Olivia House enjoys a prime location favored by guests for its closeness to the waterfront and Main Street. The hotel's atmosphere and unique charm receive accolades, with its eclectic decor contributing to a cozy ambiance. Accommodations elicit mixed reactions; while the quirky and clean rooms are often praised, concerns about maintenance have surfaced. The value proposition is debated; some find it excellent, whereas others feel it falls short. Amenities and complimentary offerings, including wine and Welsh cakes, are warmly received, as is the service, despite occasional cleanliness oversights.

Wow did not expect this 1st class accommodation such a lovely warm welcome, complementary glass of wine and a welsh cake on arrival. Our twin room was perfect we were invited to look around all the other vacant rooms and all were decorated and dressed to the same high standard. The fridge in the room had bottles of orange juice, fresh milk a jar of freshly prepared fruit … I could go on about this gem of a place that we came across and so conveniently situated close to the beach town lovely bars and restaurants will certainly return soon.

Myself and granddaughter stayed at olivia's guest house for the weekend.
We were greeted by jade who made us feel at home right from the start, always willing to accommodate. When we arrived i was offered a,glass of wine for myself welshcakes and chocolates for my grandaughter who is ten, to which I thought was a lovely gesture.
We stayed in a lovely twin room, with en-suite shower.
Beds were lovely clean and comfortable.
The room had a little table and chairs to which we had our breakfast on .
In the room was a fridge iron, ironing board, kettle and tea and coffee.
We had a lovely continental breakfast with fresh fruit on both days.
It is In an ideal location, close to beach and all amenities.
I shall definitely be going back, loved everything about it,little gem.

Olivia House was the perfect place for our little weekend getaway, perfectly situated close to the sea front for a stormy stroll next day, we loved the quirky decor and all the little details and creature comforts! The kilner jar of breakfast fruit salad in the fridge was a particularly lovely touch which we are kicking ourselves we forgot to eat!! We stayed in the kings room in the apex of the roof, at the top of the dinky narrow staircase, the room was cute and characterful and romantic and the perfect blend of luxury and humour. Extremely comfortable bed and everything clean and convenient. Five star. Definitely recommend! 🤩

Just returned from a long weekend stay in this guest house, booked it after being recommended and the five star reviews on trip advisor.there is no way this by any means five star,we stayed in the small attic room (broom cupboard would be more accurate). On arrival my wife noticed the rug between the single beds was filthy, the soap dispenser was covered in gunge which she cleaned, the seat on the toilet pan was loose which I tightened up ,the yogurts in the fridge (part of continental breakfast) were two weeks out of date. Overall this guest house very disappointing ,this cost 95 pounds per night ,I have spent better night in hostels. This guest house needs a deep clean my sister stayed here to her room was thick with dust and the bottom of her shower was all mouldy ,when we left after three nights the rug and floor in the room had still not been cleaned .I would not recommend this guest house and will not be staying here next time I visit family in porthcawl, there are far better places to stay near here at a fraction of the price .

What a surprise. You stayed for 3 nights and at no time did you complain. On the contrary when asked if you required anything and if room was satisfactory you said yes all was lovely. If you had any problems if we had been informed we would have rectified immediately. Many people before and since have stayed in the same room and have left rave reviews .. May I respectfully request that in future if you have a complaint anywhere to inform management immediately not stay 3 days and then make a public complaint AFTER you leave.

We stayed at Olivia house for a weekend with family and loved it there! We stayed in the Angel room which was comfortable and very quirky! The bathroom is amazing and very spacious. The shower is very special as well with dual showers heads, lights and music! We had everything we needed and had free complimentary wine and welsh cakes on arrival which was a nice touch! The hosts were very friendly and made us feel at home. The location is very central too and just round the corner from the beach. I would certainly stay again and recommend already to family and friends.

Stayed overnight on New Years Eve and arrived to the most lovely welcome from the owner, we were shown a lounge and were told to help ourselves to complimentary Wine and cakes, the Welsh Cakes were delicious and such a lovely gesture. We were given our room keys and told our room name and where it was. The room was spotless ,spacious and the decor and furnishings were just fabulous. We had the Kings Room. Continental breakfast was left for the morning . There was plenty of coffee and tea sachets available and orange juice and water in the fridge to drink along with yogurts, cheese and fruit. Chocolate selection box left was another lovely gesture. Nothing was too much trouble and the owner who is such a lovely lady had thought of everything. Look forward to returning to this lovely guest house.

What a lovely place to stay. Located perfectly in the town with the briefest of walks to the front.

The house is massive, like a tardis the rooms are way bigger than you imagine.

Upon arrival we were shown a very warming lounge we could use and then the room itself was huge with a separate bathroom and, a separate shower and toilet room.

The bed and bedding were the most comfortable I have ever slept in and I really didn't want to get up in the morning!

Stay here and you will be very pleased you chose Olivia House

Adjacent to the Porthcawl seafront, Olivia House is a typical late Victoria building of character. Highly convenient for the Royal Pavilion opposite and close to restsuraunts, the town and seaside amenities.
A warm welcome was received and a complimentary glass of wine, Welsh cakes and muffins. The decor is an eclectic mix of art nouveau lamps, bold mirrors and a lot of art and collectables. Rooms are themed and very comfortable with lots of complimentary tea, croissants, fresh fruit salad
, juice and water, so if you didn't want to venture out for a cooked breakfast by the sea this would keep you going until checkoout at 11.
A spotlessly clean, visually vibrant and extremely artisan thus guest house is an absolute delight for those that appreciate something different. The details such as China and artisan cutlery were beautiful and added to the presentation. Lots of fun touches too.

We stayed in The attic French Room but were shown the middle floor rooms before leaving, which were luxurious having voluptuous decor and brand new, very spacious shower rooms with generous walk in showers.

We felt so welcome by Annette's hospitality and no fuss personality that we felt really comfortable to sit in the guest lounge, sip wine and relax!

This, for me is a definite one to return to and makes a trip to this lovely resort that extra bit special.

Loved our brief overnight stay. Delightful accommodation if a little eccentric - just up our street! We were greeted by Grace who immediately made us feel welcome with a glass of wine and a tour of the building. Our host, Annette, was a delight and so friendly. So much so I ended up feeding her Sphinx kittens!!
Our huge bed (in the Kings Rooms) was unbelievably comfortable with the addition of a stylish bath in the bedroom (as well as a shower in the bathroom). When we glanced into the Balcony Suite on our way out we were totally stunned by the space and decor - we'll certainly try to book that next time - if it's available.
Overall a great stay for our brief visit to Porthcawl.

Olivia house is absolutely outstanding , the house itself is beautifully decorated throughout with quirky little things and stunning furniture, the rooms are gorgeous and spotless . A continental breakfast was a lovely little touch with orange juice ,cereal ,yogurts, croissants, jams , fruit , cheese and butter in the fridge . Downstairs were more treats including wine and lovely Welsh cakes . Annette was very warm , friendly and welcomed us into her home , we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning. xx 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
