The B&B can't be faulted. Beautiful clean rooms, comfortable bed, large bathroom with double bath and shower. My breakfast porridge was perfect and served in wonderful surroundings. The only downside for me was that you have to take the car to go out and eat in the evening - therefore no alcohol to drink! There are no convenient eateries within walking distance of the B&B.
If this is not a problem for you, then I can't recommend the B&B highly enough.

Thank you for your lovely review Chrissie. Stephen and I really enjoyed meeting you. Yes, it is essential to have your own transport if you wish to explore the area and dine out. The alcohol is a tricky one. However, many guests bring a bottle back with them and can enjoy it in the music room during the colder months, or in the courtyard when weather allows. Kindest Regards Helen and Stephen.

I have just returned from a 2 night stay at this stunning converted barn. The location was perfect as we were attending a wedding at a nearby venue. Helen and Stephen were the perfect hosts - friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean and had everything you needed for a weekend break. The breakfast was delicious and filling and set us up for the day. Would highly recommend if I was staying in the area again.

It's somewhat difficult to find the words to describe how tranquil, beautiful, welcoming and amazing the Suffolk Byre really is. But there, I've found a few. The decor in the rooms is stunning. The quality is perfect, much more than one would expect. Practilities; wifi is excellent. TV perfect. Shower, which is always important for anyone staying away from home, is great. The hosts? Can't say enough as to their generosity, friendliness and warmth. Helen and Stephen made us both feel special, despite us having a busy but lazy stay. If you want a perfect stay when visiting Suffolk, whether for a short stay or a few weeks to take in the area, then get yourself booked, you won't be disappointed.

We were lucky enough to stumble across this little gem whilst booking a place to stay for a wedding in the area. Set in glorious countryside the room we stayed in was immaculate, superb attention to detail, a fantastic bathroom and a bad that gave a great nights sleep.

Breakfast was included and was delicious. An incredible range of food and lovely toast from what I am fairly sure was home baked bread. The cooked breakfast was amazing, really tasty thick slices of quality bacon and sumptuous sausages all cooked to perfection.

However all this aside, what really makes the say is the hospitality and kindness of the owners. You simply could not wish to be looked after by a nicer couple. We hope to return at some point to explore more of the area.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Suffolk Byre courtyard apartment for 2 weeks. The apartment was spotless on arrival and very well furnished. The bathroom was very modern and the kitchen was well-equipped. The internet was extremely fast (perfect for working remotely)!

Stephen & Helen were the perfect hosts, they were friendly & always available for any questions we had.

I was sad to leave this beautiful place. We look forward to coming back!

Location:
- A short 15 minutes drive away from stunning Southwold
- Easy access to Beccles and surrounding supermarkets

A B&B that has all the amenities expected from the website.

Sadly no wi-fi when we visited, and it would have been helpful for the owners to let us know.

We could have been more comfortable if the room had been warm and we'd had the option to turn the radiators up or down. As it was the room and bathroom were cold for us and the radiators finally started to warm up at 7am the following morning.

Thank you for your review Jennifer. Stephen and I are truly sorry to read your comments on the Wifi and heating. Stephen tells me that when he helped you in with your luggage he explained that we had experienced the "perfect storm" the day before with losing our television signal due to the interference of 4G and our Wifi. Both of these problems were out of our control. We have subsequently had satellite television installed and hopefully the Wifi connection is better. With regards to the heating, your room has thermostats on the radiators and we keep the heating on until 10.30pm at 17C which is the recommended temperature. Stephen did say when you arrived to ask if you needed anything or had any questions. We sincerely hope that your short stay with us wasn't all bad and you have some positives to take away with you. It would be good for future guests to hear the good as well as the bad. Best wishes Helen and Stephen Blake

We had a superb stay here and without repeating all of the good expletives from the other reviews we highly recommend a stay here. Steven and Helen are a very talented couple and made our stay memorable. The work and thought they have put in to the property is shown by the amazing results inside and outside. There are plenty of things to do in the area, Beccles is a very interesting visit as is Southwold and RSPB at Minsmere. Definitely one to go back to.

We visited the Suffolk Byre as part of a birthday treat. From the first phone call to the final goodbye, Helen and Stephen did everything to make our night away as special and relaxing as possible. The room was not only beautiful, showcasing Stephen's woodworking skills, it was warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean. We had a peaceful night's sleep in the sumptuous bed and were greeted by a beautifully laid breakfast table in the morning with cereal and fresh fruit for starters. The full English breakfast was cooked to perfection by Helen, accompanied by endless cups of freshly brewed coffee. The Suffolk Byre is in a good location for exploring the local town of Beccles which is a lovely Suffolk market town by the River Waveney with goods cafes, restaurants and some interesting independent shops. The Norfolk Broads, Norwich and the coast are all close by too. Helen and Stephen are attentive and caring hosts and we left feeling like we'd stayed with friends. We shall definitely return and would recommend to anyone who enjoys a bit of luxury and pampering. Thank you Helen and Stephen.

Such a terrific place with warm welcoming owners who went so past the necessary to make our stay so good. Firstly they allowed us an early check in to be able get ready for a wedding and then provided us with a lift to the venue and arranged a taxi for evening return.

Then the next day helped us with our car due to battery needing a boost.

Our room was lovely, bright, clean and well finished. Reflected the property as a whole. Really quiet which is exactly what we needed in the morning.

Breakfast was also really good with selection of fruits and cereals before a full English and never felt rushed to leave like you get at some B&Bs.

Would recommend this for anyone visiting the area and we will certainly be returning at some point.
