First impressions from the valley were promising: a medieval castle perched atop a mountain with pretty Trigance village below. We were warmly welcomed and shown an attractive, large room with character which proved to be quiet and comfortable.
Food in the vaulted restaurant was excellent and beautifully presented, from admittedly a limited menu which didn't change during our 3 night stay. Breakfast, which we took on the terrace, was generous and high quality.
Views from the Chateau are truly stunning and there is generous space on the terrace to enjoy a drink, read a book or simply take in the scenery.
Staff were extremely friendly and efficient.
For those wishing to explore the Gorges du Verdon, this hotel is an excellent choice and I would unhesitatingly stay here again.

We spent 4 nights at this classy chateau and I cannot say enough positive things about it! . First the views are stunning. Every morning you take your breakfast on the beautiful terrace overlooking the mountains and valleys. Not only is breakfast delicious and fresh, but the service provided by Bastien brings a smile to your face every morning.. He is so professional that he asked once what I like for breakfast and he remembered every single day! That’s customer service for you! The spacious rooms capture the style of the castle and are just lovely. The room was impeccably clean and the bathroom had all the amenities you need. The staff is dynamic, smart, efficient, courteous and genuinely enjoying working there. In fact we really liked the very pleasant “vibe” of customer service we received. Kudos to Hortense, obviously a master manager, Anaëlle who was so helpful when we needed help with our little dog, Bastien for his wonderful breakfast service. It is easy to get to hiking trails, lakes and gorgeous villages from the chateau. It is a gem and our short stay there was nothing short of unforgettable!

Spent 7 wonderful nights at the Chateau. Unique and sublime location; breathtaking views across the valley; complete peace and quiet (no air conditioning noise!) - just the wind and birdsong. Delightful and very helpful staff who really care as it's their business. Excellent food of Michelin quality (you would have to go to a Relais & Châteaux to eat as well); hearty breakfasts. Great hikes direct from the hotel down to the gorges or back over the other side. Very good value.

I only came here for dinner and drinks and to tour the castle a little bit, but it was one of the most magical experiences I had in France. Food was fantastic, the view was wondrous, and I've never felt so enchanted by the charm and mystery of an old castle. The fact you can sleep there and wake up to such an amazing view from the ramparts is worth the stay. Additionally, I am so appreciative of the staff - theire care and attention is one of my most cherished memories as a tourist. They made me feel understood and truly made me feel at ease, which amplified the enjoyable experience all the more. The proprietors are unmatched in their skill and care!

Room Tip: Ask to see the history of the castle. Be careful with the artifacts, so everyone can enjoy them!

We stayed at the Chateau for one night in August. Upon entering, we were greeted by wonderful staff. It felt as thought we had the whole Chateau to ourselves, with all of the individual attention. Manon showed us around the Chateau & to our room. It was already set up for our family of three.

After a brief rest and time on our private terrace, we had aperitifs in the lounge and played some pool. The view from the panoramic terrace is breathtaking!

The young couple that manage the property (hostess & chef) run a phenomenal operation. They are so kind & the dinner was absolutely amazing - 5 + stars.

In the morning, we were served a wonderful continental breakfast with fresh French pastries, cheeses, fruit & granola.

It all exceeded our expectations! We would recommend the Chateau de Trigance to all! See a few comments below from my husband regarding getting to the Chateau…

Husband’s tips:

When you cross the tiny bridge, turn right. DO NOT TURN LEFT! Apple Maps will not direct you to the parking lot, but to the area below the Chateau.

In the morning, they will bring breakfast anywhere. If you would like to eat in your room or on the scenic terrace just ask. Their whole purpose seems to be to make their guests happy.

We were gob-smacked by this wonderful hotel. Not a bad word to say about it. Food was excellent (they provided us a vegan option) and staff were very helpful. The panoramic sun terrace provided excellent views of the surrounding countryside and the village itself was delightful.

A beautifully situated chateau with amazing views from the terrace. Our bedroom was furnished in keeping with the chateau but with modern comfort! Breakfast was lovely and dinner was superb. The staff were amongst the most helpful and friendly we have come across.

We spent four nights here and loved it. The service is amazing, the setting incredible and the food delicious. The village is also charming and very much alive. Wonderful hiking from the chateau or a short drive to the Gorge du Verdon. Hortense and Théo, the young owners, have created a masterpiece.

Great location, great views. It is a fantastic starting point for visiting Gorges du Verdon, a spectacular scenery.
Perhaps the dining room was dark, but we have seen it on the hotel website and we knew what to expect. The castle is only 1000 years old (and restored), so we didn't expect aluminum and glass Hilton. We thought the ambiance was excellent. Our youngest group member (15) was absolutely mesmerized by the thick walls and a hidden passage which she could observe on a side of the window. She was pondering a method by which she could remove the iron bars and enter the forbidden corridor...

What really got us hooked, though, was the food. We dined there both nights we stayed there. The set menu was somewhere 2 stars above the hotel star rating. Starting with a delicious bread (baked in the village right outside the fortress walls), through presentations and flavour, and ending with delicate desserts, it was a temptation none of our group of six could resist.
The owner spoke English quite well, and rescued us from our struggling French during menu selection.
We had lovely breakfasts on the outdoor patio, and spend the days driving and hiking in the Gorges.
Would go back there in a heartbeat.
Absolutely wonderful experience.

I booked this on the strength of tripadvisor reviews which have all been excellent. The view of it from the valley below was tremendous. Castellated grey building on top of 'mountain'. However this place was not my scene. It reminded me of the set-up of a haunted house at a funfair in the '70's. Odd wooden staging(very disneyland), past the kitchen, to the entrance. If that's your buzz then it is for you. It was dark. Very, very dark , especially the dining room & reception & had a damp, dank smell about it and it seemed deserted although the car park was full.
Artex walls & ceiling in rooms :(( , i presume to create an 'authentic' mediaeval wall effect .
In it's favour the bathroom & bedroom were very clean although could do with a re-vamp & the bed was comfortable.
