Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was stayed at this hotel for 4 weeks. It is away from the beach, but i enjoyed the walk. Also, very quiet with good jungle views and a nice Buddha on the hill. Tah at the front desk was AMAZINGLY helpful. The pool was nice, a little over chlorinated perhaps. Mama serves wonderful and reasonably priced food out by the pool.

We stayed here as a couple for a month during our TEFL course, please don't be put off by your first reaction to this place! It's old and probably could do with a bit of refurbishment but the rooms are spacious, air con works amazingly, cleaning gets done twice a week, pool is fantastic and the staff are helpful. It's located very close to the ring road for easy access to transport and a short walk through a local residential area to Chaweng beach. The food area at the far end of the pool is great. Cheap, tasty food cooked by a lovely lady. Great experience here!

I stayed here for four weeks while I was completing a TEFL course. What an amazing place. Lovely spacious apartment, clean with a beautiful balcony overlooking the mountains. Great pool, nice little restaurant with lovely freshly prepared food and the wifi worked really well. But the most amazing thing about this place is the staff. I really cannot say enough good things about the people who work here. Big hugs to Mama in the kitchen and A at reception, missing you already!!! They are all wonderful people who made me so welcome. I had many good chats to A, she speaks fantastic English and taught me so much about life on Koh Samui. Its about 15-20 minutes walk to the beach area and shops but there is a family mart across the road and a nice little bbq place on the corner. If you can ride a scooter then it might be beneficial and cost effective to rent one, as taxis are very expensive and the local Songthaw do not have a schedule. However, if you ask at reception, the technician will take you most places on the island and he is cheaper than the taxis.

We stayed here for three months for our long service leave late last year. What a fabulous place, highly recommended, great location, not far to walk to the beach, nice area, close to Bangkok hospital. Lots of eateries close by, but there is also a restaurant here as well, so if you don't want to go out, right there by the nice big pool. Nice cold beers, fantastic staff.A and B on desk and mamma in the restaurant. Aree the manager is awesome, please try this place you won't be disappointed. Only problem I could say is that they could do with mattresses on the day beds by the pool. That's my only complaint. Getting older the wood is a bit hard on your back.

I stayed there for one month unfortunately. There was money stolen from my room, with no help from the managent, I lost 30000baht. It was not the first time that this has happened either. Be weiry of this hotel. On the plus side, Mama is awesome and serves the best food. So for me. Maybe pop over for lunch. But do not stay

My partner and I Spent the Christmas and New Year's Eve in Samui and we were looking for a convenient and cheap accommodation since we would be spending three weeks in Samui. Staff were friendly and arranged for a motorbike for us to go around the island. Rooms were quite spacious and cleaned every two days unless requested. Balcony was nice , overlooking the little hills. On the day We left ; we arranged for pick up from hotel to airport. I left something in the hotel and Staff even drove me back to the hotel to retrieve it ! Would definitely recommend joy residence to friends who plan to visit Samui !

We are staying here for three months for our Long Service Leave. We cannot fault this place and staff on all of their helpfulness, kindness and would like to congratulate them all on a job well done. Also the restaurant is a pleasure to eat at. Thank you very much for a very pleasant stay, and would recommend you all to anyone who would like to stay here

This place is excellent particularly for longer term residents. I'm half way through a 4 week stay and have a basic but clean and thoroughly acceptable apartment - 1 of about 50 I would say - which is serviced twice a week. Friendly staff who organised my scooter hire (cheap) and will organise the laundry. The swimming pool is great and the photos dont really do it justice so I've attached one of my name. And the best bit? Hardly anyone else uses it! There's also a great poolside restaurant open from breakfast to 9pm serving breakfasts, sandwiches and burgers and authentic Thai food really cheap. You won't regret staying here or I'll give you a refund myself!

I spent 3 weeks here and it was a more than comfortable, semi-luxurious stay in Chaweng. Had an amazing experience here completing my TEFL training course. The place is quite empty and not too far from the beach. The pool area and bar/restaurant offers both Thai and Western food. Ari who runs the desk is lovely. Wifi wasn't great but the cleaning staff location made up for it.
