We booked a weekend away we were not expecting to find such a lovely little hotel. The room was excellent clean and uncluttered with a brilliant bathroom. The restaurant was great food was some of the best that we have had and fairly reasonable. Would recommend The Queens Head to anyone visiting Rothbury.

A warm welcome on a cold wet winter day awaited us, we were shown our room straight away it was clean and comfortable. We booked a table for dinner and were surprised at the number of choices and the menu contents. I chose the Sea Bass which was off the menu but I was offered Hake instead which was delicious,...

Food wasn't great and if you do go for the Sunday lunch just get the half for £5.50 as there is no discernible difference between the amount meat given - we both got 3 slices but I had a half and my partner bought a full for £8.75.

We did over 70 lunches yesterday and as usual, no one complained. I just wish you had said something at the time when we could have done something about it. I have messaged this couple about their review, I suspect they both got a full portion in error.

Boring, residential care home food. Couldn't even be bothered to cook roast potatoes and appeared to be reheating last nights chip style potatoes. £8.75 for full lunch or £5.50 for half - full meant ONE extra slice of meat - therefore was £3.25 for part slice of pork ! Stuffing like wallpaper paste. Need upholstery redone on dining room chairs...

Hello, I am so sorry you were disappointed yesterday, as I have lunch every Sunday after service I agree that yesterday the roast potatoes were slightly underdone, not up to the usual standards and the stuffing likewise was under cooked. The size of the joints we use determine the size of the "slice" of meat, and the joints are enormous,...

As always, although only a one night stay, enjoyed our time here again. Staff very pleasant, good meal in the restaurant and a cracking breakfast to send us on our way. Room, very clean and warm, with all the bits and bobs you expect. The hotel is in a great location and if like us you like a good walk,...

Having spent my early years in Northumberland, we looked for a short break to spend a nostalgic couple of days and alighted on The Queens Head. Having read some reviews we were a little apprehensive about booking, but all the doubts we had were quickly dispelled on our arrival. Yes, it is an older hotel, and yes it is in...
