We arrived home on Monday the 16th April and we had a great time here feeling very relaxed. The Staff were very good the surroundings and views are breathtaking and the Hotel was very good. Yes the Hotel does need some attention but this is what you expect from a very old Hotel but in NO way was it inhabitable...

We ae just back from a two night stay at Portsonachan and we would have loved to stay longer. A fantastic location with stunning views of the Loch. We were looked after from the minute we arrived with a friendly welcome, the management were very focused, dedicated and keen to help in any way to make sure we had an...

Have stayed at this hotel a few times, so we knew what to expect, its in a beautiful location, but the main hotel needs a bit of work, however i would recommend this hotel for a night or two stay, and would highly recommend the lochside self catering apartments, they are well kept and have stunning views and you have...

This was our 3rd visit to the Portsonachan Hotel and yet again we had a very enjoyable stay. We can agree that the Hotel is in need of a bit of TLC but there was a sign up to say that there was wet paint in the Conservatory Entrance so you have to start somewhere. We found the staff very...

After staying for 3 nights here I can honestly say that there is no way I would consider going back! On arrival the staff were very friendly. On entry to our room it looked clean(ish) and tidy. The bathroom is rather dated and shoddy, Lino lifted all round, tiles discoloured, tap falls off and shower holder half hanging. Initially we...

Okay, this is a difficult review given the plethora of competing and complicating factors to accommodate and a remarkable division of opinion amongst recent guests which threatens to make it difficult for the reader to accurately dissect the nature of the goings on at this hotel. First, let me dispel at least one of those mysteries because those wildly differing...

We stayed at the Portsonachan over the Easter Holidays (6th April 2012). We were given McNeill room which is very small, but as we were only using this as a base we thought OK, but!!! the kettle plug did not reach the socket so the kettle had to be put on the floor to boil. Second day there nO HOT...

I booked up for a four night break after having been here a few years ago and this would have been my third time visiting the Portsonachan hotel. After paying the full amount over the phone I never received any conformation letters, emails just a verbal conformation. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! At the time of our 350 journey from Staffordshire I was...

We booked a deal 18 months earlier and the price was very competitive and we were a group of long standing friends so that was the main plus. As a base for the Argyll countryside it has a spectacular location but is somewhat isolated. For those looking for peace and tranquility that is in its favour but it may not...

Booked via Groupon then read the reviews with a sinking feeling. Surprise! We had a great time, warm welcome, lovely big room with 2 bay windows overlooking the loch, very comfortable bed with nice linen, clean bathroom with fluffy towels although maybe it would benefit from an electric shower being installed, tea and coffee facilities in room well stocked. Yes...
