The best room we've had in our stay in Nordeste !!!
The house is just in the center of the old part of Sao Luis near all museums, markets, restaurants...It is a beautiful old house that has been renovated by its italian owners with characters, nice materials and sense of details...Our room was large, ideal for a 4 person family with a nice (but quite small) bathroom -with hot shower of course. Beds have "moustiquaires" which add charm to the room. Very quiet.
You feel a very kindly familial atmosphere just like beeing at home.
Nice breakfast with everything fresh, just like fruits, sucos, croque-monsieur, eggs...
Stefania may give you good advice and tries to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
Nota : just under the House is the famous travel agency Nordeste famous to organize stays in Lencois.
Hope to go there again !!!

We were 3 of us, and were remarquably received; the italian couple who nicely renovated this colonial house are extremely nice and make you feel at home in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The room and bathrooms are comfortable and extremely clean and breakfast is good and generous and Stephania the hostess takes a very good cake of you, providing information, maps, tips... wifi access available and working well.
In a nutshell, we had a very nice stay...
I would also heavily recommand the Pizzeria del Centro the new restaurant that this couple recently opened on the historical central square, delicious, perfecly located.

We stayed at casa lavinia for 2nights, and it was a great experience! The host, Giuseppe, was so friendly and helpful. He showed us all the rooms of the hostel (this was possible because we were the only guests at the time, as he was renovating the hostel), and every single room is especially decorated and has its "special name and topic". The house has an old colonial style, is very clean and well located, and the breakfast was very good as well. Giuseppe showed us around the neighbourhood and in the night we had the chance to go out with him.
We had a lot of fun - thanks for this great experience Giuseppe!

We had the disadvantage that the owners were not in the hotel during our stay, which we think would have left us with less mixed feelings. The rooms correspond to the pictures shown on the website, although the indoor garden looked more promising than it was in reality. Walls are not “sound proof”. Breakfast was average.

Like São Luis itself, this place has clearly seen much better days. Service (apart from the breakfast lady) was non-existent, bedlinen didn't fit the mattress (itself sagging & deformed), room was dirty, no guest fridge (daily temp 35C!). Luckily we had the large room with windows-a "privilege" denied the others. Stay at Frankie's next door-avoid this over-priced, poorly run place 👎

This pousada is really special. We stopped there only for a night, so we were not really demanding. What is special and nice is the very old style of the building and the room, very charming. On the other side, don't expect to have the same comfort than for a modern hotel, especially for the noise.

Spent almost a week here and loved it. Great rooms, thoughtfully decorated made for a truly comfortable stay. More a pousada than a hotel I would recommend this great place to anyone who doesn't want a fancy 5 star place. (Most 5 star rated hotel in Brazil are more like 3 star anywhere else) Great breakfasts. It is really like staying at a house but without the discomfort of having to worry about your host.

Lovely little place to stay in Sao Luis. Friendly staff, great breakfast and very helpful all round. The historic centre feels a bit shifty at night but it's pretty central to the restaurants and they can call taxis no problem if you want to go further afield. I would definitely recommend this.
