we were three people who visited and were quite impressed with how generous the owners were. It truly gives a homely feel and the food is simple yet scrumptious. Highly recommended if you want to get away from all the noise of city life!
This off the beaten path gem was one of the highlights of our time in Uganda. We did it on local transport which makes for an adventure - boda boda around the lake. The promontory location makes it very private and all cabins have great views west over Lake Bunyoni. The swimming is fabulous and there are also great walks up the mountain behind for great views down the entire length of the lake. Owner Wilfred and wife Irene, together with their lovely staff, will ensure that your stay is as relaxing as possible. Food was excellent, alternating a vegetarian day with a meat day. Hot water heated with Eucalyptus wood and solar power work well. The birdlife is abundant and the bats provide a dramatic show in the evening. Thank you all, a great three day stay.
Great place with very nice views. Owners very friendly and nice people. Was a pity we couldn't stay more time (we need it more days to enjoy it). It is near a school. Very good breakfast with home made iogurt
The staff of Irene and Wilfrey were fabulous and friendly. Had great bonfire and barbecue with other guests in the evening which was really fabulous experience. Profits go to support a school and sustainable farming set up by owners. Unfortunately, the place is fairly run down and could do with a bit of TLC e.g. the swimming jetty is damaged, some rooms leak, the barbecue area is untidy. Also there are no lights or toilets in the rooms which could have been made more obvious in the room descriptions online. They give you a solar lamp for the evening. Food is also quite expensive ($35 full board) and although big portions it is quite bland and all the bread was completely stale. A little effort could turn this place from a pleasant but uncomfortable experience into something really world-class.…
Simple room with large balcony with an amazing view over the lake. Quiet, only the birds. A fire place with seats on the lake front. A jetty if you wish a swim. Breakfast and dinner are delicious, with many vegetables and fruits grown in the garden. Wilfried is extremely welcoming, sharing meals with the guests. The staff is discreet and supportive. The surroundings are so quiet. No traffic on the road allowing pleasant hikes with panoramic views over le lake. We stayed five nights, and it was difficult to make up our minds to leave.
Thank you Wilfried and staff for two amazing hospitable overnights! Since it's an eco accommodation not all of the lodges have electricity (yet) - which makes it special we found. However the places are comfortable and clean. Also the bathroom facilities add to that, eco-toilet and outdoor shower with hot water on request. Its quite a drive to/from Kabale and there are no shops close by which is why its recommended to join breakfast and other meals at the lodge. A few choices are offered for breakfast; lunch and dinner are set; We very much enjoyed the homey atmosphere. Beautiful views of Lake Bunyonyi from the lodge and surrounding area. Possibility of different walks/hikes in the area, canoeing, visiting the school next door which is one of the local projects of the lodge's owner. Secluded escape - highly recommended! We'd love to come again for another visit!…
There are many tourists lodges for all sort of budget by the lake, but if you want a peaceful, beautifully located one, with the warm atmosphere and last, but not least reasonably priced than Amasiko is exactly what you need. The owner, Wilfrid is laid back and very accommodating, he will make sure you feel comfortable there. As a Dutch expat, who spent a good few decades in Africa, he is also very knowledgeable and always ready to give you some good advice. The meals there are delicious, home-made affairs and there are always eaten together in the friendly and jolly atmosphere. As there are always some volunteers helping on the site, you will have a chance to meet very interesting people. It should be mentioned that Amasiko is non-profit organization and runs the green school, which is nearby. As to the accommodation itself, all the cottages are very close to the lake and are facing the lake. I have stayed in the giraffe, beautiful wooden cottage with the stunning view of the lake. But there are more to choose from, so it’s best to visit Amasiko own website, where you can see the photos of all of them. I would strongly recommend staying there while visiting lake Bunyonyi area, you will leave the place with some very pleasant memories. I also left it without my camera charger and guess what… Wilfried kindly offered to bring it to Kisoro, where I stayed later (around couple of hours drive). What about that??? How many lodge’s owners would make such an effort? Thank you Wilfried (and all the rest) for being so kind and helpful !!!…
Great eco-friendly lodge in a beautiful place! Very friendly owner who’s (trying) to make a difference and give something back to the local people by educating them and offer them help/work. Food is grown and made at their own farm and kitchen. It is really a place to relax, wish we would stayed their longer than just one night to enjoy the lake and its view.
Extreme beautiful location with views on the unspoiled side of Lake Bunyonyi. The road to Amasiko goes through mountains with stunning views. For us it was quite adventurous as it had rained a lot that day but we heard this was quite exceptional. Showers with warm water (!!) and a good restaurant with local and dutch food make it a good place to stay. We also visited the primary school which is next to the lodge and campsite. We got a very warm welcome from the children! Great!
Every day started with a beautifull view at lake bunyonyi. Our cottage "Zebra" had a balcony with nice comfortable sitting area, the view from there at the lake was amazing. Amasiko is really calm place where you can rest and relax. The people at the resort are friendly and helpfull. we enjoyed the food verry much, it was delicious. We enjoyed our staying verry much, it was worth it.
