Stayed here with friends and family for a week and found it a very friendly and clean site. Site goes quiet at 11pm and everyone near us complied. The shower block is clean and during this pandemic cleaned very regularly with social distancing measures in place. The pitch was large which means it was big enough for us to put a gazebo up between my tent and my friends caravan. Great area surrounding the site a short walk (20 mins) to rocky beach with cafe and approx same into town where there are take aways and supermarkets. We will definitely be back.

First impressions was that the grounds were tidy and my husband had a warm greeting at the reception.

We didn't eat at the cafe nor did we use the shop.
But I did come across few members of staff, who were very friendly.

So can't fault the staff and grounds.

The showers and toliets, washing area, disabled room, family room is under one roof.

The run down block could do with some maintenance.
Blocked shower drains and a broken toliet seat.

A bucket and mop was placed outside the showers, for one to clean up afterwards but the water in the bucket was so dirty, that I thought better of it.
Cobwebs, which is expected being an out building, but there were quite a lot. Even overheard a few kids commenting about them, whilst I using the facilities.

The lights in the shower and toliet block came on a timer at night (9.30ish).
The good thing that it had going for it, was the hot water.

There wasn't a sign up or any indication when the block would be closed for cleaning and we never saw anyone around.

The playground had seen better days, to be honest, it was quite hazardous.
The climbing frame wasn't secured to the ground.
The rubber tiles were curled at the corners, loose and raised off the ground (trip hazard).
A picnic table that needed removing/replacing/fixing. Very dangerous, if a small child was to fall by it. Can't believe it was left out there like that, especially in a kids playground where they had car toys around (wasn't removed then we left).

If the owners paid a little more attention on the areas that need looking at, we would definitely go back.

My family of 2 adults and daughters aged 14 and 10 enjoyed our stay here. The campsite owners are a friendly, helpful couple who did everything to make our stay enjoyable. The youngest loved the play area and games room and the rest enjoyed watching from the cafe. Left my iceblocks in my freezer at home but they kindly lent me some. They were knowledgeable about the area and let me know the route to the beach.

Our pitch was in a lovely sheltered spot with hedges on 3 sides and an oak tree. Unfortunately a couple of nights after arrival storm Francis hit and the lovely oak tree finished off our tent when a small branch fell down and punctured the roof. We were sad to have to go early.

This is a very run down, DIRTY and poorly managed campsite. On arrival we were allocated a pitch that was completely unsuitable for what we had explained we need when we booked. So we had to settle for that as we had already paid and had no where else to go. We had to pick up dog poo on our pitch and we were frequently visited by big rats and whilst it is a farm the campsite is so disgusting it is clearly attracting them more.

During a heat wave of 33 degrees the facilities and toilets had not been cleaned for 4 days. We went to the woman manager and asked for the facilities to be cleaned as there had been a takeaway box of food left on the side for 4 days rotting, the drains stank, the bins hadn’t been emptied and there was hair and dirt everywhere. She assured us it would be cleaned that day although said “I am on my own”. On our return that evening, to our horror; it still had not been cleaned and the smell of rotting food and blocked drains was still there. We went back to reception and were told they didn’t do it due to the heat and that it would be done the next day at 5pm. There was no excuse for the bins and cleaning not to have been done, regardless of the heat this was disgusting and was their responsibility. It was cleaned that day but it was poorly done and there was no soap.

As you can see in the photos the facilities are thick with dust and cobwebs, there are broken doors, mould all up the walls and the drains need some serious work as they are constantly blocked and drain away really slowly. The cigarette bin is overflowing and hasn’t been emptied for months. The place needs a huge revamp it is tired and neglected. To be honest this could have been forgiven if it was clean but that just tipped it over.

It I sad because it’s a lovely spot (beach and nice town centre in walking distance) but they seem to have given up caring and rely on the income of the many people who live their in statics and also live in caravans. The campsite and owners/managers seem depressed.

The iron doesn’t exist, the hairdryers blow cold air and the dishwashing area is strewn with mouldy sponges and dirt.

We didn’t want to eat their because of how dirty it was everywhere else and we didn’t want to give any more of our money.

We will never come back here and we urge anyone to stay well away from this disgusting place

Excellent stay would 100% stay again. Very peaceful and fab for families. Shower cubicle could do with cleaning more often and mop regularly changed. Staff are also really fab and friendly. Town centre and beach not a far distance

No information on arrival, apart from being shown to the pitch. The pitch was wide enough, but not very deep even for our small van. The 'road' by the pitches was too narrow to easily reverse caravan onto pitch. Without a motor mover this will be a problem for many. Pitch was relatively flat despite the location being on a hill.

Pitches behind are too close for fire regulations.

Grey water and toilet waste have to go to the same disposal place. Lifting a 45kg grey water tank to nearly waist height is ridiculous.

Far too many dogs on site and not enough owners cleaning up after them.

Toilet and shower facilities adequate, but need more attention and looking tired. Often no toilet roll left. I'm sorry, but I won't mop the shower floor with filthy black water from your bucket.

I wanted to score it more than 2/5, but the negatives are too big.

After many years of enjoying this campsite, this will be the last time we go after a really negative experience.
* On booking we were promised we would be pitched next to our friends- 3 families with young children so when they were all in bed, the adults could enjoy some time together outside the tents, hence why we had to be together. This didn't happen and when I questioned this, the lady shrugged her shoulders and said it wasn't her who took the booking. We managed to move close ish but one of the families had to leave a day early as another group were coming. Why that group took priority over our group who had booked back in March, who knows?
* The pitches are so small, crammed together so it's quite uncomfortable. Especially with cars coming back and forth all day, kids couldn't play safely. If they're going to squeeze tents in, maybe they should allow cars next to tents just for arrival and departure. There's literally just room for a car to get through with tents either side. Ice never known it so full which is great for business but felt like sardines in a tin!
* The pitch right next to the cafe were smoking a serious amount of cannabis from dawn till dusk. Staff couldn't have missed it. It used to be a family campsite and this wouldn't have been tolerated before.
*Toilet and shower block needs maintenance. The family shower was nothing but a trickle due to a an old bent pipe which I had to prop up with my shampoo bottle.
*We were told to clean our toilet using the outside drinking taps by a member of staff! First time we took our own toilet but luckily, another camper showed us where we were supposed to go!
* Kids playground was always brilliant but now the trampoline is broken and the games room was shut with all the ride ons that all the kids loved using stacked inside. The payable ride ons were available though so this can't be due to covid. Maybe they just want to make some extra cash?
* This has never happened before and I guess it goes hand in hand with being next to a farm but the farmer was harvesting until 11pm which kept all the babies in the site up! The noise was unbelievable and was the end to our pretty rubbish break.
* On a positive note, the man who maintains the pitches was really friendly. Its a nice walk down to the beach and Llantwit is lovely. The cafe serves lovely breakfast.
Sadly, we won't be returning after it being one of our favourite sites for years. We skipped a year last year due to Covid and its like a completely different campsite now.

Recently stayed for 2 nights at the camp site. We were on a pitched tent spot with electric hook up - you couldn’t ask for much more from the location! Small cafe and reception area on the main entrance, site is locked after a certain time at night with key code access so you feel safe in your tents. Friendly staff at reception & the cafe! Little play area for the children, sitting area inside & out. Bathroom facilities were always clean and never out of paper!! Plenty of room in the ladies to get ready in the morning loads of mirror space! You honestly couldn’t ask for much more! Beach location is only a few minutes away in the car with free parking. Could walk it but there are a few blind bends if walking with the little ones.

We Visited the farm and beautiful wild flowers which helped us to build up a ravenous appetite. We became aware that the Acorn cafe was on site so naturally, we were thrilled. It was 11:40am and We stood in line with our infant daughters behind 2 other families. Both families ordered what sounded like a succulent all day breakfast. We came to the front of the line within 7 seconds of the previous family to discover that they were no longer serving the “all day” breakfast. Not only that but they were not serving any food at all for another hour. Bemused and deflated we limped out of the cafe. Kids are crying. Won’t be returning. Breakfast also looked horrific so maybe we were lucky.

My husband and I stayed here last weekend as my son, daughter-in-law and grandsons live in Llantwit, however they have a small house and we have purchased an Autosleeper so they recommended it. They use the cafe often as it’s open to the public with a lovely little play area. It’s a great little site, toilets and showers clean and never too busy, well kept site. Close to town for supplies and the coast. I envisage this being our go to place when visiting the family for the future. Thank you. P.s. lovely to see a dog friendly site with people respecting that.
