We stayed here because we couldn't find anywhere in Oberammergau, so I would say that the location is not ideal. The staff were quite abrupt and unfriendly - made us take off all our wet clothing and boots at the door, were rude when asked questions, and made us feel quite unwelcome. We would have turned around and walked away... More

We chose this family-run hotel for a two night stay to allow us to visit The Ettal Kloster, Oberammergau, Garmisch and some of the surrounding castles. The hotel was situated beautifully situated on top of a hill overlooking the Kloster Ettal. our room was a family room that was very nice and clean and was perfect for us since the... More

We have just enjoyed our fourth trip to Ettal and of course stayed in our favourite little family-run hotel. With stunning views from the car park over Kloster Ettal, a 14th Century Monastery, this beautiful accommodation is a real find in the Bavarian countryside. It sits in the middle of a gorgeous little village. It is spotlessly clean and the... More

Very nice hotel for the money. Good location in Ettal across from the Monastery. Restaurants are available. Parking is tight, two twin beds and limited WI-FI. This is a constant problem no matter where I stayed.

Post Gasthause – Ettal: This wasn’t an intentional stop, but what turned out to be a very happy accident. Originally bound for Oberammergau we turned around upon entering the town and drove straight back to Ettal. Our first glance at Oberammergau left little to recommend it, but Ettal just a short distance away had seemed idyllic – we thought we’d... More

My daughter and I spent five nights at Hotel Post in Ettal. Our room was extremely comfortable and large enough to accommodate a sitting area. With wireless internet, and after a day of sight-seeing, this was a perfect match for my daughter. Ettal is a charming little town, surrounded by mountains, with the hotel directly across from the monastery. The... More

We initially found this lovely hotel in Winter 2004. We received a warm welcome into this clean, pretty hotel with stunning location directly opposite Kloster Ettal at 14th Century monastry. We have just returned for a third visit to Ettal and wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else. Our four year old daughter loves it too. On each of the three... More

Rudeness When we checked into our room in the Post Hotel Ettal - near Omerammergau, I told the inn clerk that the bed was very hard and that the springs were pushing up. “Vell, vee has had tree tousand peoples staying wit vus, and NOBODY has complain!” I told her the bed was still very uncomfortable and could I please... I booked the hotel 2 days in advance, suddenly an option. It was the cheapest available on the internet (to be found) around Garmisch due to BMW Motorrad Days, and they asked for €280 for two nights. Insanely pricy, but as I couldn't find any thing else I went for it. The initial impression was a friendly family run hotel,... More

“Our room this time was on the ground floor of the building behind the main one. We had french doors leading to the garden where we built a snowbunny. The views from all rooms are stunning.”

“Rooms on the roadside can get road noise, but look directly at the ancient monestary, rooms away from the road look directly into the mountains. In our opinion upper level rooms have better views, but balcony rooms beat the rest.”
