My partner and i wanted a last minute getaway with our puppy back in August and found this place perfect.... The cottage was clean and tidy and had everything you would need particularly in the kitchen - It was also so nice to have a little welcome pack when we arrived. There is plenty of nice walks on and around the farm as well as the cottage being a great location if you want to go further afield
Lovely tidy cottage love the brick work and old beams. Nice welcome package which was not expected, nice little steam near most of the cottages never tried the games room as was closed due to Covid restrictions . great walks near by, we visited Low /High Force, Hamsterley Forest & a great walk over the road from the cottage which take you into Wolsingham. would go back again
We have just spent a week in Owl Cottage - a comfortable, well equipped property in a lovely location with the added bonus of a farm cafe! In the middle of a pandemic, a self catering, staycation in a rural area seemed a good idea, and we could not have chosen a better venue. On arrival we had a welcome cuppa with toasted crumpets in the farm cafe and on departure treated ourselves to the magnificent full breakfast. Super quality food with the joy of 'real' toast. Thick slices of freshly cut bread perfectly toasted and warm! Even first class hotels let themselves down serving toasted cheap sliced bread long before the breakfast arrives. The service was friendly and all precautions had been taken - face masks, well spaced tables and plenty of hand cleaning facilities. Well done Bradley Burn!! Add to this very reasonable prices for the food and the cottage itself and we couldn't have chosen better.…
Would highly recommend. Had a fantastic short break with my family and we enjoyed it immensely. The cottage is very comfortable with everything you need and staff always extremely kind and helpful. We have two teenagers who loved the well equipped games room and also the farm tracks..great for mountain biking, hiking etc. A great choice. Will definitely be back.
A lovely little cottage for two, set behind a large farm house, not visible from the road. There was a welcome dish of scones and jam left on the table to greet us. The cottage had been left in a state remindful of a hotel, with soaps and shower caps in the bathroom and towels neatly folded on the bed. The site itself has a shop that is little more than a café. There's a large residential caravan park further along the track. There's also a touring caravan site along side the shop. There's a nature trail that starts a little way from the shop, unfortunately we didn't take this so can't comment on it. Good points; we stayed in Otter Cottage, one of three there. It's ideal for two, with a comfortable double bed, a well equipped kitchen and a living room with tv and a lot of games and books for those rainy days. There's also a communial games room and washing machine and dryer located across the courtyard. Bad points; we are both in our seventies and found the bath/shower impossible to use because of the perspex shower screen glued to the bath. There was no way to enter it. Anyone with a child would not be able to control the bath taps or the shower controls from outside of the bath. The only other niggle was in the bedroom. The water heater for the cottages is located in the recycling shed, on the wall adjoining Otter Cottage. First thing in the morning, when the demand for hot water is highest, the pipes knock loudly. The first morning I thought the builder's were in, drilling the bedroom wall! That being said, we had a good week in Otter Cottage and would probably return in the future.…
I stayed in Here cottage for 6 nights in September...Just me and my dog. The cottage was just perfect and the location was lovely, right by the stream and in a little courtyard. The cottage was clean and the shower was always hot; I was sad to leave. Durham was an easy day trip out and Hexham/Hadrians Wall about an hour away. I would definitely recommend
This was quite a difficult one for me to rate. The cottage itself was clean and plenty big enough for two of us and our small dog. It’s set in a little courtyard with two other larger cottages and a games room with table tennis, pool and ice hockey tables. Great if you have teenagers or you fancy a game yourself. The kitchen had everything you would need including a small dishwasher, a good sized fridge freezer and microwave. When we arrived there were a selection of scones, jam and butter which was a lovely touch. If you take a dog with you there is a large field with a wide pathway round for exercising your dog. There are dog bins at all exits which is perfect and our dog loved the walk...takes about 20 mins. The bathroom was spacious and the shower really good...nice and powerful and plenty hot enough. There is a hairdryer provided and a good sized wardrobe with hangers. So why have I only given it three stars....well the bed was really uncomfortable. The mattress was very soft and lumpy and needed replacing. The pillows were also poor quality. We also really struggled with the sofa. It’s very low down and very soft. Now if you are young enough and fit enough for this not to bother you then the cottage deserves four stars but for us it made the stay uncomfortable. I absolutely accept that an owner cannot meet everyone’s needs so that’s why I find this one difficult to rate. If you are a mature couple or have any back problems then I wouldn’t recommend you stay here. We came home a night early as we both needed a good nights sleep. So in conclusion it’s a clean well equipped cottage in a nice setting but for us not very comfortable.…
We stayed in Harvest cottage (renamed Heron). Due to our dog being poorly we arrived a day late, staff were very nice and accomodating when we rang to say we would be a day late. Cottage was lovely, had everything you needed, Th scones, jam and butter were a god send upon arrival. Plenty of walks for our dog. Will definitely book/stay again
We stayed in the granary cottage with Amazing views a beautiful spacious cottage, oak beams & very nice furniture, spacious bathroom & well equipped kitchen, everything pristine clean, we booked for breakfast at their farm shop/ cafe next morning & had lovely home cooked breakfast and all fresh produce, staff were lovely & couldn’t do enough for us. village of Woolsingham is a lovely place too, quaint little pubs & a lovely Italian Restaraunt, wil definately return beautiful place
A excellent, well equipped, very comfortable, beautiful cottage with a very cosy feel. A group of us stayed in the Granary cottage which had such comfy beds that it was hard to pull yourself out of on a morning but we’d booked to go into the farm shop for breakfast, which was delicious, all local produce. The shop itself was a little treasure of lovely treats for everyone. Didn’t matter where you looked, the scenery was beautiful. Can’t praise this place enough. Would love to go back in a heartbeat ❤️
