Detailed Reviews
Good remote communication during initial booking stage. However this was let down on arrival as never met host or received any further contact during our stay.
Stayed in a double room within the ‘Bunk House’ which was accessed via a lobby and had a separate communal TV lounge and kitchen area.
Yes the breakout area was good but this section was not very secure/never locked, meaning any non-residents could just wander in off the street as they pleased and made my wife very restless throughout the night. To reinforce this point I established this actually happened the previous evening and could easily have been resolved by a visible presence/regular checks by the hosts throughout the day and mounting a simplex lock to the door with a combination given only to the paying guests.
The bed was comfortable but linen and supplied towels although clean resembled a menagerie of different colours/patterns.
The bathroom sink had a large noticeable crack in the basin and the shower cubicle was infested with mould to the degree we declined to use it.
Whilst the accommodation was cheap in comparison to others, this still failed to meet our minimum expectations and could do with an upgrade as facilities look tired.
I would not stay here again.

We stayed here 2 nights and found the facilities really good - shower block with toilets, little kitchen area with dining table, washing machine and tumble drier plus a little play area for kids with swing, trampoline and basketball hoop.
Electric hook up and water
It’s a bit further up the island but still saw quite a few cyclists travel up to it, just be aware the hills are quite challenging.
Would recommend.

We stayed here with a camper and tent. When we first we arrived no-one was around and no signage to state who to call or where we were to pitch, but we called the number on our booking email and an associate of the owner came up and told us where to pitch. Once we knew where we needed to go we were settled and had a look around the amenities which were very simple but very clean ( all you needed really). The children's play area is basic and run down so probably wouldn't let kids play there. Overall it was a good little camp site but just needs some attention on the outside to make it feel more welcoming. A white board with names and pitch numbers for arrivals that day may be a good idea, I seen this elsewhere and works very well. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a gem of a campsite, with great facilities & welcoming, hospitable owners. It’s ideally located for driving or cycling into Vatersay, castlebay or up to the Ardmhor ferry to Eriskay. The owners are lovely people & it’s a great place.

I feel i have to write this review to STOP anyone hiring the old pile of rust masquerading as a caravan. First i must say that the staff were lovely and very helpful and i'm sure they don't pay them anywhere near enough for keeping a straight face when handing the keys over for the caravan. Also i can't comment on the rooms.
Anyway the first thing i noticed about the caravan was the lovely aroma. Similar maybe to a dung smuggler's duffelbag. The lack of curtains or blinds also grabbed my attention. Then there is the old throw-over which covers got only knows on the seating area. Honestly this is a joke hiring this wreck out. If the local scrap dealer got charged 10p for this it would be 15p too much. Barra is stunning, well worth a visit but give this 1970s caravan a miss. Even the fleas were moving out when we arrived. The van had more rust than the Titanic. Croft 183 do the right thing and call the scrap merchant. Put old rusty out its misery

Last stop on our bikepacking tour, having been blown away by the wonderful campsites we had stayed at up to Croft 183. No one at site when arrived, and phone calls resulting in "someone may be round about 3pm" not inspiring confidence. Much later than 3pm eventually shown to a tiny area of raised rough embankment next to the main driveway which apparently is the area for tents. Bares no resemblence to the pictures on the website? Previous reviewer's description of the site's resemblence to a scrap yard not far off the mark. Can't comment on other accomodation offered by Croft 183 but it is definitely not a campsite for tents.

We had a week in the yurt and were very happy with our accommodation. It is very spacious, with its own bathroom and kitchen, linked by a natty little tunnel, which was much appreciated when it rained. It is basic and unpretentious (and doesn't claim to be anything other), so perhaps not suitable for someone who prefers luxury, but we got a lot of yurt for our money, and it was absolutely perfect for our needs. Lovely Mac, the football-playing dog was an added bonus!

We stayed for 3 nights here and it was a great location to explore Barra. We were made to feel very welcome. We felt very safe. There was a place to store bikes, a well stocked, clean kitchen where tea, coffee and breakfast provided. It had a lovely sun room and wee garden for us to use. The bed was really comfortable. The rooms were clean and the sitting area large and comfortable. We were made to feel very welcome.

Lovely staff, great site and very clean. Enjoyed visit and look forward to booking again. Knowledgable staff and good prices.. We stayed a week in the static caravan, which was very well equipped, kids enjoyed the space, the dvd selection. Handy location for exploring Barra. Thanks for the stay.

So Barra was last stop on our Hebrides road trip and we were expecting so much more from this site. Arrived mid afternoon to a deserted site with the exception of the dog. Walked round a bit trying to find someone and ended up phoning to be met by “your here already”! Was told to park up anywhere and someone would come shortly to show us around. No one turned up. We parked up in one of overgrown spaces and hooked up. Grass definitely needed a good mow and weeding on the hard standing Went to investigate after waiting a while. So conservatory leading into communal dining kitchen toilet shower block (3 toilets and 2 showers). Great spec for a hallowe’en party. Cobwebs dead flies dead spiders generally a LOT of built up of grime and dirt. Fridge not switched on but wouldn’t use anyway. Grime and mould round sink. Floor needed a good mop. Toilets and showers. Had to use but not good. Major black mould in both showers. One was screen which was marginally better than the blue / Green / frilly shower curtain nice not. Didn’t get too close to it. Toilet and shower we used was not cleaned the two nights we stayed. Can’t comment on kitchen as would not use to prepare food. Would have moved site but island was chocca full. Not sure if this is local launderette as washer and dryer were full for two days. So disappointed and would not recommend an hour never mind a night or two.
