I have been before. Why have I come back? Because it is great. The owners of this hotel understand the concept of easy comfort. You don't have to have fancy hotels and clinical rooms. You have to provide warmatch of reception and service. Easy relaxing comfort. Great food that you want to get stuck into. Made to feel that you are welcome. Then after that, if the beds are comfortable, the showers working well with a clean bathroom you are onto a winner. We slept well - I only wish we had booked a second night which was part of my plan other than an early departure of the ferry because of the weather. If you want to explore the Picos and the Asturias then this is the place to base up. Trust me here folks - this is simple comfort and relaxation - this coming from a Hotelier!!.

Simply the best food in Spain! We went last Monday night, and the cooking was to perfection. The rooms were very clean, great value for money in a remote setting and the staff were very friendly. We also went back in 2018 which was still fantastic.

Fantastic location, views, staff and food. Family run, and staff who weren’t actual family were treated like it. We were very pleasantly surprised by the cuisine - this was top notch and on a par / better than some very pretentious restaurants. Amazing terrace views.

The hotel has a great location just on the edge of town with views of the green Asturian hillsides topped with a distant view of the Picos de Europa. While the hotel has a restaurant for hotel guests, town with other restaurant options is just a 10-minute walk. Our room, on the mountain side, had the great views of the hillside and peaks and was spacious with a reasonably comfortable queen sized bed, plenty of storage and other furnishings – chairs, table, and bed side tables. There was an outlet on each side of the bed. No safe or coffee and tea service, but there was hot water and instant coffee available in the dining room 24/7. The Wi-Fi connection was slow, especially in the evening when there were more guests using it. The bathroom was cramped with the toilet too close to the shower. The shower had good hot water and pressure but the shower head was awkward and we had to use it as a hand held wand. There was some counter space around the sink, but not much. The owners are friendly and gave great advice for exploring the region. Breakfast If you’ve been missing eggs and bacon this is the breakfast for you. In addition to the buffet selection they offered cooked to order eggs served with a large portion of bacon. The buffet included – muesli and cereal, cut melon and whole fruits, juice, dried fruit and nuts, bread including a gluten free option, flakey pastry (the best I’ve seen in Spain), cheese (including the local blue), charcuterie and cake. The filtered coffee unfortunately was not very good, but there was hot milk available. Dinner The cozy dining room with wood trim has a long row of windows with views of the green Asturian hillsides topped by the Picos de Europa. Dinner at is a set menu with a choice of mains – veg, fish or meat. The appetizer was an herbed cheese spread with small toasts, tasty but weirdly served frozen. The second course was a lentil soup, served hot with a bold dose of cumin, quite good. For mains we had the salmon, beautifully cooked with a boiled potatoes and a garnish of cucumber slaw and cachopo, an Asturias version of a cordon bleu with ham and blue cheese wrapped in beef and covered with a thin layer of pastry served with fried flaked potatoes. Tasty but heavy and rich. Service was friendly and efficient. Our second dinner was not so successful. We had a choice of trout, pork knuckle or pasta with pesto. The trout was nicely cooked and served with sides of fried potatoes and agrodolce peppers and onions. The pasta, however, had very little pesto, more of a garnish after thought that a main component, and a good dousing of cheese. The pork knuckle would have been a better choice. It was a generous helping and looked beautifully done. For the starter they served a salad with small shrimp and flavorful strawberries on fresh greens. The dessert again was less successful, a too sweet mousse that was more pudding than a true mousse consistency.

A gem of a place, booked after a Facebook recommendation. As a party of bikers riding round the Picos we used the hotel as a base for 4 nights, and I'm sure if they will allow us we'll be back!! 😁🙈🤣

We stayed here for two nights to hike the Ruta de Cares, and had a lovely experience in this homey, family-run mountain hotel. The rooms are modest, but impeccably clean and well thought out, and the wall of windows with the mind-blowing view make them seem much bigger. (That vista brought us constant delight.) The comfortable bed and strong shower felt especially good after the long hike. We chose Torrecerredo because we read all the glowing reviews about Jim and Pilar's warm hospitality and yummy dinners--and we weren't disappointed. Jim was quick to respond to emails and to reassure me that they could include us for dinner (even after I forgot to sign up in the morning) and he was always around for a fun chat or helpful hiking guidance, complete with hand-drawn maps. Buffet breakfast included eggs to order and the four-course dinners were delicious: fresh ingredients, creative and well prepared. Their soup game is especially strong. We also loved sitting out on the terrace, both at sunset with a beer after hiking and in the early morning, listening to the dogs and roosters in the distance. This is a perfect mountain retreat.

It's a very nice place with very kind people. They are also very dog friendly! But the really amazing thing is the food! Breakfast is great, could easy keep up with 5* Hotels. Diner was absolut delicious for 5 days in a row. Also very comfortable parking. Highly recommended!

We stayed here for two nights. The hotel has free parking. We were given a room with a lovely view however the bathroom had a smell. The hosts were very quick to address the problem and gave us a new room the following day (room 209) as the hotel was full on our first night. They also got someone to look at the issue before the next guests arrived. We had fantastic mountain views from both of our rooms. There was a lovely shower with many functions. There was no noticeable road noise, which is often an issue for us. The bed was large and very comfortable. The towels were soft. Very friendly hosts who speak various languages between them. They gave us good advice on how to order our walks for the day. There was a big variety of hot and cold breakfast options. The brown bread at breakfast was very tasty. You do have to choose a timeslot to go to breakfast so be sure to specify this the night before. Also you are given a sheet to tick what you would like for breakfast and pass it to the waitress on the day. They have a good system. The hotel is walking distance from Arenas de Cabrales where there are some good restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.

Arrived during COVID-19 crisis. Jim, the owner, was excellent in guiding us through the procedures to keep us safe. Our room was comfortable with a view of the mountains once the clouds cleared. Due to the COVID-19 event we had to change plans. Jim was very accommodating and we stayed for an extra few days. Jim was very knowledgeable and showed us some local and stunning walks, providing us with maps and transport to the start/finish points. There is off road parking of cars and motorbikes. I will definitely use this hotel again.

Second visit here so obviously I like it. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms immaculate, the location is perfect for all sorts of activities from sight seeing to some serious walking. But what I think sets the hotel above others is the personal touch. Get in the bar in the evening and you'll find out anything you need to know from Jim or his wife, amazing local knowledge. But must give a shout out to Ade. That young lady is everywhere at all times. This is a relaxed place to stay with some pretty expert local (and wider) knowledge.
