Last minute booking and so glad we did. Hotel is great, rooms amazing, staff so so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Totally got the handle on social distancing and being COVID compliant. Our room was perfect with great river view. We ate in the restaurant and food was amazing - well done chef. All freshly prepared, well presented and tasted wonderful. Breakfast was well planned, you simply choose what you want and it’s brought to you. We cannot fault anything. We do hope as the country moves into more lockdown, this hotel manages to survive as we so want to go back. Our only regret - we didn’t stay longer.

We have just spent 3 nights at the Waveney House Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is a very attractive Grade 1 listed property on the banks of the River Waveney. The location just couldn't be better and it must be wonderful to sit on the terrace in the warmer weather. Covid restrictions are very much in place and we felt perfectly safe during our stay. The young staff are a real asset too, always friendly and efficient, but still finding time for a little chat despite all the extra work currently needed. Room 7 on the first floor overlooks the river and it is a wonderful room, really a suite. There is so much storage. There are so many mirrors. There is lots of hanging space and the bathroom is huge with both a bath and a free standing shower. It was one of the best hotel rooms we have ever stayed in and made our little holiday special. It was so nice sitting on the sofa with a cuppa watching the boats, kayaks and occasional wild swimmer in the river. No room service at the moment but there was a very efficient method of requesting top ups via a plastic box left outside the room. We stayed on a half-board basis so ate dinner in the hotel on all three nights. We don't have huge appetites these days, so for us maybe this was not the right decision since the portions are quite large and we struggled to get through three courses every night. When booking it would be wise to see a copy of the menu first before signing up for this board basis at £73 per couple per night without drinks. We thought the price of wine and alcohol was quite fair however. If we could have wanted one extra thing to complete our stay it would have been a comfy area to sit and have a pre-dinner or post-dinner drink. The reception area does have some leather armchairs, but we found the atmosphere rather austere and without atmosphere. In the end we sat at our dining table and had a pre-dinner drink which wasn't particularly enjoyable or relaxing. It may well be that the extra space required for the one way system has taken up bar space. One little tip. We hired a day boat from a local family run company called Hippersons. Just Google their details. We had an excellent day.

Visited Waveney House Hotel yesterday. First time in several months. Had a lovely vegan lunch. So pleased to see several choices for vegans & also for my gluten intolerant friend! Looking forward to visiting again next month. Hoping I can manage the vegan sticky toffee pudding too next time 😋

Stayed for a few days in October. Although weather was awful hotel was perfect. Friendly staff, great processes on place for Covid. Assisted with a special surprise for my husbands birthday. We Really enjoyed ourselves. Hope to return again in the future.

Visited this restaurant again after what seems ages and was not disappointed we all had starters some had soup of the day and I opted for the cod fishcake all tasted amazing for main course we all opted for the lamb shank and were not disappointed as they were well cooked and very tasty. I cannot finish this review whitout mentioning the amazing staff at this restaurant especially our waiter who was attentive, friendly and helpful throughout our meal, I with I'd asked for his name as he made made our night more enjoyable. Will most definitely return to this place.
