Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Long bumpy drive to get here but my goodness it was so worth it. Breathtaking views, calm, comfortable and the best food. Amazing seafood even for breakfast and the best dessert I’ve ever had made with cinder toffee. I can’t wait to return here

On arrival , we met with David. He booked us in and showed us to our room. He was very warm and friendly. The room was pretty cold on arrival. Maybe heating could be turned up a little more, knowing the room is booked in advance, Dinner was booked for 7.30, and the table was ready for us We do not have the biggest appetites but wanted to try some of the food Cullen Skink with treacle bread 10/10 Soufflé 8/10 Grand platter 10/10 There was no room for anything else other than a coffee Breakfast 10/10 Staff are very nice and extremely friendly I would definitely recommend to my friends and family

We loved this hotel. It was tucked away & super cozy & quiet. What a view! The ferry to Lismore was right out front & super convenient for our daytrip over to the island. We loved sitting by the fire & chatting with other guests. The toiletries smelled divine. I had the most amazing dessert! It was so good I ordered it each night! Would highly recommend the dark chocolate cremeux with sea buckthorn burnt orange cinder toffee. We would highly recommend this accommodation.

Hi BakersOf Halifax This is amazing feedback thank you so much for leaving it for us. As well as our fabulous local suppliers for food and drink, we try to source as many additional products from the local area too. Our toiletries are made by Highland Soaps which is based just a few miles away in Fort William; they forage as many of their ingredients as they can, or have good organic suppliers for the rest. We hope that you will come back and see us again in the future! Best regards Fiona McLean General Manager

Aided by near perfect weather, this was a successful stay in all respects. The rooms are fresh and their design perfectly complements the idyllic (when the sun shines) setting of this bijou hotel. Clear skies meant cold nights and the wood burning stoves made for a cosy atmosphere. An upgrade from "cliff-facing" to "sea view" certainly helped. And then there is the food! Fish eaters enjoy sumptuous fare, whilst there are a couple of tasty options for meat eaters. The full highland breakfast combines quality and quantity, saving the bother of thinking about lunch. We should also mention the very friendly and helpful staff who enhanced our stay.

Hi Steven T This is a wonderful review, thank you so much for leaving it for us. We c ompletely agree that good weather makes a stay on the west coast of Scotland near perfect, however there is also a certain charm in sitting safe and warm by the fires watching waves pound the slipway in a storm! I will be sure to pass your comments on to the whole team, and I do hope that we see you again in the future. Kind regards Fiona McLean General Manager

We only stayed for one night, a journey break on the way to the Outer Hebrides, but it was really memorable. Our cliff facing room was beautifully designed, comfortable and stylish, with lovely extra touches like fresh apples…..and caramel wafer biscuits! Our evening meal was sensational with the best mussels we have ever eaten. Many thanks to all who worked so hard to make it so special.

We've been coming here for years & it never fails to deliver. It's a tad off the beaten path, but it's worth the extra miles. That's what makes the Pierhouse Hotel so special. The rooms are spotless with uber comfortable beds. The rooms that look over the water to Lismore are the biggest, but they are all good. They all have tea & coffee with a small kettle. The cozy dog friendly bar is a treat to behold. We had our meals in the bar as mutley couldn't be left in the room. The staff are dog friendly & ensured she was fussed over with treats & water. Open year-round is a bonus if you are brave enough to explore Scotland over the winter months. Recently installed EV chargers make the Pierhouse accessible for all types of cars.

Hi CleggyBroon This is a fabulous review thank you so much! We love it when members of The Pierhouse Family (which all of our regular guests become!) take the time to leave special feedback for us. Winter on the west coast of Scotland is a magical time, especially on the blue sky days when there is snow on the mountain tops opposite. It's true that we also get some very wet and miserable days too, but if we're honest we get them in the summer too! We do hope to welcome you back to The Pierhouse soon. Warm regards Fiona McLean General Manager

In past for late lunch, initial impression, warm friendly and informative staff. Nice surroundings, maybe a wee bit crammed regarding tables. Food very good and catered well for gluten free. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, hope to return for dinner.

You do not get many reviews from local guests but we live nearby and visit on a regular basis for coffee and the always too infrequent meal. We have never been disappointed and find the whole Pierhouse experience something very special. The views, the ambience and the staff, in particular, are quite exceptional. Bobbie Jo, James, Rita and David normally serve but there are many others in the background who make the Pierhouse a very convivial experience .

I will be sure to pass on your comments to those that you have named individually, but of course the whole team too! We very much hope to be able to welcome you back here soon.
