First time staying at Ben View but a monthly visitor to the island . I have stayed in several hotels on the island . The accommodation and levels of comfort and relaxation offered by Paul and Lisa at Ben view, Sets a new standard which will be hard to beat. The room was spacious and comfortable with quality and up to date facilities in room . Shower was a quality shower with excellent pressure. The guest sitting room was extremely comfortable and welcoming where you could watch full sky Tv along with Sky in bedroom. A full cooked breakfast is available with good quality ingredients . This accommodation will not disappoint.

I have no idea what planet Jimmy B beamed in from but his review at best should be ignored!
To address his points:
Bathroom - perfectly adequate lighting in there had you simply bothered to use the switch! No major qualifications in observation needed to see the bath mats required .....and I'm short sighted! I can't think of many en-suites with windows either.
With regard to your dietry requirements.....why did you not contact Paul in advance of your visit to discuss these? Paul and Lisa are the mosst fabulous and accommodating hosts anyone could ever wish for and the breakfast, accommodation and welcome from them was as fabulous this year as it was last.
I have no clue what his expectations are but seriously.....his review is too far from the truth to be believed.
Best of all, they are a dog friendly couple which is even better!
Value for money?? 200%!

We have stayed in many B & B’s over the years and Benview is one of the best, we absolutely loved it! We were made to feel very welcome by Paul and Lisa, who really are the perfect hosts. They made us feel instantly at ease and it felt as though we were staying with friends, which is a rarity in our experience.
The property is located in a very peaceful location with easy access to some lovely beaches. Our room was well-appointed and very comfortable. We enjoyed relaxing in the guest lounge when we returned from dinner at the nearby Westford Inn (well worth a visit for their amazing fish and chips) and the “honesty bar” was a nice touch. Breakfast was delicious with the freshest of eggs from the numerous chickens that range freely in the yard.
Our only sadnesses were that we were limited to one night on the island and that the only thing that was out of Paul and Lisa’s control (the weather), was very uncooperative with extremely poor visibility. Still, this gives another reason to come back and next time it will be for longer.

Me and my partner booked this B&B. There was an offer for a cheaper rate with no option to cancel. We selected this as we knew we were going. However, we subsequently went to book the ferry (which was a week before) to find no availability. We appreciate we could have booked the ferry in advance but had no idea there would be no availability. When we contacted the B&B they offered no alternatives and just said we selected the non cancellation option. This must happen often as we have subsequently found that the ferry is booked weeks in advance in the busy season. I do feel the owner could have stated this on his website prior to us booking hence the reason I am giving this review.

My husband and I had one night at Benview and really wish we could have stayed longer! Gorgeous room with a fabulous view, surrounded by amazing wildlife … & we made friends with all the lovely animals at Benview too! The bed was the most comfortable we had anywhere in our travels & our super hosts had lovely touches with soft fluffy bathrobes & slippers too and a fantastic breakfast. Loved it here & we were made so welcome. We’re sure to go back!

We stayed in the Lodge, a wonderful self catering accommodation with a hot tub. What an amazing place to get away from it all and just relax. Wonderful welcome from Paul and Lisa who were just lovely hosts and gave us all sort of tips from walking routes to shops and eating places. Overlooking a loch but not far from a beach, and surrounded by “the girls” - the ever entertaining chickens who of course provided the fresh eggs in the very full welcome hamper. Uist is a rugged place of calm, and BenView lodge is just perfect. Highly recommend!

Stayed overnight with a friend. Lovely views from the window of our room, which was very clean and comfortable. We were given a nice selection of drinks, plus biscuits, slippers and bathrobes. There is a lounge area with lots of books, DVDs, games and a Wii to keep you entertained in the evening. The various animals (cats, dogs, chickens and ducks) add to the homely atmosphere.
Paul and Lisa were amazing hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was fantastic, with a good range of options which, considering there are only 2 bedrooms, was a good surprise.
Please don’t believe the one terrible review this place has had; the bathroom is not dark if you switch the light on, and there is a mat for use in the shower. And if you tell Paul and Lisa about any allergies and/or dietary requirements, they will do their best to accommodate you.
Paul and Lisa were amazing hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was fantastic, with a good range of options which, considering there are only 2 bedrooms, was a good surprise.

The property is unreachable by public transport and is an expensive taxi ride away, none of which is made clear when booking. When we asked the host for advice on how to reach the property he was rude and unhelpful and refused to offer a refund. Lots of other friendly Airbnb and hotel options around which are prepared to offer guests help and advice.

Enjoyed two lovely evenings here. Everything was perfect. The views from the bedroom window are lovely as is the sound of birdsong including a corncrake... We did eventually see one. Paul is an excellent host. The breakfast was great and set us up for the day. The hens, cat and dogs all add to the experience. The bedroom and bathroom were lovely with stunning views. One of the very few places that have BIG towels that you can wrap yourself up in but also a bath robe! Can't fault anything. BTW the bathroom was light and had a shower mat should you care to use one... Just in case you've read a terrible review. Would highly recommend this gem.

Get your Satnav on for this extremely remote, tiny, homely B&B (2 guest rooms) overlooking a small inland loch in super-flat North Uist. Well worth the short unmade up road to get here. Great value and a great welcome from the delightful Ben himself and his copious chickens. Spacious, comfortable, well-furnished bedroom with a large double bed and all the extras you could want. Bathroom was a bit tight, but made up for by good shower pressure and luxurious towels! Residents lounge with a huge TV was useful after a quick dinner. Nice breakfast with beautifully poached eggs from the chickens roaming outside.
