This residence with harmonious proportions and beautiful luminosity owes its name to its slate roof, characteristic to the Soule province. The House anchors near the gates of ramparts of the so picturesque town of Saint Jean Pied de Port, mythical stopping place of the pilgrims of Santiago de Compostela (Saint Jacques de Compostelle). From there, within a radius of one hour, you can discover the Basque Coast, make a Spanish escapade or say Hello to the South Peak of Ossau (Pic du Midi d'Ossau). From the entrance, heart of the house, to the pink sandstone paving, flies away the staircase towards rooms. In the early hours, your shutters will open on the garden or on the slopes of the Arradoy covered with the vineyards on Irouleguy. Chestnut wooden floor, whitewash, river shingle walls contribute to a feeling of serene sobriety. In the book corner with patina woodwork, hearts and stars radiate in marquetry, delicate symbol of well being. The big oak table calls for the sharing of a seasonal tasty and simple cuisine. For your hostess, Ziberoa is a story of love at first sight when dicovering EUSKARA's landcapes and culture. They are waiting for you for a day time or for a full life.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed two nights at Maison Ziberoa while I was recovering from jet lag and getting ready to start my walk on the Camino De Santiago. Marie was a wonderful hostess and provided an excellent breakfast. When I had some luggage and package delivery issues, she was right there helping me solve the problem. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed one night here before setting off on the Camino Way. We could not have chosen a better accommodation to start our journey. The house is beautifully furnished with a stunning garden. The owner gives you a warm welcome and also cooked the most delicious evening meal. We also had a great breakfast and packed lunch. The location is perfect and the ambiance is like home from home. Highly recommend

Maison Ziberoa was a last minute find for an overnight stay in July 2019. It stands atop a hill away from the crowd and yet readily accessible to most sites in town. It is charming and immaculately clean. We had a spacious bedroom and bathroom. It is reasonably priced. Marie Josee, the owner, is an independent and multi-talented lady who runs the B&B on her own. She speaks fluent English. From her garden, which she tends to with loving hands, she reaps some of the delicious fruits that she makes into bottled jams. We were fortunate to have some of these jams for breakfast along with fresh bread. The atmosphere exudes tranquility which is almost meditative with classical music floating in the air. If you drive, parking is readily available with no extra charge. I would recommend this B&B for its overall quality of great service, food, and living abode. Thank you, Marie Josee. You were very accommodating and made us feel welcomed. I wish you all the best in your endeavors Marie Josee! Sylvia H.

We stayed one night after completing the Via Podiensis walk from Le Puy to Saint Jean in France the usual starting point for the Camino Francais pilgrim walk to Santiago in Spain. It is a B&B very close to the centre of town. It is more upmarket than most of the Gites (hostels) on the Via walk and is a great reward for walking so far. It is a stylish B&B in terms of the external Basque design, generous rooms, decor, excellent breakfast, the lovely gardens, and most importantly the extremely helpful hostess who speaks very good English. I would happily stay there again.

What a beautiful retreat from a busy world! Marie-Josée welcomed us to her B and B, a large home with private rooms and ensuite bathroom, on a large lot just a half block from the gate Into St-Jean-Pied-de-Port. She has a lovely, well-tended garden to sit in and has homemade jams from her persimmon tree for breakfast. Marie-Josée speaks English perfectly, and spent quality time with us sharing her maps so we could experience a beautiful hike in the mountains, as well as details about the town. What a wonderful experience—I cannot wait to return! August 2018

This old typical house has been superbly remodeled and the owner is so welcoming!!! It is ideally located just near the gates to the entrance of the old city. Breakfast is awesome with lot of local products and home-made jams, and we also enjoyed a dinner with Basque specialties.

We stayed with Marie for one night prior to commencing the Camino de Santiago. My wife was unable to walk the first day due to a muscle strain and Marie was most helpful in arranging for my wife to stay in the library during the day and for transport to Roncevalles in the afternoon. She also organized accommodation for us in Zubiri. The room was a good size and the bathroom was new. A delightful stay!

My friend and myself really enjoyed staying with Marie Josee in Maison Ziberoa. A beautiful charming old house, lovely rooms with crispy white linen. The views out on the Terresse and the lovely garden were very nice. Marie Josee made us so welcome, informing us about what to see in St Jean Pied de Port. All Marie’s guests ate breakfast together which was a real treat, and wow what a meal. Breakfast consisted of fresh fruit including local figs, wonderful sheep and goat yoghurt, muesli, and lovely breads - what more would a person want starting out on Camino. If you are thinking of taking a trip to St Jean pied de port consider staying in Maison Ziberoa, you won’t be disappointed

We spent 3 days at Maison Ziberoa, but wished we could stay longer! What a wonderful experience. Our room was spotless, and we enjoyed the fresh smelling sheets and lush towels. The house is very nicely renovated, with a huge dining room table that accommodates all the guests for a delicious breakfast. But our favorite spot was the terrasse, facing a peaceful garden. What made our stay unforgettable is the wonderful hospitality of the owner. She made us feel welcome in her house, was very friendly and understood exactly what we expected from our visit in Saint Jean Pied de Port. She gave us ideas ( and maps) for hiking in the region and suggested interesting places to visit. Thumbs up for this superb B&B !
