Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you want a place to chill ,relax and meet wonderful staff and owners this is the place to stay. The views are amazing, food great, pizzas simply the best and really filling. Our room over looked the loch and what ever time of day a different view was seen. The room was spotless, bed extremely comfortable with fantastic bedding. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and all staff were friendly and very welcoming and I believe when we return we will be rembered! Wonderful memories of our first stay in Scotland we will be back.

I went after seeing the hotel featured on TV in the reality show FOUR IN A BED last year. I knew the area, but not the hotel. It was a deal on a website, and definitely lived up to our expectations. We were very lucky with the weather for this time of year, snow on the hills making the scenery beautiful, but the roads were driveable. Our room was lovely, they all had different clan surnames, ours was MacDougall. My friend and I went as a late 60th birthday present to myself, and as a treat for my friend who has been ill for a year and more, and is just coming out the other side of some nasty medical operations now. The staff were super helpful in providing meals which she could eat that were not on the menu. The chef actually came to speak to her to discuss her preferences/requirements. The dining area has superb views across the Loch. Loch Awe. All the staff were super friendly, from Carter who greeted us warmly on arrival at reception, to Liam, Catherine?Christine?, Alan who served us in bar and restaurant. We had days out to Oban to the cinema, and shopping for Harris Tweed handbags, also a nice day in Inveraray with lunch at the George hotel. The Inveraray Jail is worth a visit, but we didnt, this time. There were Highland Cattle close to the road, nearby, and some gorgeous feral cats near the hotel. I would definitely stay again, or even drop by in high season for dinner, when I next stay in the area.

The hotel location might be a little remote but it makes up for this with fantastic views along the loch and mountains. The hotel still retains much of it character and the food is excellent. Thanks to the very friendly staff who made our stay great.

We stayed for 4 nights and what a lovely time we had. We stayed in a loch side apartment the view was phenomenal we woke to the loch view every morning 💖 the continental breakfast was good with lots of choices and the staff where extremely attentive without being overbearing. We dined most evenings in the restaurant although the main courses there was only a small selection they were delicious 😋 and spent our evenings playing board games in the lounge. We would definitely recommend staying here and will definitely be back 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Just recently returned from a 4 night trip to portsonachan, we stayed in the apartment lubnaig which was spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The bathroom had obviously been refurbished and was done to a high standard. The area is magnificent, so many delightful views to take in and special places to visit. Portsonachan was the perfect base. We visited Glen Coe whilst there and took the chair lift up where the children got to take part in sledging- what a wonderful core memory for them! We played games in the lounge of an evening whilst enjoying some drinks and we all loved the food on offer, something for everyone and delicious. The friendly atmosphere within the hotel itself didn't fo unnoticed, staff take the time to talk to you and give recommendations. All in all we loved our stay and will definitely book again when we come back to do a boat trip to see the whales.

This was a 3 day break for my 60th which ended in a shambles first when we got there knowing we had booked a lock side room for us and 2 dogs which they new ,my wife had gone in and was told they had moved us because of the dogs they didn’t say it was a upgrade (when my wife went down the next morning to see the manager wasn’t there and they couldn’t get hold of her which is a laugh because my wife so her walk past then walk the opposite way get in car and drive off so that tell me that she didn’t want to talk to my wife …… also the person who came out to see her said it was definitely not a up grade )we went to look at the accommodation and it was disgusting which I’ve posted pictures.so we went back down to see the manager she came out after a time and made out that they had moved us because of the dogs then it was the flooding and then the roof had fallen she was very arrogant and said do you want a full refund I said so you expect us to get back into the car and drive 4half hours home she wasn’t bothered we said so you have broke your contract you didn’t let us know which they new about days before so didn’t contact us about anything ….. the owners and management are aragant nothing is there fault they always blame others and not themselves so I said we would stop the night and decide what to do next day ,they ha broke the contract so we decided to go home and could we find anyone in charge to sort this out no the don’t take responsibility for anything and it’s alway someone else’s fault Main pointers .the views are great and after that I would recommend not staying here it not clean if anything goes wrong it’s your fault and not there’s the food they served us was disgusting I had one mouthful and left the lot .they said they would deliver breakfast didn’t happen I could go on and on but the place is a joke it’s not very well run .there are a lot more photos but you get the just off these .
