Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

The best B&B we have stayed in, wonderfully spacious rooms and comfortable beds, perfect location and wonderful views, very peaceful too, topped with a warm welcome and very delicious breakfast. It was the perfect pit stop on our way back from Scotland and we will absolutely be back. Leonie and Ian.

What can I say! What’s not to like. We had a wonderful 2 nights stay. Ann’s welcoming smile set us off on a great trip. Crisp white linens and towels. Breakfast to die for. The best one in Northumberland. Ann and her staff couldn’t have been more friendly. Great nights sleep in The Tower Room in the main house.

Room Tip: La Mensa not the best tbh. Didn’t try any other local eateries.

We had a wonderful stay at Tosson Tower. It is such a peaceful location with fabulous views across the valley. Comfy beds, wonderful toiletries, great shower and lovely tea tray with fresh milk and homemade chocolate brownies. The breakfast was superb too. Thanks so much and we hope to be back soon.

We recently enjoyed five nights in this wonderful location. The farmhouse itself is full of character, spacious, warm and comfortable. The view complementing the extensive breakfast is to die for! Our room (Bracken) was high-ceilinged, comfortable and with excellent central heating; the modern, ensuite bathroom had both a shower cubicle (electric) and a bath (a shower over the bath would have been a useful addition). Ann was an attentive and gracious host, and plied us with brownies and fresh milk several times during our stay, as well as providing lots of local information. This was our second stay and we would certainly return.

Stayed for a couple of nights on a trip around the U.K. a delightful setting which has had much attention put into it. We did have noisy people in the room next to us which really spoilt the ambiance of the place, there seems to be little on no soundproofing of the rooms. Even at 3am the other people seemed not to care about their noise. The bathroom is large but lacks a shaver socket for men and the actual bath needs resealing when filled with water. Breakfast was good but on the second day when we requested Orange juice at the same time as asking for coffee it was not forthcoming. These little things do spoil one’s stay.

Unfortunately, we could only stay for two nights, but that was long enough to realise that there can’t be many (if any) better B&Bs around here. All furnishings, soaps, lotions, etc are top quality and Ann’s breakfasts – plus cakes - will live long in our memory. The only problem was deciding what to eat. Walks in and around the local area offer hours of relaxation with much more being available if you’re willing to drive a short distance, including The Three Wheat Heads pub and La Mensa restaurant – both offering excellent food. Looking forward to a future visit.

Although we only stayed two nights, we could happily have stayed for a week. Ann was very welcoming and, although our booked room was the Tower Room with use of the lounge across the Courtyard, she moved us across to that building as no-one else was booked in there. So we had a stunning bedroom with walk in wardrobe + fridge & refreshment facilities, a large en suite and sole use of the lounge [which is the area on the photo with the three arches] We couldn't have been more comfortable and there was everything we needed, including fresh milk and delicious brownies to welcome us. The decor was really lovely with some attractive personal touches which we appreciated. Breakfast across at the farmhouse was excellent with a wide choice of food and a wonderful view across the fields where the sheep and lambs were also getting breakfast! There was a pleasant, gentle walk to the front of the farmhouse which led uphill and was obviously popular with serious walkers who took a more strenuous detour to the peak of a nearby hill. Rothbury was but a short drive away and we enjoyed an incredible carvery at the The Three Wheat Heads in the nearby village of Thropton. We were so pleased that we found this venue and sad that we weren't staying longer, but I do hope that we'll return next time we drive down from Aberdeenshire. Thank you, Ann and team for all your efforts.

From arrival to departure, Tosson Farm was an absolute joy. We were welcomed by the owner who was really pleasant and showed us round this beautiful place, he showed us to our room which was lovely, then the shared Lounge area and Breakfast room, then leaving us to relax and settle in, assuring us that if we needed anything we only had to ask. The views from our room were breathtaking, views of the Cheviot Hills in the distance (which were capped with snow on the day of our departure) and scenes of the Coquet Valley were Postcard perfect. The Farmhouse Breakfasts were superb, so much choice and beautifully cooked as fresh as could be, even with ‘Specials’ in addition to the daily menu ! Our visit sadly was short but I’m pretty sure we’ll be back. We haven’t been to Northumberland for probably 30yrs (shamefully) but our experience was lovely and one we hope to repeat soon. Thank you for your hospitality.

We stayed in the farmhouse for three nights, our first time of staying in this stunning part of Northumberland. Ann and Lindsay were excellent hosts. Breakfast was delicious and there were ample refreshments in the bedroom plus fresh milk in a fridge on the landing. Our bathroom was large and well stocked with complimentary toiletries. The standard practice is for the room not to be serviced during your stay unless you request otherwise; although we had never encountered this before, it was actually most welcome given the current Covid situation and we really appreciated the feeling of having our own personal space for the duration. The views from the breakfast room are superb and the setting is very tranquil. It is a five minute drive into Rothbury. Ann has helpfully compiled a list of recommended local eating places but please be aware that most need to be booked in advance. We could not find any fire evacuation details in the room; neither on the door nor in the guest information folder. Whilst we hope this would never be needed, it is something that we feel is essential. Perhaps this has been an oversight after redecoration.
