The hotel is lovely, Very clean and very covid aware as in menorca it’s still law to have a face covering and the staff are great at enforcing this. Cleaners are excellent, our maid cleaned and maintained the rooms great and daily ensuring it was spotless upon our return. You get towels to use at the sun beds, which we’ve never had a issue getting as theirs many sun beds and their very comfortable and clean. As I say out of season so could change in peak season. The bars are a little pricy at the hotel and not really the best if I’m honest but cannot complain the only thing I can be picky with is that the straws are shocking if you pull them to extend and bend they snap and have holes in not really the best for a €6:50 cocktail. The music round the pool is horrendous (like elevator music all day) this should be addressed as most holiday makers I’ve spoken with agreed it’s pretty shocking and would rather sit in silence or put some classic Spanish tunes on!😂

The shop on the hotel grounds isn’t anything amazing, rather pricey for what it’s got. We found a shop up the road which sold stuff at half the price but then again the shop on hotel grounds is going to change more for convenience as I would expect!.

The life guard ensures the pool area is tidy and is constantly putting sun beds and tables back in place and arranging them once people have left, he’s a legend and keeps the pool area looking amazing. Take a bow sir small things are noticed!. been told so by other holiday makers who come often throughout the year the pool is always ice cold but kids had no issues swimming in it.

The pool bar and staff are excellent. They always keep the tables and bar clean as well as the pool area for glasses and cups. The food is great and always fresh to order.

The hotels food is great always a choice, always fresh ans always something for everyone. Breakfast is always great as well as diner in the afternoon. Again drinks a little pricy but again what do you expect. Staff always go above and beyond ensuring tables are cleaned and ready for use again by other holiday makers.

The cove and beach are exceptional and beautiful, well kept. The Sun beds at the beach are €20:50 a day! Way to much money for my liking we did it one day as the beach to lay on can be uncomfortable but I don’t feel the €20:50 a day is cost effective for holiday makers and in some sense is making sure they make money off you. On the beach are two cafes. Both nice not badly priced and drinks are good too… the location in which the beach is is only a minuet or two from the hotel and has shops close by to both the hotel and beach as well as restaurants and bars.

If your looking for a 4 star holiday and a 5 star experience with great local shops, restaurants and service look no further.

Thank you very much for all your comments and feedback about your stay at our hotel. We would especially like to thank you for your words about our staff. Allow me to respond to some of your comments. The new measures and policies regarding recycling, reuse and not using plastic materials force us to use substitute products that are not as effective. We will continue to look for elements that maintain their functionality and are environmentally friendly. The shop you mention is on the hotel premises, but it does not belong to the hotel. We hope to see you again in the future. Guest Experience Grupo Galdana

Just returned after 10 days of relaxation in 25 + degrees. Hotel as good as our last visit 3 years ago. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. A few changes have occurred especially around the balcony’s which have been brought into the room, I assume because of safety but given the vast area of space barely frequented outside it was no issue
We asked for a kettle and bought the essentials locally at a decent price. Shower was great and room fine
The food was spot on with great choice, the Spanish sausages were similar to ours back home, least said about the bacon though but that’s the norm in Spain. Everyone was very helpful and exceptionally Covid aware, with hand gel everywhere
Entertainment is on 5 nights a week with two of those nights quizzes, but for the live acts we enjoyed the ABBA group best
Daytime was spent by the excellent pool and bar. Loads of beds, socially distanced too and no need to put towels on them! Staff such as Fabio, Juan and Pippa were highly efficient and work their socks off
I’d mark it 5 but for a lack of patio heaters which are needed at night as it goes very chilly
We collectively need to realise too that with Covid in particular, prices have risen especially drinks. All around the resort we paid a minimum of €4.40 a pint so it’s not cheap anymore, and the hotel was similar
A great stay, met great people, great weather, great location and definitely a great time to visit tin these difficult times.

Hotel Galda exceeded my expectations on every level. The staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. My room on the top floor looked down on the cliff face rather than at it and although it didn't get any sun, there was plenty of natural light. Linen and towels were changed every other day, the bathroom was well maintained and kept spotlessly clean as were all areas of the hotel. Lovely shower cubicle with plenty of hot water and there is a large lighted mirror and powerful hairdryer in the bathroom. The restaurant offered a breakfast and dinner buffet and you can help yourself to a very wide range of foods. There was something to suit everyone with a wide range of international favourites as well as local specialities and I enjoyed trying new foods. Pescatarians will love the range of fish dishes and vegetarians will have plenty of choice. Good labelling of the food to cater for different dietary requirements. There were 2 microwaves available which might be useful for warming baby foods. I ate very well indeed and was glad to make use of the free sauna to try and loose the extra weight! There was a small gym but that would have required too much effort! Hot drinks from the machines weren't particularly nice but they dispensed hot water and sachets of coffee and teabags were available. As others have said, drinks for evening meals must be purchased which is not unusual in my experience. The free WiFi was excellent and pool/ beach towels are also provided which is a great help. The hotel and guests were very respectful regarding covid regulations and masks wearing is enforced. October was my perfect time to visit as everywhere was very quiet. I'm glad I chose the half board option as most restuarants and bars had shut for the winter. You could hear a pin drop by 11pm which suited me fine. The beach is a 1 minute walk from the hotel and reached by a little wooden Bridge across a stream where boats are moored and you can watch the fish and ducks. The sea was still warm enough for swimming and the beach is beautiful and clean with clear water and soft silvery sand...perfect for family holidays. Sunbeds were expensive at €20 so bring a lilo! Plenty of shade available under the pine trees that fringe the beach. There were a few beach cafes and a lifeguard in attendance. If you enjoy walking then you can walk in 2 directions for 30 minutes and discover some more stunningly beautiful bays. The bus to ciutadella runs a few times each day from the stop outside the hotel and costs €3 each way...well worth a visit. This was my first visit to Menorca and I was amazed by the beauty of the island and the friendliness of the people. Cala Galdana would probably be too busy for me in the summer but Autumn was perfect. I would love to return and do more walking along the Cami or relax In comfort at this lovely hotel. Thank you.

Myself and my partner flew with jet2.com good to see their staff are bilingual. On Arrival to the hotel I spoke in spanish to the receptionist being half spanish myself and got an upgrade to a big terrace with sunloungers and table and chairs. Room was cleaned every day and had a laugh chatting to the housekeepers in spanish. Breakfast and evening meals were superb spanish italian and english food. The restaurant manager always served us as we always spoke in spanish. Nice area lovely beaches and we went to the bus stop across the road and for €2.95 each we got the L52 bus to Ciutadella they had lots of shops and tobacco shops a 50g pouch of Amber leaf costs €8.75 very cheap you can buy lots of souvenirs in ciutadella there also is a Mercadona hypermarket there. Taxi prices are outdated on leaflets showing €13-17 I then discovered this was 2015 prices. We got a taxi from ciutadella to cala galdana and it cost us €27. When you order your drinks in the evenings they enter your room number and drinks on their mini notepad which then gets transmitted to reception and you pay on checkout. I found the drinks too expensive they charged €7.50 for a diet coke and fanta. On checkout you have to pay the tourist tax of €3.30 per person per night. Juaneda clinic for pcr tests before flying back to the uk costs €75 per person and the clinic is down the road about 4 mins walk from the hotel. The hotel has daily activities and evening entertainement.

We had a lovely family holiday but some bits definitely better than others.
Good points - 1. not allowing any towels on sunbeds until after 9am, this meant there was no need to get up too early and there were often spare sunbeds towards the back. 2. All staff were lovely and hardworking. 3. black out blinds in room allowed the kids to sleep in. The rooms were literally pitch black, and cool too, the air con was brilliant.
Needs improvement- 1. WiFi didn’t work for us in our room or around the pool 2. kids club was basic, just colouring in and painting mainly so our children (4,6 & 9) had no interest in doing it. 3. Lots of people seemed to use the pool who clearly weren’t staying. In the afternoon they’d be a large influx of young Spaniards, who weren’t staying in the accommodation sitting around usually smoking. We paid a lot to come away to a family resort and hotel, I don’t think it would take much for the lifeguard to every now and again ask non familiar faces to confirm their room number.

Thank you for sharing your review. We regret that we did not fully live up to your expectations. Some of the things you mention need to be clarified. Out of respect for other guests we are not allowed to reserve the sun loungers, as everyone has the same right to use them. The hotel swimming pool is for the exclusive use of the clients of the facilities (hotel or restaurant) and although we always try to control it, the lifeguard cannot obviate his main job with distractions. This is an aspect that we must review and improve. In the Balearic Islands smoking is not allowed on bar terraces or in swimming pools and compliance is the responsibility of both customers and employees and we apologise for not having been able to correct the situation with the appropriate diligence. We hope to continue to improve and look forward to welcoming you in the future. Guest Experience Grupo Galdana.

Though the Melia takes centre stage in the resort the location of the hotel is great. Just tucked away a tiny bit, but right in the centre, and usefully opposite the bus stop. 200m to the fantastic beach.

The resort is small and lovely, formed round a tight bay of white sand backed by limestone cliffs and pine clad hills. Perfection. The hot walk over the headland path to the secluded beach at Cala Macarella is especially recommended.

There’s 2 or 3 buses a day to Ciutadella and Mao. The buses are in fact air conditioned coaches, quick and comfortable.

We were lucky to stay in an annex suite, so maybe our experience is different to the main building. The suite was superb. With our own patio, inner patio, lounge, mini kitchenette (no sink or hob), large bedroom and open plan shower room with separate toilet. All furniture is stylish, modern and new. Housekeeping is immaculate.

You have use of two pools – which are really lovely pools superbly clean and well maintained. There’s beautiful pool furniture too – no tacky white plastic stuff here.

The entertainment is high quality, with a different single act each evening - obviously each might not be to your taste, but there is a variety.

While the food isn’t gourmet it is very good, quite varied and plentiful. Very full breakfast offering. The dining room is well managed. Plate clearing if anything a tad too brisk. The show cooking is far too slow and not the best really. Nice wine range from €14. Oh and don’t buy bottled water, there’s free filtered chilled water on tap.

Overall a great well located hotel in a lovely resort. Fully four star.

We just returned from this hotel and have to say it was just lovely. From the moment we checked in the reception staff looked after us and offered us a small ‘apartment’ away from the main building with separate bedrooms/bathrooms and shared balcony so myself and son could be with my parents also travelling with us. All the staff are so lovely and work so hard especially the bar staff who seem to work all day and night. Food was excellent and drinks reasonably priced. Great that the pool didn’t open until 9am so people couldn’t take sun beds at silly hours of the morning.

The resort itself was also great with a 5min walk to the beach which was very busy - sun beds are 20e a day for 2 beds and a parasol so worth getting there by 10am to get one. Good little supermarket and small shops dotted about and very good restaurants. We caught the bus outside the hotel to Ciudella which was worth a trip.

The only complaint I have is that many non-residents use the pool areas. One day a rowdy large group came in and sat in the snack bar for hours and took over the place creating a lot of stress for the poor bar staff. And even spraying and putting sun cream on etc where food served. Also people come from outside and take sun beds which I see has been raised before from previous comments however obviously isnt addressed. There was lack of management around the pool and given we paid a lot to stay it’s bad if you can’t get a sun bed. Also some people were sat in the lovely snack bar in swimwear and men with no tops which also isn’t managed which I found really unhygienic when meals are being served. Again not well monitored.

We stayed for 4 nights at the beginning of May and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had booked a Prestige Suite so that we were guaranteed a balcony & it was well worth the extra money. The suite did have a musty/damp smell on arrival but after the balcony doors from the bedroom and the living area were opened it soon disappeared. Lots of stairs to climb but we were aware of that and the view from balcony was lovely. We booked B&B and the breakfast buffet had a good choice of hot and cold food available and the staff in the restaurant were friendly and keen to clear away used plates etc. Pool area was great, always loungers available at any time of day and the pool bar staff were always helpful and smiling. We ate out in the evenings and had a lovely meal every night but would definitely recommend Sa Lluna, beautiful food. All in all a great short break!!!!

My wife and I visited this hotel during the last fortnight of June. We had a great time so we took a cheeky eleven day holiday there again in September. We found all of the staff to be friendly. The first time around we reserved a front facing room which was lovely. In September, we did not pay the additional fee for a front facing room, but were upgraded upon arrival. Apparently, it is the policy of the hotel to upgrade if circumstances allow - so we were lucky! For the price you're paying the rooms are not bad. Thd food is good, but you might struggle with a wide choice if you are vegetarian (like my wife). There are still selfish people who believe that it is acceptable to claim a sun lounger beside the pool be placing their towel on it and deserting it for many hours, but by and large, this is not a problem. The evening entertainment is mixed, but generally enjoyable. As for the prices at the bar, these were not expensive ( two coffees by the pool were less than €6 and a wine and alcohol free beer around €7 from memory). The hotel's location provides a five minute stroll to the beach which was pleasant at 7 a.m. or 8p.m. We had a thoroughly good time both trips so a BIG thank you to the hotel staff!

Can't fault this hotel for cleanliness inside or outside around grounds and pool area. Spotlessly clean. Restaurant facilities excellent. Amazing choice of food for breakfast and dinner each day. Menus changed daily with extensive choice of starters, mains & desserts. Plates were cleared promptly allowing you a clean table for your next course. This may be more difficult at height of season but certainly in quieter month of October service was excellent. Masks were worn by all staff at all times & sanitiser readily available throughout the hotel. All staff we encountered were helpful & courteous making for a very pleasant stay. Would visit this hotel again in future & happy to recommend. All in all, Cala Galdana is a lovely area of Menorca to visit for a more laid back holiday with a beautiful safe beach & bay.
