We discovered Seeds of Hope because a friend raved to us about this gorgeous haven of rest. Seeds of Hope provide a secure car park where their boat collects you to take you to their island. The service is exceptional, the tree house cottages are in a stunning location, immaculately clean (the first time I’ve ever come across a place where the blankets were freshly washed and fragrant!) with decks overlooking the water, the food was way better than other places we’ve stayed at on the other islands, they light fires for you in the evenings either outside by the water or in their ‘Snug House’ where there’s a lounge with board games available & a pot belly stove. The staff will bring you early morning coffee before you have your breakfast in the restaurant (even up until 11am) The canoes are available for just 5,000 Ugs (£1!) an hour. There’s a swimming deck, swinging seat, hammock set up in their garden, walks you can take around the island where you can encounter the friendly local neighbours who have also been helped by Seeds of Hopes impressive community projects. There’s absolutely nothing negative to say about this excluded hideaway. I would suggest contacting them on watsapp on +256 772 531 019 where Philip can answer any questions and make a booking. The road all the way to Bunyonyi has also been newly paved and completed which makes it a much easier journey (6 hours from Kampala) If you’re not able to travel out of Uganda at the moment, I highly recommend heading to Seeds of Hope for a welcome break.

Amazing place on an island on Lake Bunyonyi with fantastic views .getting there by small boat The staff are wonderful . Very attentive to all your needs . Can’t do enough for you . Hilary the chef cooks really great meals . A good varied menu with lots of fresh fruit ..The accommodation is comfortable with an African feel .Locally made crafts are on sale .It is a very peaceful place to relax and the sundown deck is great to swim from . The bird songs are wonderful to listen to especially in the mornings .This small resort supports several projects which improve the quality of lives in the local community in the surrounding hills around the lake help building water tanks being one of them . A must visit place to relax in the peace and quiet of this wonderful place .

Seeds of Hope Itimbara Island

I visited Seeds of Hope in 2018 and wrote a glowing review then. I just had to return again and it truly felt like coming home. It is rustic, relaxing and the staff are so very helpful & friendly. We were joined by our African friends with five children. It was such a thrill for the kids being able to enjoy a boat ride, see a Zebra, Impala, & other wild life. Chef Hillary and his staff are always so flexible and the meals are great. It truly was a magical time for all in this special place.

Wonderful stay at this incredible island resort! Amazing views, fabulous staff, great food.

Stayed in Bamboo cottage this time. Room is as per website description and photos. It also benefits from a large balcony with breathtaking views over the lake and neighbouring islands.

The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Food is delicious with a wide range of options available. Portions are large with lots of locally grown organic produce and plenty of tropical fruits and juices available.

Looking forward to visiting again.

What a wonderful place to finish our journey in Uganda and to take some time to relax and disconnect from the world! The island is beautiful and the way from the mainland is wonderful as you travel in a canoe through Lake Bunyonyi! 😌 the room was tidy and clean with a beautiful view from the balcony. Unfortunately they had issues with the generator and there was no hot water in the evening, but it was a small thing compared to everything else (and considering it is in an island!)

Having parked our car in the guarded compound the boat took us to the island. Geofred and Hillary helped us with everything and Hillary's cooking is amazing. The best part of our stay was our lakeside hut, looking out over the tranquil water of Lake Bunyoni and a weaver bird just outside our balcony.
Just a great place to unwind, swim and birdwatch. Highly recommended

This place was an absolute balm to the soul after three days of hiking on Vulcan Bisoke , Golden Monkeys & Gorilla trekking. The pleasant climate and refreshing lake in which you can swim relieved tired feet. Very simple and clean African style bungalows overlooking the lake, friendly stuff, tasty food and canoe rides. The owner is the nicest lady with whom it was a pleasure to talk.

It was our third visit to Itambara. The location is as beautiful as ever but there seems to be a complacency in the air. Everything is OK but there doesn't seem to be any desire to improve or increase the facilities. The old dugout canoes are still there. Seeds of hope could invest in a couple of kayaks or even a sailing dinghy.
These are only minor grumbles. It is still well worth a couple days getaway from normal life. Still excellent value for money

Amazing lodge which can only be accessed by boat. The views over the lake was spectacular and we got an amazing treehouse right on the water front. There are lots of activities like hiking and kayaking. The staff are all very helpful. Would recommend any traveller to come here

I booked for two nights and stayed for a third night because the place is so comfortable and enjoyable. The staff is friendly and very helpful, the food is very good, and the place is so quite and peaceful. I had a cabin with a hot water shower and a very comfortable bed at a really good price. I can highly recommend Seeds of Hope!

Hello, to get to the island, the management has a motor boat to ship you from the mainland. All you have to do is contact them on the contact provided and they will arrange. This is all part of the package. its a 10-15 minutes ride on water to get there.
