This being my first time back to Koh Samui since Covid restricted travel I was unsure how much the tourism industry might have been impacted.
However, despite it being quieter than in the past it was still great to be back. I stayed at the Amari Koh Samui and I cannot fault the hotel. A great location - quiet but within easy walking distance to the Hussle and bustle. Great pools and access to beach - lots of loungers - it was not an issue to secure one.
I stayed on the Garden Wing across the road from main reception - although you had to cross a road to get to main part of hotel, the crossing was always manned by the security staff enabling people to cross safely. The room was very spacious (pool view) and very relaxing to sit on the balcony in the evenings.
Breakfast had lots of choice and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Had dinner and drinks in Prego's on two occasions and would recommend. The staff there, in particular Nok and Karen were very welcoming.
Definitely recommend a stay at the Amari Koh Samui - staff and location are great.

Having stayed at Amari many times over the past 16 years, it was great to spend time staying there again this and last month.

Amari Koh Samui is extremely central. It offers a great location right on a beach with soft, white sand, and it's a short walk to many beach restaurants & bars, and shops/massage shops/restaurants along the street. Hotel airport transfers are very good value and taxis can always be arranged quickly by the hotel in moments too.

Check in/out was very efficient and the hotel is literally five minutes drive from the airport, which is always a delight after a long international flight or two.

The resort offers good value, especially with their spa promotions and happy hours offered by the pool multiple times per day. The gym is good, and the breakfast offers lots of choice.

The room I had was a family duplex, and like the pool view rooms, offered a nice pool view setting in the Thai village area of the resort. Everything worked well and the housekeeping did a fantastic job.

Those with kids would appreciate the resort has two large pools, and a kids playroom with air-conditioning.

Prego Restaurant is a highlight at Amari Samui, offering consistently good Italian food and the most amazing, consistent service. Whether you feel like a good coffee in the morning, or even a take away, or delicious pizza/pasta for lunch or dinner, or a pre dinner drink and snack at the bar, it's always fast, delicious and good value. Within a short walk, The Tent at Sala Chaweng next door, or The Library further along the same beach, were favourites.

I'd absolutely stay here again/recommend Amari, for those after a good value, beachfront hotel that's really central on Koh Samui. All of the team were especially friendly and helpful and you instantly feel relaxed - seeing the sea on check in and continuing from there!

This hotel is very nice, the location is great and the staff really make this hotel. They really are very friendly and welcoming.
The grounds are very well kept, with lovely flowers and garden areas. It's very quiet and you feel a million miles away from the noisy bustling main road. However all the bars and restaurants are within walking distance.
We were originally booked into one of the Garden Rooms (I suppose the most basic bog standard room). If you can, I would 100% recommend upgrading. This room felt very basic and wasn't quite the luxury we had hoped for, for the price. The towels were ripped, the room looked tired like it could do with some refurbishment and on 2 occasions the air con stopped working and we had to call reception who sent maintenance out. On day 3 we upgraded to one of the bungalows, it was beautiful, so spacious with a view of the pool area. There were two bathrooms, one of which had an enormous bath. Upgrading rooms really made all the difference to our trip.
The breakfasts are nice, there is plenty of choice and you can sit outside and enjoy your breakfast with a view of the pool and beach.
I had a massage in the spa which was really good, the prices were very reasonable as I compared to several spa places in the area.
Overall this hotel is very good, however some rooms looked a bit tired. Great location, nice food, absolutely lovely staff.
We had a nose around at some of the other hotels in the area and this one definitely looked like one of the best.
Also - the Italian restaurant Prego, which is part of the hotel is delicious, we went twice as the food really was great.

We stayed here for a week in February as a family and of three.

This was our second visit to the hotel and our 3rd stay with Amari and I’m sad to say the last.

The hotel its self has been refurbished since our last visit moving the gym over to the beach side and also squeezing numerous extra rooms on the garden side in.

While the resort it self remains very nice the staff unfortunately have in the main lost there sparkle and are very much just going through the motions almost forgetting they are supposed to be providing an experience

Upon checkin the room we were allocated was at the very far end of the resort quite a distance from anything. We paid a not unsubstantial amount to upgrade to a better room on the Ocean side of the resort only to have a connecting door with another room who’s guest made are stay a misery. The noise traveling through the walls/door was as if they were having a party in our room. Loud music, swearing, glasses being smashed door bring slammed early into the morning hours keeping us all awake we reported the issue along with the upsetting experience of a member of staff being very rude to my partner for taking a banana from breakfast for our three year old daughter to the management but nothing apart from some Macaroons left in the room was done.

As the hotel has increased the number of rooms on the garden side there is insufficient sun-beds available for everyone so people unfortunately reserve them first thing in the morning.

We left Amari Koh Samiu feeling very underwhelmed as our past experiences with the group had been fantastic.

Dear Maydavid1234, We thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Amari Koh Samui. It is disappointing to learn that we were not able to meet your expectations and we apologize for the inconveniences you experienced. It is very unusual for to receive such feedback and even more so concerning thereby. We understand that your stay was not to your expectations and would like to make amends. We are sorry to hear about your interaction with our staff, particularly in regards with the breakfast, and of your issues with your initial room. As well, we are dismayed to hear about what transpired with your second room and regret to have not been able to resolve the situation to your liking. We can assure you that proper care will be taken in resolving all the issues that you have raised. Great care has always been emphasized by Amari to provide the best guest experience and your feedback will help us ensure the quality of both our product and standards of service. I reckon this is the nicest hotel on the island. It looks super fancy on the photos, and it is, but it’s also modest in scale so feels quite personal.

It’s based either side of the main road (as is everything in koh samui) but there’s a security guard 24/7 whose job it is to stop traffic so your kids can go between sites without worry.

The beach side half has a big shallow pool (3ft) and a kids super shallow pool (separated from the other pool by a tall set of vertical bars). There’s a ping pong table and a pool table which you can generally get use of, depending on the time of day. There’s always enough loungers. The hotel provides towels so there’s less of the bs bagging of loungers (if that’s you, stop it!).

The food serving area is this side too and we have breakfast included (served up to 1030) and that is well worth it. Huge array of fruit, cooked breakfast, cereals, pastries, thai noodles, Indian curries, even crumble. As a result we often skipped lunch.

I’m not sure I’d have gone for all inclusive. Drinks are expensive (uk high street price) but I think the repetitiveness at dinner would be too much. Also, there’s a family mart selling drinks literally two doors down the road so you can bring your own. Nobody seems to mind and I think it’s fair enough if you order an occasional cocktail or pizza.

The beach is clean but, as seems to be the case everywhere, the water is shallow and pretty much without fish. Lovely day and night life on the beach - masseurs, calm hawkers selling trinkets and clothes, beach bars with amazing fire shows, beach restaurants.

The other side of the street half is where we stayed. Really lovely accommodation with good air conditioning and powerful shower. The pool this side is deeper 4.5ft but still With the same baby pool with the bars. This pool is a bit shadier and calmer. There’s also a friendly cat that wanders about.

Location is great - you are five minutes walk from the main drag so you can partake but not kept awake by it.

Thailand is still cheap for brits - it’s easy to find beers for £2, and easy to have a meal for less than £10. You could go as low as £4 a meal but that will limit your options.

Enjoyed a fabulous week in the Thai Village section of the hotel - the rooms and gardens were immaculate, the breakfast was great and the location of the hotel was ideal. Highly recommend eating dinner at restaurants along the beach where the hotel is situated - much more pleasant (and less smelly) than eating along the road / in town. Hotel staff were very friendly.

stayed at this hotel for 11nights, and it was excellent! great location near to everything you would want but far enough for peace and quiet. stayed in the village side and it is so peaceful' as a pool which isn't as busy as the beach side pool not that it was so busy there!! the rooms are spotless and have all you will need, the buffet breakfast is very good and also what you would need. the beach is so beautiful and the sand so soft' we used the massage on the beach next to the hotel and it was excellent £7.50 for a hour massage. the grounds of the hotel are kept in excellent condition by the hard working gardeners! the trips you can book through the hotel are all at a very reasonable price' we did 3 and enjoyed them all. would recommend this hotel and return at a heart beat.

Quite a charming hotel with delightful staff situated on a beautiful beach. Breakfast plentiful and varied and rooms/ bathrooms large ( housekeeping a little bit and miss- I asked could they please sweep the floors because sand on floors was a problem. Replacement of tea/coffee and smaller towels was also inconsistent.)
Seafood buffets were lovely with tables set up near pool and a good music duo. Lunches and dinners were excellent value however the drinks were expensive and the cocktails were really fruit juice with nothing much else. Wine servings are also fairly small. I was surprised that no staff attended the pool and beach areas for drinks orders.
Unfortunately however there are not enough umbrellas or lounges around pool or on beach and it appears guests head down early “reserving” lounges all day with a towel and book, leaving no pool or beach enjoyment for others. This is not really dealt with by the staff so effectively we had to find two chairs up near reception to sit all day! A little disappointing.
Overall this is mainly a holiday destination for families so perhaps not ideal for romantic couples.
Overall very pleasant though and an easy walk to shops and restaurants.

Great place for a quiet holiday. Within walking distance to the market centre.
The Hotel has three wings, Sea view, Thai Village and Garden. Enough open spaces and noise-free . There's a private beach, two swimming pools and a small one for kids; ample beach beds, and a restaurant with an enormous breakfast !
The Staff is very polite, helpful and attentive. Miss Nueng at the front desk ensured our room was specially set up for my birthday and surprised me with a complementary cake .
The airport is a 10 minute drive; taxis are available at pre-decided rates and provision stores, chemists and a hospital are very close by.
There's everything to recommend Amari on Chaweng Beach for a lovely holiday in Koh Samui.

We have just booked The Armari, Koh Samui, for our 9th consecutive visit, need we say more! We always look forward to the immaculate gardens and swimming pool area’s which give a sense of luxury.
The staff are always considerate to our needs, all completed with a pleasant smile.
The location of the Armari is in the better part of the Chewang beach, with a wide stretch of palm lined sand and shallow sloping clear waters. It is in fact, the perfect holiday destination.
