Langass Lodge is a former hunting lodge, more recently extended with additional bedrooms. From the outside, the building does not paint a fair picture of what lies inside. The building is remote – close to the Loch and a historic set of standing stones. After dinner a short walk brought us up close to a stag and some deer just down the road. We stayed three nights as a base to explore Uist. From the initial welcome, to the room (large and well equipped) through to the restaurant, this place feels very cosy but with a serious competence in the kitchen. We delighted in the spectacular range of seafood dishes – each one a masterclass of how to use good ingredients to best effect. One stand-out dish was langoustines, perfectly prepared and in enormous quantity! I have a minor gluten allergy and was delighted to see the majority of dishes on offer were tagged GF. When it came to desserts, I was not so fortunate, but the chef immediately offered two additional deserts – and the lemon posset I chose was spectacular. Each dish is individually prepared, so be ready for a leisurely dinner, but the wait is worthwhile. Breakfast was equally competent- the Scottish breakfast option was a perfect mix of elements – a lasting taste sensation. The staff are outstanding – personable and helpful. More of a country house atmosphere than a hotel. Not quite 5* grade, as its facilities are not that comprehensive, but a wonderful place to stay Overall it was somewhere we were sorry to leave.…
Wow, wow, wow! Langass Lodge excelled in every aspect. From the quirky decor, peace and quiet, attentive staff, warm, cosy rooms and excellent food this place ticks every box. There is even a loch side walk and a stone circle to visit. This is a real gem of a hotel in a stunning setting.
Lovely hotel in beautiful setting with a very warm welcome from the lady on reception who showed us around before taking us to our rooms. She also told us about the lovely walk out at the back of the hotel down to the standing stones which we enjoyed followed by a drink in the cosy bar. The rooms are very well appointed with a good choice of traditional soft interiors. Dinner was absolutely delicious and the best we had eaten while touring around the Outer Hebrides
The hotel is an old shooting lodge with a more modern extension situated in a beautiful location by the loch. Our room in the extension was quite large and very well appointed; the only downside was the very soft mattress that was not good for a back sufferer. The restaurant was absolutely the best we ate in during our week long stay in the Outer Hebrides - brilliant freshly prepared food from a shortish menu that changes daily to suit the best ingredients available. An eclectic wine list at amazingly low prices compared to other places we ate at. Breakfast was also excellent and plentiful. The service was what you would expect at a 4 or 5 star London hotel, overall excellent value for money - we wished we could have stayed for another night.
Visited Langass Lodge for an evening meal during a stay in the Western Isles. Friendly greeting. Excellent service - and a delicious meal. What more to ask for? Nothing. The quality of the kitchen brigade and the freshness of local produce made it an evening to remember.
