Started our tour of the Outer Hebrides with 2 nights in Barra and stayed at Barbara and Martin's guest house. What a great place they have. Barbara and Martin were superb hosts. The guest house and our rooms were spotless and breakfast was great. Our room had a view across the bay, with ensuite facilities. We had to leave early to catch a ferry and Martin was kind enough to prepare a breakfast for us to take away. Nice gesture and much appreciated. Would definitely stay here again. Mark and Helen

Had a wonderful stay at Bayview. Very friendly hosts who went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and even helped make our plans whilst on a short trip to Barra. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable with great en-suites. They phoned and booked dinner reservations for us and the breakfast served was amazing. They even prepared a packed Breakfast for our last day due to an early morning ferry. Can’t wait to return to Barra at some point and will definitely be staying here again.

we stayed in the captains quarters next to the main residence. It is bijou but was very nice with a comfortable bed. Nice touches in our room with a great view. Breakfast was filling and cooked to perfection. Beaches on Vatarsay are a highlight.

We arrived in Barra on 19 July only 4 days after hotels and accommodation reopened in Scotland. The welcome from Barbara and Marty was amazing and they honestly are an amazing family who go out of their way to make their home feel like your home! We were out in the wee cabin just outside the guesthouse and it was devine, the little touches made me so happy! Barbara is originally from Barra and her love of the island is infectious, I swear if we hadn’t booked to go onto Uist I’d have stayed, it was my happy place for our two days there, sitting outside the cabin at night overlooking the water in the perfect peace and quiet was bliss. Thank you Barbara and Marty, we’ll definitely be back when everything is back to normal (I need to fly into Barra airport on the sand and try the Kisimuil Cafe!) but most of all I’ll look forward to visiting you guys again 🥰🥰🥰

Every now and again you find a place that ticks all the boxes - this is one! The welcome is friendly and you immediately feel that you are a valued person, one of the family. There's a lovely "house rule": no shoes indoors! Guest slippers are provided. The bedroom was roomy and very comfortable, with a spacious en-suite shower/WC. A combination of roller blind and thick tweed curtains meant that this was essentially blackout conditions - excellent to avoid being woken by daylight coming through the east-facing window. There is a wonderful guest lounge, which is also where a good breakfast is served. The house is spotless and decor is very attractive. It is located about 2 miles by road from the centre of Castlebay. The house is located at a ninety-degree bend and you don't get a good sight of what might be coming downhill towards you as you drive out of the steep car parking area - that said, it's hardly a road with a lot of traffic: it's very quiet. This is definitely a place where you *must* stay!
