Needing a cheap place to stay in the area, booked into Cellb in Blaenau Ffestiniog, just off the high street as it fitted the bill at £20 per person per night. Its a nice warm well decorated hostel with lots of free parking behind. Nia e-mailed instructions on how to find the key early in the day - though could do with some lighting behind the hostel. Room was small, but only designed for 3 beds and i had it to myself being out of season in November. Beds, chair and a table. Kitchen area was sufficient, but given the takeaway in town, i only used it briefly. Clean & tidy toilets. Only issue was the noise from the bar above on the Friday night, with people in the room above and walking up / down the stairs whilst drunk - really could do with better sound proofing as i couldn't get to sleep till after the bar closed. Given that its all CellB, you'd of thought it would have been sorted. Apart from the sleepless night, a nice little hostel, with friendly staff and fellow guests.

Response from Niablaenau, Manager at Hostel Cellb

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry to hear you had a sleepless night. I will investigate to see if there was a busier than usual event upstairs during your stay. There are 3 businesses entities at Cellb - the hostel, the bar and the cinema and we work closely together. This is the first complaint that we have had about the noise upstairs - I will assess the soundproofing and investigate to see if it can be improved.

Great value for money in a quiet part of the town but close to Main Street. Hostel is warm and dry - phenomenal value too. Nia sent a nice note by email to welcome us and make sure we know the arrival details. Cellb did the job well on a very wet Thursday night.

I stayed here for 3 days with my 8 year old son as we were doing the cave tours in the local area and visiting the slate mines. The bedrooms are comfy and cosy and the communal kitchen has good facilities. There is a pub just around the corner that serves great food and a takeaway kebab shop down the road that does good pizzas and burgers. It's in a great central location and has a lounge space to use upstairs which is great to chill out and relax after a long day of walking! my son loved stretching out up here and playing while I had a snooze on the sofa! It's a shame we could not fit in the cinema while we were there and the cafe and bar was closed but we look forward to coming back another time to visit. Many thanks for a great stay.

There are so many great local walks and exciting activities (famous zip wire if that's your thing) The family running this hotel were welcoming and very helpful. The onsite cinema, restaurant, relaxing lounge and bar areas are available if staying at the hostel and staff also friendly. We thought this was a special place -hostel style rooms -

What can I say? I was visiting Blaenau Ffestiniog, to visit friends, whom live within the town/local area. We came across, Hostel CellB, whilst looking for places to stay, within the local area, and CellB it was. A Small and Unique Hostel, it remains completely independent from the Hostels, that the YHA run, instead CellB is set in an old police station, and the rooms are small, but very comfortable and perfect as a base for exploring the local area, the Hostel forms part of CellB, which is also a Cinema, Bar and Venue, for the wider Community of Blaenau. Did this matter to us? No. The views are truly stunning, rooms clean and toilet/shower facilities are spotless. From arriving in Blaenau at Hostel CellB, we were made to feel very welcome, and this place has a certain charm, that the more touristy places in Snowdonia certainly do not have. If you are planning on staying in Snowdonia, try Blaenau Ffestiniog, you will be surprised.

I absolutely loved staying here, the landlady is so accommodating and kind. We arrived after a very muddy festival number 6 and she washed my clothes for me and just generally took very good care of us. The setting is surrounded by towering mountains in a quaint little town with some interesting shops and cafes. I highly recommend!

I will be honest, ive never stayed in a hostel, but we were doing the zip wire at 6.40am and after a 4 hour journey we thought it would literally just be somewhere to.sleep. i imagined a musty damp building,.gloomy and full of weirdos. (Sorry im naive i know!) But omg how wrong was i!! We were welcomed by an extremely friendly and helpful chap (apologies didnt get name) he gave us a thorough tour including the cinema (all new films!) And even the cells as its a converted police station! It was very clean and had a lovely little kitchen. I was amazed by the top floor! Beautiful restaurant and bar. We walked through town and found a fab indian and ended up staying up way.too late as we didnt want to go to sleep! Our room had 2 triple bunks as there was 5 of us and we had another person staying in our room so even made a new friend. Thank u to all who made us feel so.welcome Wonderful place!!
