Stayed January 2020. Great value and location. Pool is pleasant and shaded, but the loungers are really uncomfortable.
Rooms are spacious and very clean. The minibar is stocked daily with water, but that is all. Unfortunately the AC sounds like an aircraft taking off constantly, and the only place you can get a relatively reliable internet connection is in the hallway.
Beds are firm, and my shower was good, but other travellers reported issues.
There is a charge of apx AUD $60 if you want a “guest” in your room, so probably not for singles.
I didn’t try breakfast, but neither were a lot of other people. I don’t think that means anything, just that there is a lot of choice outside the hotel
3 minute walk to beach. 5 minutes to shopping centre on a bustling street.
If they fixed the internet, I would have given it an extra star

You can book this hotel online, agoda.com, and you can get this place for half the price. If you get 3000baht or more, you are paying wayyy too much. We got it for 1700baht and included breakfast Good location, at the beginning of Chaweng Beach, so only 5-10 min to the hustle and bustle of Chaweng Beach. Across the street from the beach. Lots of shopping around. Good breakfast available. Very clean rooms, quite trendy bathroom, with an actual bathtub. The only 2 things bad about this hotel, was that it's not soundproof, and b/c the rooms are smoking, there is a musky cologne smell in all the rooms. It's a fairly young crowd hotel, so when all the party goers are coming back from the bars, you can hear everything.. from people talking in the hallways, to people in the bathroom, and i mean you can hear everything.
The staff in the restaurant were very nice. Front desk staff originally weren't that nice, but once we booked they became friendly.

Nice, clean and modern hotel in a good location. It is located at one end of the Chaweng strip and far enough away from any of the nocturnal madness for those who do not wish to partake. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, and the main pubs and clubs close also. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms clean and modern. Wifi could be a bit slow, that aside, no complaints.

Close to the beach with best of restaurants nearby and happening street, this is a wonderful place to stay with family and friends. Its a wonderful small hotel with excellent and polite staff. We felt soo welcomed after a long international flight. The beach is 5 min walking distance if you cut through a resort opposite the hotel. Breakfast is not so impressive but since it is just THB 200 I would say its value for money. The Area is very quiet until 11:00 am, so it would be wise to have breakfast at this hotel, else depend on some small marts like 7-11 which is not very far from this hotel on either side. Laundry service is available nearby for THB 50 which was really good. A large mall is just walking distance from the hotel and has a lot of fast food restaurants and a large supermarket. There was noise from the neighboring restaurant, which was the only downside.

On first arriving at the Nora Chaweng Hotel, I was very impressed, then it went downhill from there.
The BIG problem with the Nora Chaweng Hotel is that, it allows unregistered guests to frequent the hotel at night.

The hotel is ideally located for the Night clubs and Girly bars in Chaweng. Therefore registered guest bring back “unregistered Thai guest” to their rooms at night for entertainment.

Stayed 13 nights at the hotel, unfortunately myself and my partner were awakened on 5 of theses nights between 4 and 6 am, due to noise from different rooms.

The noise was usually related to loud vigorous amorous activity, sometimes with up to four individuals in a single room. Loud demands for money for sexual services rendered. Late night Thai language classes. Unregistered Thai guest refusing to leave, after amorous activity, when requested to do so by the registered guest.

The very limited staff “working” at night do not speak English.
Therefore complaining about the noise to night staff is a waste of time. They even refuse to come to the floor to hear the noise for themselves. Basically we were told to deal with the noise ourselves.

Arguing and pleading with intoxicated registered guest, ladyboys, male and female Thai sex workers at 4am is not how I wish to spending my nights while on holiday.
This is what you will expect if you are staying in a bungalow on the beach but not a supposedly 4 star “boutique” hotel.

Complaining numerous times to the day staff who have a good command of the English language, was not much help. We always got a very sincere “I am very sorry” but absolutely no action. We were told that there could not move us to another floor or another room without the Manager’s permission. Asking to speak to the Manager was a waste of time he was always at lunch or away at a meeting, and he was never able to come and speak or telephone us despite numerous requests.

To sum up, if you are single male and sharing a room with another single male and wish to bring back two female Thai “friends” for some late night entertainment this is the ideal hotel for you.

If on the other hand, you wish to get a good night sleep forget it….

It is a shame as the hotel had such potential.

After our last night in "The Island" across the road, we had one night left before our flight. We saw this newly opened joint standing before our eyes and took a punt.

We opted for the Suite for a couple of hundred Bhat extra, and could not believe the size of the room. And it was luxurious, well-appointed, and all the other words that brochures use until they become cliched. And it cost only a fraction more than the slightly tired looking "The Island".

The finishing touches were still occurring when we stayed and it had that new hotel smell. The staff were wonderful and the buffet brekky was likewise. We ate at no fewer than 5 resort/hotel buffets during our trip, and although the menus are almost always similar, it is the little things that edges one above the other.

Nora Chaweng is a a retreat from the madhouse that is Chaweng. It's only drawback is that it's not on the beachside and you'll have to cut through one of the many resorts that monopolise this overcrowded beach. But although the sand is lovely, the Northern part of Chaweng beach is not pleasant to swim. A strip of rocks creates a barrier from the cooler ocean water and the shallow water is uncomfortably warm and unrefreshing. I tried to wade out past the rocks but be warned - there are many sharp pieces of coral just beneath the sand when you get closer to the rocks, and for the next 3 days I was hobbling around Chaweng like a [--]
So I preferred the pool by the time I arrived here anyway...

I stay one night at the hotel, I was get worse treated from the reception. I was forced to dismantle the suitcase in the reception to have a passport. When I did Check Out – I forced to pay money for spending time with Thai girl and for new card room. Manager was telling me – if I do not pay she will put my videos with the thai girl - on YouTube, and she don't want people like me in the hotel. Disgusting!!! STAY AWAY.

Response from Aroon B, Manager at Floral Hotel Chaweng Koh Samui
Responded 18 Nov 2013
With the advantage of having well-trained staffs with innate sense of authentic Thai hospitality, it is not very hard for us to make a good first impression to our guests. It just comes naturally. The unpretentious smiles and greetings is not just a courtesy that we give to them, it conveys a feeling of warmth welcoming and a subliminal message to remind them that they are here to experience a great holiday. That is just one part to make you feel the “Welcome Home!” treatment. Before you head to their well-appointed rooms, we make sure that you will have a sense security during your stay with us. And in order to accomplish that, you have to go through the check-in process. Here in Nora Chaweng Hotel, we do it simple and fast; sign the registration – show your passport for identification – finish. And we do the rest for you. Smart travelers go through this process very easily. They understand that proper identification protects them against unregistered outsiders that may cause disturbance to their privacy. Occasionally, there are new travelers who would decline to provide a proper identification but would easily comply once it was explained with them. But there are also those kinds of guests who would just not cooperate. They come in the hotel the same way come in and out of a public market. In other words they are just dim-witted and dense-minded. The review posted above is a perfect example of that kind of guest. This guest declined to show his passport during check-in which is, as a hotelier, we would feel very suspicious about him. Reasoning out that he don’t want to be bothered opening his suitcase, he then sat at the lobby chair and weirdly talked to himself. After awhile, he stood up, reached for his pocket and pull out his passport. It was never in his suitcase. He was a very hard customer but our Guest Service Agents never gave up on him. He was professionally escorted to his room to show the hotel facilities and in-room amenities. He was also advised that since he is the only guest registered in his room, as a hotel security policy, no outside visitors are allowed to go up to the guests’ floors nor in the guests’ rooms. Visitors who wish to stay with a friend’s or relative’s room in the hotel must register with a valid identification and must pay the extra person charge. He responded with contempt that he understood the said policy. During his check-out he returned a damaged key card which somehow looked purposely damaged. He also declined to pay the extra person charge of his accompaniment in the room. Also, it is just plain impossible to neither record nor post his video in Youtube as we do not have cameras inside the rooms. Clearly, this is not an issue that our hotel will apologize for. This response is not intended to blame this guest but to set an example on how easy it is ruin your own holiday by being arrogant to the people who are open-heartedly welcoming you. So we are very thankful to this guest for being kind enough in setting up an example of him by posting his review.

Good hotel, great staff with good service. In the centre of Chaweng, 5 min walk from the beach. The had unfortunately no balcony. All other facilities were good! Room is good and there is also a hit tube available. Swing pool in the ground floor.

Arrived at the hotel ready to start a contiki tour - the hotel was clean, and the rooms were spacious and clean. Some parts of the room were a little dated but there was nothing that put us off. The shower was also really powerful. Breakfast was fantastic - you could order whatever you wanted off the menu and they would cook it all fresh for you and bring it out. Central location on the main strip and able to access the main attractions of Koh Samui really easily. Able to leave out bags here on the last day so we could explore without having to carry bags around. Great hotel in a good location. Beach was a 5 minute walk from the hotel which was really handy!
