New Lanark World Heritage Site is a truly unique setting. Surrounded by native woodlands and close to the famous Falls of Clyde, New Lanark was founded in 1785 as a cotton spinning village and became famous as the site of Robert Owen's pioneering social reforms. Now beautifully restored, New Lanark is both a living community and tourist attraction. the 4 Star New Lanark Mill Hotel is a stunning award winning conversion from an original 18th century mill. It offers fantastic views across the surrounding conservation area and River Clyde

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An excellent hotel in a unique setting by the Falls and rapids of the River Clyde. The village’s World Heritage status can be explored of course, but the hotel is also a very convenient and comfortable base for visiting the whole of Central Scotland, with Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling and the Borders in easy reach. Spacious well equipped comfortable rooms An excellent restaurant and a cosy bar. Above all super helpful pleasant staff making your stay even better. Strongly recommended

Room Tip: Lots of parking. WiFi is a bit flaky, and the phone signal in the deep valley can be ellusive

First, the positives. Staying in the heart of a world heritage site, in old old mill building that has been tastefully repurposed. Very well furnished and spacious bedrooms and pleasant reception and dining areas. Everything certainly very clean, good parking and efficient check in. The negatives. There are clear inconsistencies in the quality and service offered in both the restaurant and bar areas. Service was polite, but in the main, quite slow. The a la carte dinner menu appeared interesting to a degree, but for our party of four, the quality of the dishes was wildly inconsistent. One main course was found quite good, however the other three were deemed to be badly executed and without taste. At breakfast, no berries or bananas were in evidence, the hollandaise sauce for an eggs Benedict dish was inferior and from a jar. Plates were not cleared in a judicious manner. The Bar area, was well enough furnished, but strangely without character and atmosphere, and, crucially, failing to stock some items which should have been available. In short therefore, we were all of the opinion that what should be a flagship hotel in such a historical setting was being let down by a poorly managed catering service. If the problems were rectified, and food standards raised to what should be expected of an upmarket hotel, then New Lanark would be much much better served.

Sadly the food was not of a good standard. Had to send the steak back - inedible- second one was not eaten. Sadly very disappointed. Young staff who have no experience (lovely people but not hotel standard). Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Went to New Lanark Hotel with my 3 sisters and mum for a Mother’s Day Spa overnight. Initially, we were extremely disappointed with the pool facilities due to lack of beds/relaxation area and the hot tub being very cold. Vicky however, the masseuse, made our day amazing. We all had a very unique experience where Vicky spoke with us and gave us a treatment/massage adapted to suit us. Each of us said we have never experienced such a holistic experience included in a spa package and can’t emphasises enough how amazing she is. We will definitely be back. Thank you Vicky 💕

I stayed here for work, and immediately regretted not bringing my walking shoes for a stroll up to the falls. The hotel is brilliantly situated on the River Clyde and is easy to get to Glasgow. Having stayed in southern Scotland previously to break up the journey to places further north this hotel would be much more preferable to roadside hotels I've used in the past

Nice hotel, spacious all round, including the room. Spa was lovely, had dinner and breakfast, and both were good. Didn't use the bar but it looked nice and I think you can get food there too. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend for a nice peaceful break.

We loved the location, great walks and the spa was lovely. Food was good along with service, couldn’t fault it. Very interesting visitor center at the old mill. If you like a bit of history, walks, spa and food well this is a place for you.

This hotel is a restored mill in a UNESCO world heritage site. It’s a beautiful location in southern Scotland in a place that’s full of Industrial Revolution history. Spacious rooms and friendly staff. The view out of my window was really something. Highly recommended.

Only reason for Service not given full marks, was issues with getting food to us (at table of 8) promptly and still hot. Staff were great and friendly, but struggling with busy restaurant. Everything else was very good, and pleasant not to be in a “chain” hotel. New Lanark is a lovely spot, and walks and facilities around the hotel, plus the Spa in hotel, means there are lots of things to do to make a stay memorable.

Good size accessible room with lots of room in the accessible bathroom with walk in wet room. As a stroke survivor, I felt very safe using the shower as there were numerous hand grips. Breakfast and dinner were great. The egg Florentines and the lamb dish were very well cooked. It was great to see fresh vegetables being served in generous portions.
