Just returned from our third stay at Long Beach Lodge in Koh Samui - this resort is situated right on the heart of Chaweng Beach - entrance is opposite the McDonalds and Starbucks on the main street. The resort hosts a range of cabins that extend down to beachfront with differing arrays of bedding configuations. We have two boys aged 10 and 8 and this accomodation suits the whole family perfectly. The boys can roam freely from the room to the beach and entertain themselves in the well shaded courtyard area behind the beach massage hut. Most cabins down the beach end have water views and all have airconditioning. The resort does not have a pool but the boys have never once asked to use a pool as they swim at the beach. The resort attracts all kinds of family structures including singlies and everyone is very friendly. The staff (although their english is limited) couldn't be more helpful and we have never had any issues. There are no safes in the room however you can sign over valuables to the reception desk for the duration of your stay.

Breakfast is not buffet style rather an option of a cooked breakfast (bacon and eggs or omlette), cereal, fresh fruit or toast. The quantity of food is fine and always up to standard. The resort offers lunch and dinner and reasonalbe prices (and the local food is beautiful).

The beach massage girls have come to know us (3rd time back) and they offer a great Thai massage overlooking the beach for 250 Baht. We hire scooters from the entrance to the resort for 200 Baht/day and keep them for the duration of our stay (best way to see the Island). Shopping is right on your doorstep as are many restaurants, bars, eateries, tourist offices, shopping marts and internet options.

I would advise that you take mosquito repellant with you as there are mossies (due to the amazing greenery around the resort). The rooms have a bar fridge so you can buy supplies locally and keep them cold. There are TVs in the room but who would want to watch TV in a location like Samui. Directly in front of the resort (beach front) is Jetski hire and a range of other watersports. You can sit on the beach all day and eat the local food being prepared right there on the beach (don't be afraid to try as it is amazing). The girls will cut up a mango for you for 50Baht....

Samui is a must do destination and Long Beach Lodge (a well kept secret) is definatly worth a look. I will say though - if you are looking for 5 star comfort - Long Beach is not for you - you will have to look further afield and pay handsomely for it!!!!

We stayed over the new year. Accommodations are nice and clean. Sleep is a challenge as the club down the beach thumps bass dance music until anywhere from 1:00-4:00 am. We stayed near the back so can't imagine what it sounds like from the front units. Love the beach and the BBQ chicken, rice and papaya salad ladies are to die for. Could eat every lunch right on the beach.

Its not flash, or gucci. Simple and old world. 2 rows of bungalows along a dirt track, cheaper rooms at the back of he resort rooms, increasing in quality and price as you get nearer the beach!!!
Great service, friendly staff. Breakfast simple but tasty. Good food in the restaurant.
Rooms comfortable, nice bathrooms.
Right on the beach, and a shady tree to snooze under!
Good choice of bars, shops and restaurants just a few minutes walk outside the hotel!
Lovely little hotel!! Like going back in time.

Never had I experienced racism, rudeness and insult worse than what happened to me when I visited this place in March 2016.

I came to Ko Samui with Sapphire Princess and took an escorted group tour provided by Sapphire Princess (run by a local tour operator) to go to Chaweng Beach. All passengers were given stickers on the shirts for easy identification.

When we arrived in the town, the tour operator directed us to use the walkway at Long Beach Lodge to go to Chaweng Beach. Besides visiting the beach, my husband and I planned to have lunch at this hotel.

We walked behind many other Sapphire Princess passengers toward the walkway and had to pass a boom gate guarded by a security guard. When we approached the boom gate the security guard lowered the gate, raised his right hand menacingly to stop us, and shouted at us: "No! Private property!" While we saw a few moments before other Sapphire Princess passengers were let through the boom gate. I pointed at my sticker and said that I was with the same group that was just let through. The security guard didn't care and kept shouting "No! Private property!"

Later on we realized that only Non-Westerners were refused entry.

We reported this incident to the tour operator. They apologized but couldn't persuade the security guard to let us through, because it's the hotel policy. Firstly they said because we look Chinese and Chinese are dirty. But later on we found out that a Malay woman wearing hijab was also refused entry.

We also reported this incident to Sapphire Princess and they gave us 50% refund for this horrible encounter.

We will never go back to Ko Samui.

We will never go back to Chaweng Beach (my beach at home, Cottesloe Beach in Perth, Western Australia, is much more beautiful, much cleaner, and much more friendly than Chaweng Beach).
We will definitely never stay or eat at Long Beach Lodge.

Beware of Long Beach Lodge.
They are racist, rude and insulting.

Have stayed at many hotels along Chaweng Beach, but this one really hit the spot.
We found the hotel during a chance turning on our last visit, had a looked round and feel in love.

It's not an overly fancy hotel. There is no pool, no pool bar, no fancy restaurant, no fancy bar. But it has an old world charm that many are lookiing for but is so missing from so many of the hotels. Right by the beach and the sea.

There is a huge range of rooms from small rooms set back through to beach front bungalows with their own sunbeds.

The restaurant does nice meals and snacks. Breakfast [included] is a nice enough - again no large buffet but tasty and enough!
Clean and tidy, daily maid service. Water in the room, fridges, coffee making, beach towels. Comfortable bed, hot water and the toilet flushes every time.

All staff are happy and friendly.

Well located, and a short stroll to Chaweng.

A time capsule gem indeed!

The downside is that until 2am you can hear the noise from the Ark Bar base. It stops at 2am every night. Not an issue to us, but can be for some.

We stayed here for one night only, because of the uncomfortable bed and the amount of mosquitos in our room. The outside of the hotel is absolutely beautiful and scenic, but the actual rooms are super old, with outdated furniture. The bathroom is a bit gross, needs some serious deep cleaning and the water gets everywhere after taking a shower. When walking to the room at night, beware and use a flashlight. There were a lot of critters walking around. We saw giant nasty cockroaches and I almost stepped on a frog. The frogs are massive, I have never seen any that size! In the morning we saw squirrels and beautiful butterflies. The staff is very friendly and polite and the breakfast is average. What I did like about the breakfast is that it is not buffet style like many hotels, everything is made to order. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, but the rooms do need some improvements.

We have been going to long beach lodge for 25 yrs , same owners and same warm hospitality. Accommadation very basic , but a great part of the beach . We stayed in bungalow 1 with extended balcony and outdoor shower . Again it was amazing but bungalow inside very dated and in need of renovation. Food was lovely and reasonable prices . I will be going back.

We needed to find a place on Chaweng beach with the right budget / location and service. Long Beach Lodge comes up at last minute random while walking on the beach / street. Not cheap.... 2,300THB a night right at the beginning of the low season.
We gave it a go...and it was ok - just. We probably could have found better but couldn't bother with the heat and walk with two young children.

Beach is good, the location is great, Staff members are good and just polite. Luckily, I can speak Thai which is very helpful..

This lodge is a bit run down...they probably renovating it if you notice the building site in the middle of the alley. There is NO pool...which didn't help us.
Breakfast was confusing but OK - not much choice. Coffee not terrible..

In the room, strict minimum... no kettle or whatsoever. Bungalows / Huts are nice and clean. Spacious enough for 2 adults and 2 young kids. Wi-Fi OK but they give you the code on a tiny piece of paper...

Overall, it was OK just for one night. No fuss. No picky. We walked further down to continue our stay in Samui.

First We stayed at the hotel at the different beach but we wanted to explore. So we decided to go to the Long Beach Lodge hotel restaurant. We did not sit at the restaurant instead we sat at the beach so we can have our eyes on the kids while they swim and we ordered food from them. One of the guard by the name "Winai" said to us that " we are not hotel guests therefore we can not walk through here". He acts like we are thieves or something. And when we were leaving, walking out of the hotel he was actually chasing us out. I personally felt so unwelcome here at all. I guess I was not a hotel guest even if I just go for dinner! I have never felt unwelcome anywhere but here! Worst first impression ever! My next trip to Samui Long Beach Lodge will NOT be on my list to stay!

Hi, not going by a different or new name, you just don't find it on the booking websites. What detailed information are you looking for? Got to their website the prices and detailed information, just google longbeachlodgesamui and go to the rates / reservations page and email them if you want to book, they are very quick at responding!. If going in the quieter seasons, like Oct, they can offer a cheaper rate You can also find long beach lodge samui on facebook.
