A pleasure to be hosted by David in the rather too sleepy town of Lodeve. Just the kind of accommodation we needed after a long day's cycling - with a good breakfast to get us going again in the morning.

I recently stayed again with the wonderful family who own and run Lattelier Du Solondre! Nothing was too much trouble the food was delicious and I could not have been happier on this short break in such a beautiful part of France.

The beauty of staying in B and Bs is that you meet REAL people ie REAL hosts, otherwise just stay in soulless chain hotels .This place has soul for sure, we really enjoyed our stay and it was made very special by the charming Jo who deserves a medal for keeping the place running so soon after the loss of...

We have just returned from a 5 day painting break at l'Atelier and we had a great time. Sally and David made us feel very welcome in their lovely home in a fantastic location in Lodeve, and went over and above to look after us. It is refreshing to meet such genuine people. I am still reeling from everything learnt...

It's my second visit this summer to the studio of David McEwen..... (I last went in 2012 - please see my previous review) This year I brought a painting that I was struggling with alongside 5 blank canvases and a large box of Alkyd oil paint, determined to raise my technique, confidence and approach once more... I was not disappointed!...

David and Sally are wonderful hosts with David being the art instructor and Sally cook extraordinaire! It was a lovely, relaxing week with my non painting husband being able to walk and take lots of photographs, and me testing David's patience. He's not the first person to tell me to go slow when I draw and paint! Food was amazing...more...

I spent a week in L' Atelier du Soulondre attending painting classes with David Mc Ewen. He is an excellent teacher, able to extract the best from every attendant. As it concerns the environment of the house is cosy and friendly with interesting discussions around the big table in the dining room while Sally presents her cooking creations which are...

Convenient to town. Friendly, helpful owner (Sally) - added extra of offering art tuition so interesting mix of guests. Visit to local (cordon bleau standard) restaurant with all the guests was a delight.

It became clear to me whilst staying at L'Atelier du Soulondre that many people return to stay here multiple times. I think the reason why they do, is not just because the usual 'checklist' of holiday requirements is met, but that there is an extra ingredient that makes this place a unique stay. It will be a different experience for...
