Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Couldn't ask for a better place to stay. Loved EVERYTHING about it! Quaint, historic building, beautiful views, quick walk down the road to the High Street. Food was OUTSTANDING! It was one of the highlights of our trip.

Attended a wedding at Waveney House Hotel on 16 September and stayed overnight. The staff were so helpful, friendly and hard working - nothing was too much trouble. They are a real asset to the hotel. The venue was perfect and all wedding guests we spoke to were very complimentary of the venue, food and service.

Having just returned from spending four nights at the hotel , we can't thank everyone enough for making our stay a memorable occasion. The food , both breakfast and dinner were of a high quality, with professional , friendly service. The room was perfect, overlooking the river with a high standard of cleanliness , very much appreciated on our return each day. The terrace and bar is an ideal place to relax , and enjoy all the activity of the river, with a cool glass of something at the end of the day. Beccles is a small Suffolk town and the hotel is ideally located , giving walking access to all it has to offer. In order to really appreciate the hotel's river location we would highly recommend hiring a day boat, the views of the hotel whilst motoring by enhanced our visit . So much so we have already booked our return stay for next year. Highly recommend the hotel.

Lovey setting, lovely staff, lovely food. Had a great stay only wished it was longer. Spent 2 nights in this 15th century hotel and loved it. All the staff were pleasant and attentive, room was nice and big we could ask for more. Had one couple complaining about the squeaky floorboards and that they had a terrible nights sleep because of it….it’s 15th century ffs, they did seem happier when they got a discount, scammers!! Takes all types. Would defo recommend a stay here, live music on the river bank Friday night, well done to all.

We originally booked 3 nights & despite all the lovely pictures on the website we were given a tiny poky room right up in the eves, with a very small high window overlooking the car park, I could keep an eye on the car at least if I stood on my tiptoes. There was no walk in shower, barely a shower, just a bath with a hand held shower attachment you weren’t allowed to use standing up, no shower screen or curtain. There is no lift so we had to carry our bags up four small flights of old worn wonky stairs. Some would say quaint…We checked out the next morning & found somewhere else to stay. Breakfast area was nice overlooking the river but looked up to see those awful sail things fixed to the conservatory roof on the inside, not sure of their purpose but they held a lot of dead flies… lovely view for when you’re eating. 🤮

Hired for a funeral wake as easy to get to from the church.. Was told parking registration would be turned off and it wasn't. Room was expensive and food even more so for a few sandwiches not nicely presented and a few crisps, not even salad garnish to brighten the plates.. No vegetarian option and sandwiches all mixed up with different fillings on same plate and looked cheap supermarket bread Scones and cream nice although presentation was atrocious Host in the room was attentive but clearing plates before people finished and got the feeling we were being rushed even though had been told the room wasn't booked out again. Nice venue but wouldn't recomend.

Lovely setting next to river, sat outside because weather good, had steak which was nice but a bit over priced for what you got with it. Onion rings were lovely but why only half a mushroom? Watched a band in the evening and would visit again. Service was quick and efficient.

Fabulous place, location and staff. Visited before, always wonderful, first overnight stay in the hotel, in a fabulous riverside suite - room number 6. The suite and en-suite bathroom were really big, clean, unique, stylish and comfortable with beautiful, tranquil views. Wonderful on the riverside terrace. Lovely selection of food and drink, exemplary staff. Nice layout and choice of breakfast items, including nice freshly cooked choices, green tea and even some non - dairy, vegan options instead of dairy milk - if you asked. Large car park and pretty easy, and close to reach by train and bus. Fabulous. A real gem in a wonderful area and location, and close to some amazing areas. Thank you. Highly recommend.

What a great hotel and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. The location was excellent, right next to the river and breakfast was absolutely fantastic with a huge choice. We'll certainly be back next time we go that way. Thank you to everyone.

Stayed at The Waveney House Hotel for a couple of nights over the Coronation weekend our only regret is that we didn't stay longer but a good reason to come back. This is a independent Hotel in a wonderful position on the banks of the River Waveney, the staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed on a B&B basis and the breakfasts set you up for the day, plentiful and great choice & quality. We loved the various photos and pictures on the walls throughout the hotel especially the ones of the renovation which were fascinating. A lovely place to escape city life !
