Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The dining room is completely unassuming and has a classic, simple and undefinable but reassuring 1980s, 1990s, 2000s look to it. Service is polite and courteous in a traditional way, neither fancy nor dull, if a bit detached. The menu itself was relatively varied and appetising, and we were not disappointed: oysters were fresh and juicy, seafood well prepared and tasty. Overall a very nice dinner option in an attractive area.

We booked in for dinner as non residents. The staff were attentive and well presented. The menu provides a good range with a good selection of sea food. Everything we ordered was excellent, the service was very good.

A disclaimer. The Achill Cliff House is unfortunately not listed among the restaurants. We did not stay there but did have dinner, and such a wonderful dinner! We indulged in food and drink from appetizers to dessert and everything was superb. I had salmon, my daughter surf and turf, son-in-law shrimp. Experienced delicious banoffee pie for the first time. Servixe was impeccable and we were happy to find we could drop in without a reservation. Great Achill hospitality!

For those of you with a keen eye, you will see I wrote a review a number of years ago, when we came to do the 10k at Achill, but while I didn’t make the race, I did volunteer to help out. Well, post COVID, we came back and this time we did the run….and brought my brother along to be “volunteered” to support. Once again, the ladies at this wonderful hotel, made us feel like old friends, with their genuine warm welcomes. If you want a hotel with all mod cons, gym, swimming pools and decor that could be anyway, then you’ve checked into the wrong place. If you want to be looked after by people who care about their guests and not simply doing their job, then this is the place to be. Many hotel staff will wish you “Have a nice day” as that’s the protocol, its what the training manual says, but here, the “Thanks a million” you get, is spoke from the heart. The wonderful staff from Theresa, Katie and Julie, to all the other ladies there, really do take time out to ask about you and show real interest in what your day has been like. A wonderfully run hotel in a wonderful part of a wonderful country. If you want to be looked after, Achill Cliff House Hotel will be hard to beat. Already planning our 2023 trip back to Achill and Cliff House Hotel will be our No1 stop over.

We visited the restaurant on a Monday night, when most of the other eateries in the village were close. We were served by a (very) young lady who was friendly and polite. The set menu is very limited … I chose prawns to start and salmon for main. The prawn sauce was infused with brandy, which was a first for me; it added depth to dish. The salmon was a bit overdone but was nice enough. It’s €30 for 2courses or €35 for 3 courses, which is a bit steep really for a fairly plain meal in my opinion.

We stayed here for the weekend and could not have been treated any better! Theresa and her staff are incredible! Fresh local oysters and fish, food to die for. The room was spotless, the welcome was just fantastic. So much so that we have booked again for next year. The food in Achill Cliff is definitely the best on the island in my opinion. Great location, great food, great staff, resulted in an exceptional weekend!

A big thank you to Teresa and all who made our stay such a pleasurable experience. There was a large group of us staying, all family and the resounding echo from all is "when are we going back"? Friendly clean and very welcoming. The food is just delicious, well worth a trip just for the food alone. We have already booked for next May, thanks all see you soon Regards Anne Carberry

Spent Easter weekend in this Hotel, what a great experience. The food was first class, from the breakfast to the evening meals. And the views while dining was something else. Our room also had a fantastic view out onto the beach and mountain. Very friendly staff, very reasonable, well worth a visit.
