Pretty much faultless. Fantastic service (particularly from Manny and Jazz who were always friendly and attentive). Food was excellent, really good fitness centre with wide range of equipment, lovely pool area with swim up bar and sun lounger service. Accommodation was superb and we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a two bedroom pool villa - thank you Anantara, we are very grateful. If you are looking for lively nightlife then this isn't the place for you but if you want an oasis of peace and calm, don't hesitate.

This is the most beautiful resort in a location you can only dream about. The room we stayed in with the sea view is the best room I ever stayed in. I hesitate to even call it a room it's more like an apartment such as the size , Truly 5 star quality in every sense it even has a motorized curtain rail in the toilet , that is the standard that is set. The pool is simply stunning with stunning views to the sea they really thought about it. For me and my wife we both agreed it's the best beach we have ever been too just perfect so clean and so calm our little daughter loved it. Lastly this is all great but what is really outstanding is the staff whereby nothing is too much they are all smiley and very friendly a special mention to Boom the resort manager I can thank him enough for making our stay wonderful.

The overall service quality is poor and the restaurant food is not tasty. Professional training of employees is needed. Room condition is clean and good. Priced too high compared to expectations. Feels like external tourism is being forced.

I have been to other Anantara's before (both Koh samui, hua hin, lawana in Phuket etc) and this new property on Koh Yao Yai truly keeps in line, if not surpasses, the amazing anantara brand. We stayed for a week and everything was wonderful. As a titanium member we got an upgrade from a suite (which was already gorgeous) to a spectacular villa, the food was excellent, felt true tranquility and the staff were extremely warm, pleasant and ready to help. As this is a new property there are a few little niggles here and there but nothing that detracts from the overall experience. In particular, Khun Joe, Khun Kamnan and their team took care of us wonderfully. To breakdown: The rooms - truly excellent The pools - stunning The beach - fantastic The restaurants - delicious The following do not detract from an amazing stay but these are the areas I would recommend to be worked on: 1. Slightly understaffed & they're overworked. In particular the wait staff at the restaurant could use a little help as some times orders can take a while. 2. The App based communication is good but can be improved upon but in particular the TV based anantara system does more harm than good. The TVs don't have the power to run the app properly and it ends up taking more effort to connect a hdmi (Chromecast was impossible) than if nothing had been done at all. 3. There is too much mixing of families Vs couples. I do not think that kids should be in the main pool with the bar as they already have the pool by the family suites - if they are to be in the pool bar area then only at the top pool, especially when the spa pool is unable to be used and never in use. 4. It's anantara so it's expected but in general food/spa/transport etc is hideously overpriced. About 5x the usual cost. I know that there needs to be some mark up but some things are too much. Even so it's still a 9 or 10/10. Highly recommended

Unfortunately we experienced a poor service . Delay at the boat service. Complicated Check in , only getting the room after 6.30pm, people very confused and not showing enough commitment for simple tasks such as getting a coffee, we ordered a pizza at dinner, only after complaining more than one hour later they told us pizza was not available (8pm). Beautiful place but unfortunately we cannot recommend as you are never going to have a 5* experience, not well managed. People are sweet as all Thai people but unfortunately they don’t know what they are doing. Swimming pool difficult to access from some points of the surroundings. Beautiful beach.

Other reviews mentioned the staff. Found them all to be very nice and friendly. No problems there. While the property is new and beautiful and staff nice, the real problem here the prices charged for food are outrageous and you feel trapped in a hotel with little to do and poor food choices overall. Nearly $20 USD for Mac and cheese. More for a kids quesedilla. The food is bad, and prices absurd. Anywhere else in Thailand, and even the island, is less than 1/10th the price which makes you feel miserable here. This wouldn't be so much of an issue if you also didn't feel trapped in the hotel. There are a lot of great options on this beautiful island, but you literally feel like you can't leave the property. They have bikes, but won't let you take them off unless you pay 350 bhat more (what? Why!). And there's little indication of where to even get these from. The walk just to the gate is 15 minutes, and the another 10 up a large hill to the main road and another 10 to the nearest food. So in the middle of the heat, you literally cannot go anywhere, which is what makes you feel hostage. 1000 Thai Bhatt per hour per child for babysitting is also ludicrous. Again, anywhere else you are looking at 200 bhatt/per for a few kids. So once again, a 10x price of anywhere else in the country. I'd rather they charge a little bit more for the room up front and stop feeling so ripped you off everywhere else.

Dear Escape47744, Thanks for staying with us and sharing your feedback! We're thrilled you found our team friendly and wonderful. Regarding food and pricing, as a 5-star hotel, we follow strict food safety regulations and regularly review pricing to match our quality. Regret that we did not live up to your expectations this time on the Mac and Cheese. We will review and Chef will make it better. While we offer complimentary bicycles to all guests to enjoy within the resort. This includes children which in the past had the great idea to explore the island by them selfs without any parental control. We are also experience many bicycle beefing left on the island with guest returning by taxi, completely ignoring to return the bikes for others to use. Hence we must set some control in place to ensure both children, guests and bikes return safely. We also offer registered mountain bikes at a fee that can be used outside the resort after safety briefing to everyone aligned and can enjoy our beautiful island. Hope this explains more ; ) Exploring Koh Yao Yai is amazing and every guests should enjoy. This can be done by bike, car, taxi, or boat – we're here to arrange it all. Child safety is our priority; our trained team ensures the responsibility and quality care. We'll keep reviewing babysitting pricing for the right balance of quality, safety and price.. Looking forward to welcoming you back for another safe and relaxing stay. Warm regards, Patrik Ilstam General Manager Anantara Koh Yao Yai

The resort is so grand and beautiful, love the design and interior, surroundings by lush of greenery. We had a great time by just chilling and relaxing at the resort and beach. Love the Beach Restaurant's vibe, it was so cozy with the nice breeze, great foods and drinks. We stayed at the villa, it was so beautiful and spacious, nice big pool and bed was very comfortable. Well organized airport pick up and boat transfer, the biggest surprise was the Anantara Lounge at the jetty, it was so beautiful and comfortable, rest assured their guests were well pampered. Thank you Anantara Koh Yao Yai team for the great hospitality and memorable stay.

We stayed for 6 nights in January 24 in a deluxe sea view suite. The check in was quick and easy, although we were going to be charged £175 extra for no reason (quickly rectified though). Golf buggy tour around the resort before going to the room. The room was a great size, very big shower plus a bath and double sinks, bedroom area large and nice size balcony with comfy chairs. Nice first impressions. Breakfast was very good and sparkling wine was a good touch. Lunch and dinner options ok but prices were very high for what you’d expect. Bar drinks also had good choice, but again quite expensive. You have to book restaurants for dinner the day before, if you don’t and they’re fully you’re stuck with room service or the buffet (which we didn’t enjoy so much). Beach area nice and clean, but water isn’t clear (if that what you prefer), it’s Sandy but muddy as you go further out - not the hotels fault but worth knowing. Pool area good and nice size pool, but they need more sunbeds - they were all taken by 9/10am and some of the sunbed very uncomfy and are half size - they need different style sunbeds for sure. Pool towel service very good, plenty available and able to change as and when you want. Pool toilets need hand dryers or hand towels made available - nothing to dry hands on currently. Hotel do offer excursions but prices are extortionate - would suggest walk down the road and book outside hotel for much cheaper for the same trip. Also recommended funky monkey to eat outside of the hotel if you fancy a change. Speaker system in room needs locking down as you can access all speakers once you’re connected. Staff were all friendly but I don’t think quite 5* service yet - may be more staff are needed. Gardens very well kept, great job by gardening team. Overall it was a nice stay but many areas for improvement still considering the high price for Thailand.
