When you get out of your car in the middle of azaleas in bloom, lavender fragrance and cicadas chirping, you realize that this is going to be a magical place. The staff is friendly, the room comfortable and exactly as described (and everything in it worked), and the food in the restaurant tasty and good value for money. Three nights were not enough!

Having planned to stay seven nights in Stresa before moving on to Umbria, the seventh night was changed to bring us here. We are SO glad we did - Stresa was wonderful and we were reluctant to leave, but the Italian motorways can be daunting! Podere san Giusto would be ideal for a week's Tuscan holiday - close to Florence, Siena and wider afield. We were welcomed despite only being here for one night.
The property is idyllic, in rolling Tuscan hills, it ha s several rooms which are modern, very clean and well ventilated/cool in hot weather. The hotel served dinner and breakfast, the former of which attracts local Italian patrons as well as us travellers. Beautiful food, with a "blackboard and chalk" menu that changes every day. I travelled 1000 miles to enjoy the Chinghiali that was n that night!
The property has several apartments for week-ling self-catering visitors. We will seriously consider returning on that basis. What a find!!!!

We had booked this Agriturismo hotel south of Florence for just one night en-route to Umbria and thought it would probably be ok. It was far far better than we could have expected for the reasonable price of £82 for the night. The place is utterly charming, our room was spotless and delightful in that low-key tiled floor, ceiling beams, white wall way that the Italian's do so well, with a comfy bed and a view out over the wondrous Tuscan countryside. Even better, there is a gorgeous swimming pool (take your own towels) and gardens to just sit in under olive trees and read. Breakfast was generous with local cold meats, cheeses etc.

But its the restaurant that excels. Book before you arrive, eat either inside or under umbrella's in the lovely courtyard. The food is seasonal, local and superbly cooked. It was the best dinner in three weeks in Italy! Particularly fabulous was the wild boar. We were greedy and shared the antipasti first course, then had a pasta each, then the boar and steak. Oh fabulous!

Just go, but stay longer than we did!!

This is an amazing place! a little off the beaten path for GPS so make sure you print a map of road from figurine valdarno to get here. Beautiful location. Sheltered free parking area. beautiful grounds. Rooms are very clean. Large bathrooms with sink, shower, bidet and toilet and shelving for toiletries. Large armoire closet and desk in room. Very comfortable bed. Amazing breakfast buffet each morning including cheese, meat, hardboiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, breads, juice, tea and coffee. The dinners each night were absolutely delicious from the appetizer, antipasti, to main course and dessert. Every night there were at least 3 main course offerings which were so tasty and well prepared. Service is so friendly and accommodating. would come back here in a heartbeat! Nearby to many wineries, but make sure you pre print or obtain a map at home as gps is not always great to find wineries as many listed only by road and not an address. Very central to many locations in Tuscany Chianti area. We traveled on day trips to Siena, San Gimignano Certaldo and two nearby wineries (Poggi del Chianti and for a tasting.
