Hotel's Favourite
I had not been to Menorca since I was teenager and boy was I suprised! After some exhausting few months, a stay in Artiem Audax was exactly what I needed to recover both mentally and phisically. The hotel, like all Artiems, has that joie de vivre feeling that their staff transmits from the moment you set foor on the door. Their location in beautiful Cala Galdiana and convinient for hiking to other groogeous secluded beaches is perfect. I was also impressed with the themal circuit in their spa and with the quality of the activities they offer with top-level professionals conducting everythig from yoga to kayak tours. A special mention to the friendly staff in the breakfast room and the bartender at the pool's lounge who prepared a killing tiki cocktail! I will come back to this little paradise, that's only one hour flight away from where I live.

Dear Mr. Ocejo, Thank you very much for revisiting Menorca after such a long time and especially for having trusted Artiem for chilling out last October. Cala Galdana is indeed a perfect setting to unwind and fully enjoy nature, something highly needed these days. We appreciate that you tried both our active and relaxing proposals and we are very happy to read that you really enjoyed them. The whole team is looking forward to welcoming you back anytime you feel that you are missing paradise. Best wishes, Maria del Valle

It was our first trip after one year and a half, so we've decided we deserved a good hotel even paying a bit more. And Artiem Audax was not only good, it was excellent. From the reception until the bar, everything made our stay perfect. The hotel is close to supermarkets, restaurants and, if you enjoy walking, you can go to the most famous beaches on foot. Special compliments to the hotel restaurant, amazing food and service. You can feel the staff do everything to make your stay unforgettable.

We stayed in Artiem Audax for a short September getaway trip. It wasn’t our first time to Menorca, so we knew what to expect from the island, but we went for a new hotel this time. We booked online through the hotel website, which seemed to be the best value method. The hotel has a really good location. It’s very close to the beach, but not on it, which is a plus. Due to seaweed the beach might sometimes smell, but the hotel is at a safe distance with an amazing view of the beach and cliffs. There are shops nearby, as well as some restaurants, bars, and the dock, where you can go for a nice evening walk. One of the best things in Artiem is the view from the pool area – probably the best view any hotel in Cala Galanda has. You get a panoramic view of the lovely town, dock, the cliffs, and the sea. The pool itself has a very aesthetic design. There’s an amazing spot for outdoor massage. There are comfy loungers, nice ambient music, and thanks to the “adults only” policy, the pool is a very quiet and relaxing space. There is a well-equipped gym, with indoor and outdoor areas. Perfect for a light workout, with long opening hours. The room was everything that we expected it to be. It definitely wasn’t one of those surprises, which you sometimes have after seeing pictures online and facing reality. It was very clean, with a comfortable bed, great storage, and a good shower. We didn’t go for the sea view room, but we asked for a top floor room, and our request was kindly acted on. The only negative in the room was the air conditioning. It can only be turned on or off, there’s no temperature control. During the initial, very humid weather we had, it just didn’t cool enough. The bathroom only had a small extractor fan, so it was always too hot and humid. My girlfriend had a hard time to dry her long hair in the very hot bathroom, so she ended up drying her hair without a mirror in the slightly colder hall area. The balcony was large and private with a good view of the nature nearby. The bathroom was well equipped with plenty of shampoo, shower gel, and even conditioner, with a pleasant herbal smell. Food and drink were fantastic - we went for the half-board option, and we didn’t regret it. Initially, our goal was to lose weight, but we could not resist temptation! Every evening we enjoyed fresh fish, excellent pasta, a variety of salads and sides, and delicious deserts. A big bravo to Pedro and Pablo who cooked up our fish and pasta before us every night. We appreciated the friendly approach and talent. The pistachio ice-creams were the best we had in life, and we are pistachio fanatics. It’s worth to mention the restaurant’s very smart option – that once you order a bottle of wine, it is kept for you between nights. So, it’s great if you want a good wine and only a glass per day. Equally to dinner, breakfast was fantastic, with a variety of options that should suit the breakfast preferences of people from anywhere! The Pool Bar also has a great selection. Our favorite was a crispy chicken brioche. We’d like to mention that we’ve seen some negative comments about paying for water with dinner. This is mentioned on the wine menu and is a normal practice in Spain and in most of Europe – many places are not serving free tap water and you are paying for filtered bottled water. The staff were great, especially helpful, and friendly people at the reception, very professional waiters, waitresses, and cooks in the restaurant, very easy-going yet professional staff at the pool bar. Here we must mention David at The View bar, who made such delicious drinks, and had the best attitude, great to chat to and have a laugh. The only negative experience we had with the staff was at the Spa reception. Of course, anyone can have a bad day, but it happened to us three times with the same receptionist… Not to get into too much detail, but in our opinion, it wasn’t the most pleasant holiday experience to talk to this person. We really felt dismissed each time, weren’t welcomed and even though we took it in our stride, it left a bad taste afterwards. You need a certain kind of attitude and manner for working at the front desk and it clearly wasn’t there in these encounters. We don’t want to point fingers publicly and give a name, but we feel the hotel probably knows who we are talking about… The wellness spa was the most inconvenient experience we had, partially because of what we mentioned above about the receptionist. However, another reason was process of booking. We pre-booked our massage online, while ordering our room, but we couldn’t choose a time slot then. The complication was that upon inquiring after arrival, there was limited availability for our short stay. This could be easily improved with integrating an online booking system so available slots could be seen, and the date and time could be confirmed when booking initially. In the end, it appears this pre-booking is not booking anything at all, and the real booking is in the paper calendar at the spa reception. Unfortunately, we felt the evening entertainment wasn’t very impressive. It’s good to mention that it is not daily. During our stay of five days, there were two DJ evenings, which wasn’t as engaging as maybe, for example, a dance performance or live music could be. A solo guitarist would have been a better memory than music from the speakers. We’ve seen live musicians on the hotel’s social media and were disappointed that we didn’t experience something like that – perhaps it is only at the peak of high season. Considering social distancing, there were also not enough seats for everyone to enjoy the bar area in the evening. Maybe removing some of the loungers and providing more tables and chairs at the time would be a solution. Given the COVID-19 restrictions, everyone in the staff and the guests were very cautious and careful with mask-wearing. There were also hand sanitizers throughout the hotel and restaurant staff were ensuring that guests used these upon arrival. Overall, we felt very safe, and yet not inconvenienced. The safety measures were well integrated into the hotel experience. Our final opinion on the hotel is that it lives up to its 4-star reputation. It has a fantastic location, comfy rooms, delicious food, professional staff (with one exception), a variety of options for relaxation or activities, and potential for even more. Only the entertainment and air conditioning were not 100% for us. It’s a hotel we would recommend to anyone who is looking for a good quality place to stay, whether to relax or be active in the beautiful neighborhood of Cala Galdana.

Good hotel but no evening entertainment. In a 4 star hotel? Some people may be disappointed by dinner only being first available at 8 pm. (Other Spanish hotels do open much earlier, even adult only hotels.) Very helpful and friendly staff.
