Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

From arrival to departure Nimh and all the hotel staff provided exceptional service. The hotel is in a great beachside location and the facilities and breakfast were great. The villa was the cleanest and most comfortable room we have stayed in during our 4 week trip around Thailand.

‘Sea view’ means ‘Roof view’ to this hotel. The Samui Resotel advertised our room as a ‘Sea view’ room but in reality it is ‘Small sea glimpse with ugly roofs’. When we complained that we were not getting what we paid for we were offered an ‘upgrade’ to a room next to the swimming pool that no doubt would be noisy. Our travelling companion also bought a room with ‘sea views’ but he is on the 3rd floor and is high enough to look beyond the sea of roofs to actually have somewhat of a sea view. We’ve asked to be relocated to the 3rd floor but there is no availability. Perhaps word is already out… don’t be deceived by the promise of a ‘sea view’ in the advertising. If you love ugly roof views then come to this hotel.

On arrival we were given cold drinks reception very small. Had to wait for room to be ready. Our room was on third floor over looking the pool. Room a good size and bathroom good size and very clean. The resort very cold and no Thai character. Was like a resort in the Mediterranean to much concrete and alley ways. Also a lot of waisted space. Beach kept very clean and crystal clear water. Sun beds hard to get some days. Breakfast reasonable and the breakfast lay out a bit strange. Stayed seven days and the WI-FI NOT THE BEST KEPTED BREAKING DOWN. One girl on reception had good English SEEMED TO DO MOST OF THE WORK. The man on the reception also very good when there. One girl on reception could not understand English very well and became a little aggressive. The resort is at the far end of beach and a Twenty minute walk to Samui central. Strange set up with beach towels, had to return to reception to get clean beach towels and leave old ones. Over all Ok but not our type of resort.

Perfect room on the beach with 6m x 2m!!! Large room . Large bathroom. Double bath!! Never used it...no need. Can go swimming directly off your room! Warm as water. Lovely warm breeze constantly. Never needed a hair dryer! Staff wonderful. Free bus to central everyday 2pm and 6pm and pick up back 2.15pm and 6pm. Bed comfortable. Buffet breakfast wonderful. We were here in 2009 and even better this time. Sure slightly tired....but made no difference to our incredibly enjoyable stay at this wonderful place. Also main pool 35m long! Great for morning laps! We will be back!!

We spent a month in a pool villa at the Samui Resotel. The villa was well furnished and the beds very comfortable. Our friendly cleaner did an excellent job each day, everything being topped up or replaced each day. The plunge pool on our terrace was always clean. The buffet breakfast had a large selection of items which were regularly topped up. It made a great start to the day. The meals we purchased at night on the terrace overlooking the beach were very good value, well presented and very tasty. We never had a bad meal. There is a nice beach with sunbeds, small tables and umbrellas and friendly staff to assist movement of them if required. The main pool had a submerged bar and plenty of sunbeds around it. The water was always clean. One mid afternoon for an hour, there was a power and water failure, which was not the fault of the resort and will not have affected most guests. Although it was beyond the control of the resort, the management arranged a free cocktail evening with fantastic food for guests. This was a nice gesture. We found all the staff were very polite, friendly and helpful who helped make our holiday a wonderful time. We have visited Koh Samui before and this is the best resort we have stayed at and we will return.

Currently on day 5 of our 7 night stay. Whilst the hotel is very clean it is showing lots of sign of wear and tear which lets the place down A LOT! Staying in a Ocean Pool Villa. If you look past the crap on the beach the view is stunning. Lots of rubbish washed up - bottles, footwear, bags - and whilst I appreciate the hotel doesn’t have any control over what people through into the Ocean, it wouldn’t take much for them to clear the beach everyday like other hotels along here do. Currently very difficult to drop down from our terrace onto the beach without having to walk through lots of rubbish. Villa itself whilst clean and spacious is very dated. Cupboard bottoms blown from over mopping. Surfaces and bedside cupboards chipped and marked. A quick lick of paint would’ve covered all this up as it’s the first thing you see when you enter. Bathroom area lovely and spacious with shower, massive bath and WC. Separate sink and dressing area also good. Bathroom and dressing area don’t appear that dated so not sure why rest of the areas do. Patio doors are the old aluminium type, are quite rusty and rickety, rattle a lot, are not easy to close and don’t lock properly. Outside private pool area, whilst lovely, again needs some TLC. Both inside and outside of pool needs some serious re grouting and the unsafe grid lid sorting. Breakfast is mediocre at best. Not much variety, but edible. Need to pay more attention to getting tables cleared and fresh cutlery, cups etc put out. One morning we waited nearly 10 mins for clean cups to be brought out. Bars/restaurant. Whilst food tasted amazing - service was shocking. On one occasion we had to request our drinks 4 times before they remembered to bring them. All staff bar one we came across at breakfast one morning were always smiling and helpful. Internet - despite being advertise as ‘high speed’ is cr*p and we struggled most of the time to get any connectivity from it. Ended up just using our 4G In comparison to our hotel in Phuket, this one seems very expensive given the above. We paid over £200 a night so really did expect a higher standard. Probably wouldn’t return as I’m sure there’s far more affordable and higher standard of hotels nearby. Lots to do outside of hotel to both left and right, but hotel is situated about a 25-30 min walk from Chewang Centre, but lots of taxi available on the road outside.

Stayed in room 1101 Firstly we got there and had to hand over a 2k deposit which wasn't noted on booking.com then had to wait for an hour for our room to be ready and then when we got in there was a flood in the toilet the first night. Then we were invaded by insects every day which wasn't easy to deal with as the lighting was so poor throughout and the staff was absolutely useless. When I spoke to the manager she wasn't very helpful and told me that I would not be able to get ANY sort of refund. Disgusting customer service.

Dear Valued Guest, First of all, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Samui Resotel Beach Resort. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. For the damage deposit we have noted all information in booking.com, unsure why its not show on your booking and I have looked into this a bit further as its very our of character for any of the team to act this way. Its unsure why this was missed but please do understand the intention was to find reasonable compensation to make up for this. Please do note, we will use this feedback as a coaching opportunity for the team to be able to learn from this. Once again, we apologize for the shortfalls and hope that we have another opportunity to restore your faith in the hotel. Kind regards, Num Operation Manager

It is important to say that although the hotel is a little far from the Chweng area, it is quite unique for families and especially couples who are looking for a quality and slightly more solid hotel. The hotel staff works long hours and always with a smile and a bow of respect, always welcoming, always asking if everything is okay? Does the food taste good to you? how are the rooms It is very important that the hotel staff is so caring and cohesive

Our 5th or 6th stay with Samui Resotel, almost a home away from home and was great to go back after 4 years. We again stayed in the Ocean Pool Villa which we love. The staff were all wonderful and polite and the room was very clean. However, I would like to see the rooms updated more in regards to powerpoints and USB connections, plus improve lighting around the bathroom mirror. They had a DJ one Sunday night I which not many guests attended which I think was due to the guest ages, there were not many young people in the hotel that would enjoy that sort of entertainment more. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will stay again as it suits us.
