very typical Travelodge but definitely needs a refurb. Although our room was comfortable, clean and large it did need to be brought into the 21st century. Nothing was bad but it just feels like a new coat of paint is needed to make it feel welcoming. . The exterior needs a lick of paint to make it look better. Bathrooms are also in need of modernisation. Better shower and baths, more towel rails (perhaps heated ones) so you can dry towels!! . The service was good however, always someone on the desk, no trouble in getting anything you needed like extra towels, teas & coffees etc. Also the staff were very friendly and efficient.
As its near the busy A30, some noise is to be expected. Like other reviews have stated it is quite expensive for what is on offer.

The hotel is fine but there is no tie in with the pub next door. There is a physical link between the two but the hotel does not advertise the excellent food on their doorstep. The breakfast is good quality and excellent value and the evening meals are not the usual everyday pub grub served up by the usual road house accompanying branded pubs. Its a selling point they're missing out on.

We booked a weekend away before they had lifted lockdown and paid £71 with early check in. Initially it wasn't were we thought it was but was easy enough to find and the check in process was easy.
Stayed in room 10 and the carpets were sticky and water pressure wasn't great but for what we paid we can't complain. Would definitely stay again if we ever decided to visit again for a weekend.

We booked this travelogde to sleep after running 100 miles in Cornwall, we had 2 dogs with us, the room as on the ground floor and very large, clean and comfy, the bathroom was massive with a huge bath which was well needed by my poor broken husband, ultra runners need baths! The water was piping hot, just perfect. Parked right outside our room, had space for all our stuff and the dog beds. All in all totally excellent exactly what we required. Had a long sleep to recover and felt refreshed for the 5 hour drive home

This follows a 7 night stay at this particular Travelodge. I have stayed at numerous Travelodges without complaint. If you are thinking of staying at this establishment for holidaying purposes I would rethink your choice. Simple things were missing from the room, such as coat hooks to hang up a wet coat. The only dedicated seating in the room was one plastic desk type chair, to be shared between two guests. There was no comfortable seating supplied at all. There was no beside table/cabinet to put an alarm clock, pair of spectacles, glass of water, or a book you may be reading whilst in bed. There was no light either side of the bed that you could read by without disturbing a partner who may wish to sleep. No drinking glasses were supplied to have a simple glass of water or to be used when having a soft drink other than to drink straight from its bottle. There was no bath mat or similar to stop the bathroom floor from getting wet and slippy after taking a bath or shower. The shaver point/light in our bathroom did not work. Though reported to reception both on the day of booking in and again the next day, with an assurance it would be seen to. After a 7 night stay it was in exactly the same condition when we left as it was when we arrived - not working...

The divider between the carpet and the lino in the bathroom was loose causing me to trip over rip my slipper and hurt myself flying into the wardrobe space. Normally this wouldn't have been a problem because I reported it to the perception who promptly had me fill out an accident report. Since then I've heard nothing from Travelodge or an offer to pay for my slippers which ripped. If Travelodge aren't going to keep their rooms in decent maintenance at least have the courtesy to get back to me when one of your customers injures himself because of it

Old and tired, expensive too for what it was. You can’t charge £125 per night for such a poor experience. I was prepared to pay more for travelling in the area during holiday season but this Travelodge is in need of a refurb. Felt unclean. Shower curtain dirty, desk sticky, etc.

Stayed in a room on the first floor.
Smell of drugs throughout the building along with stale wet towels.
The room I stayed in had an overpowering smell of mould and wet towels.
Large picture above the bed was thick with dust. Previous guests had written ‘clean me’ in the dust.
Black mould on bathroom tiles, grime around the bath plug and the shower curtain smelt badly.
Not enough towels and no bath mat.
No plugs on the side of the room where the bed was and no bedside table.

Cleaning standards are very poor in this Travelodge, it’s outdated and shabby.

I'm not sure there's enough room for a big caravan but perhaps a smaller one might fit but just down the road is a BP filling station with a car parking area and I've seen trucks parked there (it doesn't look to be time limited or pay and display). It's unlikely the parking area (which is closer to a care home/day centre) actually belongs to the filling station, anyway. There's also a small industrial estate opposite the Travelodge - Google Station Approach, Roche.
