My friend and I stayed here for the week. First a downside. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone who is slightly infirm; breakfast is served at the lowest level of the hotel and there are quite a few steep steps to negotiate although rooms ARE available at that level.
All the rest is positive: rooms are very large as are the "wet room" shower/ bathroom - my room could EASILY have accommodated five people. Rooms were cleaned every day and were spotless. Breakfast was buffet and excellent. Hotel is on two levels both sides of the road. When we were in residence we had the top swimming pool virtually to ourselves nearly every day.
But the main selling point of this lovely hotel were the staff: from the friendly. funny and informative Canadian head of customer services Rick Cousins, the helpful and courteous staff on reception to the security patrolmen who shepherded us across the road, I have NEVER encountered in all my travels, more pleasant and genuine people.
If you are staying at Koh Sumoi at Chaweng Beach I highly recommend this hotel.

Loved arriving here after a difficult & delayed flight from Singapore. After checking in which was smooth we still had time for breakfast.
We were greeted by the lovely Mai who has the most beautiful smile. She is very friendly and made us feel welcome. Mai explained the breakfast & showed us to our table. Breakfast is plentiful with something for everyone. Fruit, salads, muffins, varieties of bread, juice, water, milk, coffee, tea, hot food, cereal , pancakes, and an egg station. Oh and a different iced tea every day.
Our room was a beach side room and very spacious. The bed was king size, extremely comfortable and lovely pillows. The bathroom was a generous size also.
The beachside pool is lovely. It could be improved with some more umbrellas and better pool chairs. If you want a pool lounge with an umbrella claim it early as they are taken quite early. Even when people leave the area they leave their items there.
The resort is right on the beach so if you want to walk on the beach, eat at other cafes, restaurants etc in the beach you are subject to the tides. Sometimes you have to walk through the water to get to them which is fine.
The hotel has a complimentary bus to go into Chaweng town but you need to make your own way back. It’s about a 20 minute walk.
There is a money changer not far from the resort, a chemist and a mini mart.
Beach hawkers carry their wares along the beach to sell to you.
We found the resort extremely relaxing and had a fantastic time.
I’d particularly like to thank Mai for always being helpful, friendly and smiling.

I loved the room, even though it was across the road from the main building. The size of the room and bathroom were both very big. It was literally a bathROOM!

My husband had secretly told the hotel that we were there for a special celebration. When we were brought to the room, I was extremely surprised by the flowers and foliage used to create a romantic ambience. Then a few minutes later, we heard a knock on our door. It was one of the hotel staff with a complimentary chocolate cake. It was a delightful welcome!

We were definitely impressed with the quality of service at the resort, but especially of Pat’s, from the Beach Bar and Restaurant. We met her when we went for our welcome drinks. She guessed that we were the couple who were at Novotel for a special celebration. She said she knew of us from the staff group chat. She asked for our names and addressed us personally even on subsequent visits to the restaurant. It was very nice to know that the hotel works as a team in making their guests have unique experiences. We’ll definitely stay here again!

We booked through luxury escapes with the junior suite upgrade, as part of the grand reopening package, this gave us massage’s and an extra meal every day.
The Positives:- our room was enormous with terrace that overlooked the sea, it was nice to wake up to sounds of lapping waves.
The whole hotel has had a partial make over and a coat of paint, the gardens and water features are excellent, the pool is clean, maintained and a nice size.
The massage team were very polite, professional and not pushy. Their massages are not expensive and seem to price match going further down the beach.
The Neutrals:-
The refurbishment is cosmetic, the electrical switches are old and yellowed, there’s no usb sockets next to the bed. There seems to be a reluctance in giving you enough towels for your room, 1 small bath towel and a flannel per person, they also provide you pool towels.
Breakfast was okay, it’s a buffet service with a European selection and Thai selection, the sliced break was just suitable for toast as the crusts and edges dry out quickly. Rita who served coffee in the morning was shining example as was the chef who did a range of egg’s every morning, they both remembered our daily orders. A point of frustration for us was we didn’t find a single fork or knife that wasn’t bent. I guess the refurb’ budget didn’t go that far. The coffee was variable from okay to very bitter. Some of the table staff seem more interested in chatting amongst themselves rather clearing tables.
The pool furniture is tired and in places dirty with bird droppings, the staff seem reluctant to clear used glasses.
The included meals on our package were okay, not exciting, the quantity varied, but usually well presented. We ended up going out to a restaurant next to the hotel, which was excellent and great value.
To swim in the sea is tide dependent, at high tide the waves come right up to and crash into the property wall and it’s impossible and unsafe to enter and walk down the beach. When the tide is out, there’s quite a lot of litter on the shore edge, which you have cross to get into sea.
Another thing to consider, there are facilities for the disabled. There are no lifts, ramps toilets etc, but loads of stairs, it’s a bit of a drag going to reception to get you key card reprogrammed when it fails. If you’re unsteady on your feet give this place a wide berth.
The location is about 15-20 mins or 200tb into town. Chewang beach is very lively in the evening, there is something for absolutely everyone there!
There’s also a western style shopping mall and a great food court.
Finally what really grated us, there’s a price list of items in our room should we break something or decide to take something. This sits really uncomfortable with us.
They know the price of everything but the cost of nothing
We’re happy to be moving on after 7 nights. We wouldn’t come back here and feel uncomfortable recommending it. However we’d certainly come back to Koh Samui

Fabulous hotel, given room close to grandparents and our family room was amazing. Across road from main building bags delivered up to room and short walk to pool, breakfast or across road to other pool and restaurant. Staff VERY friendly and helpful. Close enough to Chaweng to be close to action and loud activities but far enough away at night to be on holiday unaffected by late Party goers! Loved this hotel. Get a scooter or car to get around or use free transport multiple times daily into Chaweng.

We went with family and parents to Novotel Chaweng for 15 nights holiday. Think the hotel is fine (we stayed in family room delux) on the beach front side. Large airy rooms with good functioning AC.

However, we had booked 2 adults and 2 children in the same room. but there was only one extra bed and 3 quilts. This resulted in the mother and two children sleeping in the double bed and partly the duvet, and the father in the extra bed.

Little strange then We were filling in the children's age in the booking. Same with the towels on the toilet, we got three new ones every day though we were four.

I booked via internet with paymen on spot, (money was withdrawn after a week) and I had to contact the hotel and point this out (it worked out well though).

Otherwise, the room was very clean every day. The breakfast was very good and there is everything from donuts, pancakes, bread, yogurt, fruit, bacon, sausage, omelette etc etc to choose from. May and her colleagues in the restaurant were really nice and really good with our kids. Big plus to them. Also all other staff were very nice and helpful to us.

The pool area is really nice and the service high, clean nice towels and a massage place with really nice staff who did wonders with the body.

The only minus was really that during our stay there was high tide and there is really no beach to go down on. And that the high tide pulled in a lot of plastic and debris that is purged in the afternoon when the water recedes. There could have been some info about it, when we with kids had to try to walk on the street on the non-existent sidewalks up the hill and away, about 3-4 hotels in the morning to take us down to the beach. That's a big minus.

But overall we think it was a good hotel with nice and good staff. Good food in the restaurant and really good breakfast. Large rooms with good storage.

Big plus to May and her colleagues !!!

The beach we have had higher than usual tides, usually at this time of the year they are receding and we get a good expanse of beach. We look forward to seeing you again soon Thanks Jon General Manager

We stayed at Beyond Samui for a week in October 2023 as a family of 4 (2 adults, 15 and 13 year old).
The biggest influence on such an amazing holiday and what we need to mention first were the absolutely incredible staff! They were professional, caring, skilled, friendly and so so welcoming. They went well and truly above and "beyond" to make our stay so wonderful.

In the restaurant we need to make mention of Aor, Rita, Adi and Nam. We miss them all already! So much care, friendliness and attention from these exceptional waiters and waitresses. Adi, your smile and laugh were infectious and we had so much fun thank you. Aor, you knew our meal preferences inside out by the time we left and accommodated my gluten free needs so well going out of your way to arrange thank you. Rita, likewise you aced all aspects of restaurant service.
In the Kitchen, Nguyen what a star! You and your assistant chef (unfortunately we didn't get her name) personalised our meals to our preferences (vegetarian etc) with ease and no hassle at all. We loved the food and praise your awesome efforts in the kitchen.

The biggest surprises came on the morning of our daughters birthday (which we hadn't mentioned to any of the staff prior). From the surprise Mickey Mouse pancake cake at breakfast along with balloons, decorations and a song from all the restaurant and kitchen staff at our table...we were humbled and blown away. The exceptional house keeping staff had gone out of their way to fold towels into a "towel cake" on her bed with flowers and towel bunnies around it. So cute and amazingly thoughtful.

Next to mention were the front reception superstars. From the moment we arrived to our departure we felt completely looked after. Baimon, from your beautiful smile to your local knowledge you made us feel so welcome and greeted us each time with such friendliness. Koy and Jane you were likewise wonderful reception staff and we thank you for your great work. Driver Thu you do an awesome job.

The resort itself we loved. The location right on the water was idyllic, with an easy stroll to restaurants and the main centre of Chaweng along either the beachfront or road. Enjoying an evening drink at the bar/restaurant overlooking the bay just magical. The rooms were great along with the pool and massages.

Overall we would highly recommend Beyond Samui for a wonderful getaway and can't emphasise enough how influential the staff were in making our experience so positive. They truly are such incredible, invaluable assets to this resort and the Beyond chain of hotels.

Comfortable hotel with great facilities. Nick and Patrick at reception were brilliant, always ensuring that we were catered for and making us feel more than welcome. All staff were very friendly.
Great breakfast every morning and reasonable happy hour prices for the odd beer or cocktail throughout the day.
Only gripe was that the fridge struggled to keep drinks etc... cool. Could be time for a bit of an upgrade?

The resort is lovely, but what really makes your stay is the staff. The staff is amazing, they are very kind and always happy to help. Rita, the Restaurant Manager, is lovely and very professional. Baimon, at Reception, is very kind and welcoming. The staff made arrangements for us to have a shower before we left (6 hours after the check out time) and made sure we were comfortable until the very last minute.
The pool is incredible, very clean and big enough to have a a proper swim.
The room was a bit smelly sometimes but it was properly cleaned every day. The food was not very good. The menu was limited and the quality of the food was average. The breakfast options were also limited and they should add a proper coffee machine to improve the experience. The resort can do much better in this regards because it has great potential.
The massages are incredible! very recommendable.
I would recommend to stay here, mainly because the staff is fantastic! we are very grateful. Thanks!

Dear Sir and Madam, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. If you give us a chance to earn back your trust, I can assure you that we will do our best to give you the great hotel experience that so many of our guests have grown so fond of. Hi. The whole hotel is quiet in the night. We lived in beach front family room. No noise from the street etc. It is only around 10 min walk on the beach or sling the road to the "centrum" It us nice to live outside the noisy area if you ask me.
