Bhundhari Spa was tremendous, our pool villa was right at the top of the hill (room 5207), which after seeing those down at the bottom, i think we got the best option as we had the sun till mid afternoon. Pool Villas at the bottom of resort seemed to be in the shade most of the time, it was more fun going up and down the hill on the golf buggy's, which were required as its a very steep walk/climb to the top, not recommended if you have walking difficulties.

Room was big clean and comfortable with a massive bathroom.
Food and drinks a little expensive compared to the nearby resort.
Nice breakfast with plenty of choice.

Nice beach but watch out for sharp stones and rocks.
Taxi required to get to resort, road too dark to walk it and a bit far, taxis are plentiful and cheap.

What a beautiful location!. Situated just north of Chewang beach I'm glad we payed the extra and stayed in a spa villa on the lower side of the resort Our room was spacious, bedroom area enclosed and fully air conditioned and I loved the idea of the outside shower and toilet and the covered spa.Perfect for beach access and private pool and bar area.Having to walk up the hill and across the road to breakfast was annoying at first but we considered this 'exercise'! Having said it is in a quiet location you need to catch a tuk-tuk to go anywhere as this resort is not within walking distance to shops or restaurants. The resort staff themselves spoke little English and were polite but not overly friendly except for the man who ushered us across the road daily.

The staff here were very friendly and couldn't do enough to accommodate you. It's about half an hour's walk to Lamai but there are taxi's available (although be prepared to barter!). A lovely, relaxing place with great food and a fantastic pool - I'd definetly come back.

Covid may have a part to play in the horridness of this hotel but from previous reviews (which i wish i had seen earlier) it seems like this hotel is downright awful and the management knows it.

Upon arrival to check-in at 1pm, no staff were present at the reception. It seemed liked a ghost town, understaffed and under-maintained. We waited for 20mins before 1 of its only staff in the entire hotel appeared. We knew we were in for a bad experience

Room was terrible. Old, broken and had insects all around. We booked a villa with the pool and the pool was dirty. A pond outside the room seemed to have stale water and was absolutely not maintained. There was also an old musty smell to the room. Air conditioning was leaking and wifi was not working.

The toilet had one bathtub which was elevated so low that water would spray around the entire toilet if u attempted to use the shower head. We had to do so because the shower itself was located outdoors where a giant tree was planted in the middle of the shower.

Staff was decent but it was obvious they were under staffed and had no support from the management team. It seemed like the management did not even care.

Asked for a refund for 2 nights and didnt get it. Upon reading the reviews, it seems like some others got their refund. Should have tried harder.... staff were not surprised by our experience (surprise surprise).

Not worth the money. Dont bother staying here unless its dirt cheap. They dont care about you, so you shouldn’t either.

We have recently stayed here for 10 nights. We stayed in a pool villa, which after a day out was much appreciated. Our room was spacious, the bed really comfortable and air con worked well. We loved the outdoor shower.

We spent time at the restaurant and enjoyed the entertainment. The staff are all very nice and went out of their way to accommodate all requests.

We were pleased to be just out of Chewang Beach as was busy with the full moon party.

We had a couple of massages at the Spa and was very impressed with the level of service.

We would recommend this Resort to anyone thinking of going.

we found this hotel on agoda and went and checked it, and we loved it from the minute we arrived. We only had one night left of our holiday and wanted something a little special!
We booked a room using agoda as the lady on reception couldnt offer us the cheaper rate that the internet did.
The hotel itself is amazing, the rooms are lovely with huge baths in, lovely tv, fridge, mini bar, tea making facilities, and good views.
We paid for breakfast as this was not in the cost of our room of £63.
Breakfast cost us £10 a person well worth the cost, there was so much choice, the nicest breakfast I have experienced in thailand.
The pools are amazing, having three pools at the top of the hotel and three down by the beach.
They are very clean and we found that not many people used them, considering how big the hotel was.
We also ate their dinner and what an experience the chef was amazing.
It cost us £65 which is alot of thailand, but money well worth spent.
We also booked into the spa, and had some treatments, again it cost a lot but worth the money.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants a bit of luxury.

Also would like to say the security guys who help you across the road are amazing, so friendly, they work 7-7 and get paid such little.

Bhundhari as I figured our means Lotus in Thai. Bhundhari was earlier the Centara and is a glimmering lotus set on a hill slope on the far end of Chewang Beach. The property spreads down and across the road merges into one of the best beach fronts at Chewang Beach. Bhundhari is idyllically located at one of the most peaceful ends of Chewang away from the more raucous main Chewang market.

All the high end rooms are located on hill top offering a majestic view of the turquoise sea and an uninhabited island nearby. There are two main pools one on the hill slope, which gives a nice infinity view and the other much close to the beach.

Good size rooms and amazing beds, lot of wood used in making this resort gives it a very premium feel and it feels like living in a majestic royal Thai setting. I loved the hospitality and the enjoyed the luxury offered at the property and all this comes at a surprisingly wonderful budget for a luxxury hotel.

We stayed for seven nights at the Bhundari and had a really good stay.

The Bhundari is a beautiful hotel set over two sides of a road. We stayed at the higher end near reception. A number of previous reviews have complained about the steepness of the hotel roads but as long as you're not infirm or elderly I thought it was fine.

The location is terrific - about a 10 minute taxi ride to the main resort of Chaweng - always barter with the taxi driver (although you're likely to get it cheaper on the way back than on the way out). The hotel also runs a four times a day bus (80 baht) to and from Chaweng. On one occasion we didn't get picked up and when we mentioned this at the front desk they were very quick to apologise and offered us a free meal at the restaurant which was delicious (more of that later).

The room was nice, the bed was extremely comfortable and we had a great night's sleep there. There's lots of space to hang clothes, and included in the room are plentiful tea and coffee, a kettle, fruit on arrival (but this wasn't cleared away) water is replenished on a daily basis, there's a fridge (but not a mini bar), a safe, a hair dryer and plenty of toiletries. There's also a TV and DVD player. The room also had a balcony with a comfortable long seat so you can relax out of the sun. There's a nice sunken bath and an indoor rainforest style shower.

The hotel itself is very beautiful. There's two really good sized pools at the top of the hotel, they offer great views of the sea but I personally preferred the slightly smaller pool at the bottom of the hotel near the beach which had its own in pool bar which is perfect for having a cocktail and looking out over the beach. The pool bar at the top pool also has a pool table and they show a selection of films in the evening as well.

Cocktails are great value at the hotel with 2 4 1 deals from 1 - 6pm and then again from 9pm in the evening.

I was really impressed by the food. The breakfast buffet (included in the price) was brilliant - there was everything from traditional English, to continental, eggs cooked as you like them, dim sum, Thai style breakfast, french toast etc etc. There's plenty of juices and tea and coffee are served when you sit. You do need to ask the staff to repour if you want more than one.

In the day the pool bars serve either a snack menu (pizza / sandwiches etc) or you can order off the main menu which is used in the evening - we had a variety of different things when there - the seafood sandwich is delicious as was the spaghetti bolognese. When we got our free dinner (because they hadn't picked us up from Chaweng) it was a Thai set meal - it was gorgeous!! We were asked by the head chef whether we wanted spicy or not - we went for spicy and it definitely was - really tasty and probably one of the best meals we had the whole week.

On the Tuesday night we went to their Thai buffet, it cost 690 baht and was all that you could eat - I would definitely recommend doing this - there was a huge amount of choice and with the entertainment they put on it's a nice way to spend the early evening before heading into town.

On other days the Bay restaurant has a nice band singing cover songs - it was a shame there weren't many people to listen to them, (probably wrong time of year) but sometimes felt a little awkward if there was only two or three tables and the singer trying to engage - not her fault.

There is a gym on site - has one running machine, a cycle, a cross trainer and an all in one weights machine - there is a spa but we couldn't get into it as it was fully booked. There is a place to sort out excursions, we did one which was ok, we probably could have organised a better one ourselves but to be fair it wasn't a hotel specific tour.

Free Wi-fi is available in reception and at the bar / restaurant areas but you have to pay for it in your room so be careful of that - I'm not sure why it's like that. The standard of English with the staff can be quite poor and you're forever having to point things out on the menus, but in fairness they do try.

We also had a 20% discount on all food and drink included in our deal but rather than just delete 20% off the final bill you had to tell the staff every single time that you had that discount which invariably meant them having to change the receipt every time (you sign every time you have something rather than running up a tab) or if you forgot then you had to pay full price, so that could be quite annoying so if they could change that that would be great.

There is free airport transfers.

However, overall it's a beautiful hotel, with fantastic views, it was very cheap, both the booking and whilst we were there, the staff are very friendly and want to help and I would definitely recommend staying here - just a couple of tweaks and this really could be a high standard hotel.

We stayed here for 2 nights, and were upgraded to a villa we got a deal on lastminute.com
Pros:
Stunning room, amazing bathroom and shower, awesome bed and views, we found the hotel very relaxing. We enjoyed having two days where we were out of the hustle and bustle
Ther guest relations Andi was awesome and having someone speak english was really helpful and made our stay more enjoyable. On our final day we checked out at 12 and there was facility for us to shower before we got on our plane

Cons:
We had to walk to our villa which isn't problem however at night it was dark and there was noone to drive us up, we had to wait till midday for pool towels despite aasking for them from the lobby there were none. There was no room service menu in our room, there is only wifi in the lobby. There was no spa menu in our room.

Despite the small cons I would still stay here again and recommended friends and family stay here too for a quiet relaxing time

I don't even know where to start with commending this resort for making our stay so enjoyable. The staff were exceptionally friendly, courteous and always willing to go out of their way to look after us. Each and every staff member!!

I had a scooter accident during our stay at the resort and spent most of our time there on crutches but this only further proved how caring and generous the staff really were. Always willing to help, making sure I was comfortable, and genuinely caring about how I was feeling each day.

But I really want to make a point of personally thanking the manager - Andrew jones. Both my partner and i cannot thank you enough for what you did for us during our entire stay. From driving us to and from the hospital, to lending me DVDs, your constant generosity, and positive and friendly manner. We will have no hesitation in recommending this resort to anyone heading over your way. And we will definitely be staying here again when we come back (minus the crutches) :-)

The resort itself, the food, the cleanliness - everything was perfect.

Thanks again to EVERYONE there!!!

Joel and Jen - room 2203!! :-) xx

it is too dangerous to swim at the beach which is adjoined to the sister resort of bhundari which is just across the road from the making bhundari resorts lobby. there are no lifeguards at the beach and the currents are extremely strong and will suck you in. we were advised not swim in it. We dipped our feet in and got scared because it was sucking our whole body in. just use the resorts pools.
