My wife and I and our two adult sons (early twenties) very much enjoyed our one night stay at Chestnut Ridge. In fact are experience was so wonderful that our only regret is that we didn't stay a day or two longer. This B & B is in a great location just an hour from Auckland and a great choice...

I really enjoyed my overnight stay. Janet and John were so welcoming, the room was cosy and comfortable, and the breakfast the next morning particularly delicious with John's homemade bread for toast and homegrown mandarins. Chestnut Ridge is only minutes from where I was working in Te Kauwhata, so it suited me perfectly.

Thanks to Janet and John for offering us a fantastic experience at your lovely lodge. Chestnut picking, table tennis, 'mini concert' from two amazing young men, interesting conversation and of course, full of home grown fruits' breakfast and cosy accommodation with comfortable super king bed and spa bath, what a fantastic weekend there! You made us feel at home and...

Thanks again to Janet & John for a wonderful Wedding Anniversary stay. Exquisite home cooked food (grown on site, including the lamb!), an enormous super king bed with proper feather pillows, views to die for and a fascinating chestnut farm to wander around. I went with my mother & 2 year old and we decided to stay an extra night. Janet & John make you feel like part of the family as...

We had a most wonderful stay at Chestnut Ridge on the weekend. We were welcomed very warmly by both John and Janet and shown straight to our room, which was lovely. Once we freshened up we were asked to join them for drinks and nibbles. The conversation flowed very easily, the food was devine and the surroundings, overlooking Te Kauwhata...

These guys Janet and John Free are the best B & B place we have ever stayed with! Very welcoming despite our very late arrival and a well prepared breakfast was ready for our early departure the very next morning. Kept our gear safe for the day until we returned later in the day. We will be staying there again...

Janet and John are lovely people and very welcoming. We turned up knackered from a 24 hour flight and were delighted with our room. Very comfortable, with top bathroom. The view over the lake in the morning is quite something. Janets chestnut soup is also recommended!

My husband and I recently were in New Zealand for a Motor Race Meeting at Hampton Downs. We were lucky enough to stay at the Chestnut Farm Stay for 2 weekends. What a fabulous place to stay. “There are two rooms to choose from - if you want the most privacy, opt for the Super King room, which is detached slightly from the house but with its own bathroom. The queen room is inside the main house and slightly less private, but still lovely.”

“The external room is a little more private although the internal room can be closed off from the rest of the house and has an external entry.”
