Robert's camp is so amazing!!I had a great time with my friends. Would recommend it to anyone who wants to get out of town and relax on the lake side as you watch the hippos and crocs and different bird species.

I visited the camp with 3 friends and we stayed in the two small tents. Best part of the stay was uninhibited closeness to the lake. We saw crocodiles within less than 5-8 feet on the shore. At night time, hippos were grazing next to our tent. It really provided a very wild experience of the lake ecosystem compared to Naivasha which is a lot more touristy. Tents were quite comfortable with thick mattresses and pillows (it's not very hardcore camping, to be honest). Food and drinks at the restaurant were decent. Although, there isn't much else to do in the camp or the town, except to enjoy the surroundings. Will not recommend to people looking for a very active stay. But recommended for a relaxed and off-the-beaten track experience.

We stayed in the cottage in Roberts Camp in October, it had three double rooms, was clean, comfortable and good value for money, The camp was a lovely change from hotels and Lodges, the cottage had a big verandah for relaxing and enjoying the peaceful surroundings, staff were friendly and helpful, menu wasn’t big but food was tasty and plentiful and the bar was a sociable area to chat to other travelers, also we got to wash our clothes, drying lines available, A nature walk is available which took two hours and was very informative, also a boat trip on the lake in the early morning...superb bird watching and for both trips Louis was an excellent guide, Overall a good budget option...the cottage is best of both worlds, camping feel with a roof over your head! Tents and Bandas looked tight on space, can also bring own tent

Baringo, like Turkana, is dying on its feet. Once a buzzing tourist attraction, now (thanks to rising Lake water due to deforestation) it boasts a shanty town with a couple of solar powered street lights and half the older colonial buildings semi-submerged in the lake.
Roberts Camp is a 500m walk from the town so you will not smell the local catfish being smoked, dried or fried although it is a great little excursion to fill up your time.
The camp itself is great as a campsite: secure, clean showers (cold) and lavatories with occasional visits from hippos and small Nile crocs which the locals say are harmless to humans.....
We stayed in a very basic cottage which thoughtfully and thankfully had a fan.
Food choice at the bar was limited but ample and service okay: all in all a bit like Baringo itself: tired.
Certainly the best place to stay if you're not on the muzungu resorts on the islands. Cheap-ish, too.

Thank you for getting back with this open view. Literally the nature has claimed a bigger portion of the land which used to be accessible. The vegetation normally contributes much and unfortunately much has been claimed leaving everything dull. Otherwise, we Roberts Camp still believe we can better what is left and for sure bring back the lost glory of Lake Baringo.

Safari tents or bandas in a good spot by the lake. Excellent for bird viewing, also Hippo and Crocodiles at Lake edge. The tents and bandas all have mains electricity and fans. Bandas have own bathroom. Tents have just bed and fan and shared outside bathroom and toilet facilities. No hot water available in any accomodation. On site restaurant/bar called the thirsty goat. Limited menu. You can also take your own tent and camp in the grounds. We paid 10,00/- for 2 nights in weaver Banda. Ideal for two people. Beware of Hippo grazing at night.

Dear Uirapurur,
I t depends with the type of transport you are intending to use.
Public transport as a means: Get a bus or a matatu from Nairobi to Nakuru, connect another matatu to Marigat and finally Marigat to Lake Baringo.
Otherwise, while in Nairobi find Mololine matatu which operates Nairobi to Marigat then Marigat to Lake Baringo.
You can as well have a privately hired taxi from Nairobi to Lake Baringo. They normally charge KES 15000 to KES 14000.
Thanks
James
