Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of the best views in Scotland ( that's a big claim! ) from your own front room, your own private terrace, a kitchen with all the kit you need, big sofas and armchairs, a comfy bed - and all of it pristine clean. I just want to move in! Also, the hosts were wonderfully helpful when one of us suffered an injury.

Seeing an otter on the bank just 50m away was one of the week's high spots.

We stayed in Strumhor as the last stop on a pan-Scotland driving vacation. By far and away it was not only our favorite place in Scotland but continues to be the best B&B we've ever stayed at.
Olga and her husband were endlessly helpful without being pushy and provided immumerable helpful suggestions. The inn itself is very cute with a wonderful bay sunroom overlooking the "falls of Lora" a phenomenon of the tides that creates rapids.

We were greated with tea upon arrival and were able to walk to a lovely dinner. Getting into Oban itself is easier drivving because of the terrrain, but is a very short little hop. The accomidations were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was lovely! After a week of "scottish breakfast" the yoghurt and granola with real coffee were a welcome change. Our only regret was that we had only two nights to stay, and we cannot wait to return.

We spent 2 nights at Strumhor, and honestly, we were a bit disappointed, all the more since the reviews on Tripadvisor are very positive. We had the Morvern room, and it clearly needs renovation : the paint is flaking and the furniture is quite old. Another problem is that the room directly communicate with the lobby, which means you'll hear people taking their breakfast early, leaving the house and leaving with their car as the room is looking over the parking. Final point : when we arrived, the toilets had not been cleaned, it took us 2 minutes to do so, we think it is just an exceptional oversight. Breakfast is average. Location is average too, you'll need your car to go to Oban, where you'll find the best restaurants. Compared to other BnBs we visited, and considering the price, we would definitely choose another place, even is Olga is a nice person.

I am shocked and disappointed by this review and do apologise for the non-cleaning of the toilet. The little bit of bubbling on one wall is due to a new damp proof course being put in mid-season when we have been unable to repaint the room due to constant flow of guests. It will be dealt with as soon as the season is over. I am sorry for this but it is beyond our control. As is the location - some people like to be out of Oban so this is down to personal taste and our website states quite clearly that we are in the village of Connel. The furniture was new last year and quite expensive! - I can only think that this was not to your taste. But what upset me most is the comment about breakfast being average. I am always keen to improve so perhaps you would message me privately about what more we could offer. There is a full buffet as well as a large selection of cooked offerings. I apologise too for the noise in the hall - if you have any idea what I could do about this, I'd be happy to hear them. It only happens when you choose the latest possible breakfast and the other couple have the earliest one as happened in this case. I have changed the times to make this less likely to happen but in your case it didn't work. I am so sorry. I wish you had told me your concerns at the time and while I can't do anything about some of them I could have got you whatever you wanted for your second breakfast.

We were looked after very well by Olga who was very friendly and helpful. Our room Lorn was great with plenty of room, comfortable bed and a separate sitting area. Would highly recommend if you are going to pass through this area.

Glad to hear you had a good stay. It was good to meet you. Just to let potential guests know: we are closing the B&B at the end of October ad opening instead as a self-catering holiday apartment in April 2018. All welcome!

This is an outstanding place to stay for a visit to this fascinating part of Scotland. The hosts, Olga and Tony, are very friendly and obliging and offer much of the ground floor of their beautiful house for the use of guests: two comfortable and well-appointed guest bedrooms, a lovely conservatory overlooking the Falls of Lorn, a very comfortable lounge and separate dining room. There is plenty of information about the local area as well as an extensive and comprehensive library. The breakfasts are beautifully cooked to order, with a different and delicious 'special' each day, such as Eggs Benedict or Smoked Salmon Soufflé.

We stayed one night when in the area for a family christening. Lovely welcome, homely but fresh, clean, and uncluttered. Tea and home baking in front of the wood burner on arrival was unexpected but a lovely welcome to the B&B. Beds comfy, rooms fantastic. Breakfast first class. Will be staying here again when we visit family. Thanks to Olga and Tony for a wonderful stay!

My wife and I tried to get in to the Ronebhal guest house in Connel but unfortunately they were closed. However they were kind enough to recommend Strumhor and oh boy, what a find. Olga was very welcoming with tea and gorgeous lemon drizzle cake after a very arduous journey. The view from the front room is worth the fee alone. The choice for breakfast is excellent especially the porridge drowned in whisky!
