The Swan Motel is Under new ownership Myself Jon an Lisa took over The Swan in November 2015 Although the whole place underwent a complete refurbishment a couple of years ago we are always maintaining and improving the place as we go. We have 14 motel rooms all with their own en suite's accessible from our beautiful garden. We have two new chefs who have worked very hard to provide the best food we can at a very reasonable price, our Sunday carvery's are getting quite a reputation. So if you are looking for somewhere new to pop out to, come and see us you wont be disappointed (or hungry) Lunch 12pm to 230 pm, Supper 6pm to 9pm mon to Sat. Sunday carvery 12pm till 7pm. Be great to see you Jon & Lisa

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I booked three rooms for me night before picking up a boat for the week. What a fantastic find this place is and already booked for next year. We had a King Room, Twin and a Triple, all immaculate, spacious with comfy beds, free-Wi-Fi , free parking and overall just great rooms to stay in. It is a motel so rooms are not in the main building, however top, class. We had cooked breakfast (paid extra) and amazing value for a top quality breakfast with quality ingredients and a lovely waitress. All the staff here were really friendly and I would recommend to anyone. Didn’t use the bar or evening food but 8m pretty sure it will be great based on our breakfast. Thank you we have already booked rooms for August 2024.

The young lady teenager poured cold salad cream over our dinners of chicken and potatoes, none of us ask for salad creak over meals, we were not treated with respect I complained and we paid full cost of one meal only, however today we were not told to get out no longer welcome yet we’ve spend £19,000 at hotel in 2 years eating there, and till this time it’s been friendly.

Response from Jon Cobby, Owner at The Swan Motel
Responded 29 Aug 2023
This is quite simply not true. You have not spent any money over the last years. We had never seen you before the last time you came in when you called my waitress a racist name. We do not welcome back racists. You asked in a loud voice if she understood English!!!! She was born in halesworth!! In all my years I have never met such a rude person who also turns out to be a liar.

Beautiful motel, very clean nothing is too much trouble for manager and staff. Food was fabulous with generous portions. Comfy beds, up to date decor. Location wonderful for exploring both Suffolk & Norfolk. Walking distance from Beccles. Popular with travellers, and locals frequent the bar with pool table and darts.

Really lovely little bungalow type rooms, comfy beds. All surrounded by peaceful garden area. The food was mostly good (apart from a very bland and oily lasagne), very large portions, fish and chips were fresh and tasty. Unfortunately, the dining tables were dirty, very sticky and stained, we moved three times to find cleaner whilst waiting. One of drinks was served in a very dirty glass stained with bright pink lipstick. Strange set up for ordering, was asked to pick food choices half an hour before we went through from the pub area and sat down, but others arrived and were able to order whilst seated. A staff was asked for directions and she huffed and told us, "get someone else to tell you" Not the best customer service in that moment

Another great stay at The Swan. A huge thank you to Jon who really went that extra mile to find us a room when a comparison website had let me down. Friendly and welcoming staff who work very hard to serve and please. Lovely meal in the restaurant. Will be returning again. Thank you Jon. You saved the day during a very busy weekend.

Needed a night in a hotel just ahead of the Latitude Festival and came across the Swan Motel. What a little gem of a place. Room was a lovely size for two adults and two kids (separate beds). Pub was equipped with a large selection of drinks - including rhubarb cider - and had a jukebox, pool table, darts and a selection of detective books. All staff were lovely too. Would definitely go back.

I spent 4 nights with my dad in early June, having been here previously with my girlfriend the previous September. I really couldn't fault this motel, with the roo. Spotlessly clean, and regular changes of towels. The breakfast was fantastic and the evening meals were really large portions. I would definitely recommend this place, with its proximity to beccles and southwold. Looking forward to returning in the future.
