Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We arrived at the attractive property at 5pm. We waited several minutes to be greeted because there was only one member of staff and she was serving behind the bar. She showed us to the lovely, large Elton bedroom. It was quite dark but I’d expect this in a thatched property. The bed was large and comfortable; the linen was okay but for £260 a night I would expect it to be better quality. The bathroom was very poor. A broken bath panel, mouldy grout and sealant, a filthy glass screen seal, frayed white towels which had a blue tinge. Not a £260 bathroom! The breakfast was very good and served in a sweet room off the bar. However the dinner, at £40pp extra, was average. I ordered crispy beef which wasn’t crispy at all and the duck was quite dry. When I mentioned it to the waitress all she said was ‘I’ll tell the chef’. I did try to speak to someone about our issues as we left, but I couldn’t find anyone. I had to leave the room key on a table. In total we paid £340 for two people for dinner, bed and breakfast in a small village, not in a very touristy place and to be honest, I felt ripped off.

The Sunday lunch was delicious and the staff polite and friendly. The dining area is very well presented. One of our group is diary free and the staff were very accommodating. The only point I would raise is a small choice of deserts but what there were was very small nice. We throughly enjoyed our time.

We stayed overnight on a Monday for a quick break away. It was remarkable from start to finish. We had the Burghley room and it was fantastic from start to finish. The room was spacious with its own private courtyard garden. The staff were incredible and I couldn’t fault the stay. We will definitely be returning.

Loved our stay here, we had a 1 night stay in Wadenhoe- a great room away from the main pub. It was beautifully furnished and the little touches like the milk in the fridge was an added bonus. We ate in the restaurant- lots of choice- the meal was one of the best I have had recently. The service was excellent and we enjoyed a leisurely meal. Breakfast- again excellent- a good choice and the service was great. I really couldn’t fault our stay. If we are ever back in the area , would definitely go back.

My family and I spent a night at The Crown Inn to celebrate my 70th Birthday on 30th May 2022 and I have to say it was a super place to stay and we couldn't fault the service we received. As it was a special occasion the owners accommodated us on a Monday, when they are usually closed to residents, so we virtually had the place to ourselves....for this we were extremely grateful, thank you! We were provided with a lovely cream tea on arrival, a gorgeous dinner in the evening and a hearty breakfast in the morning. The staff were so pleasant, helpful and attentive at all times which made all the difference...thank you all! The accommodation was fab' too; spotlessly clean luxurious rooms all individually themed and so comfortable. Would thoroughly recommend this lovely Inn for a warm and cosy experience! Kate and Tony

Beautifully, occasionally quirkily, styled rooms with nice little touches like fresh milk in the fridge, coffee machine, lovely biscuits. quiet rooms in an extension behind the pub, situated in a lovely rural village, but only 3 miles from the East of England showground. Amazing bathroom in Fotheringay, big comfy bed. Breakfast was great, freshly cooked to order. Not the cheapest, but definitely value for money. Would definitely recommend and hope to return.

booked this small pub/hotel as we were working at the game fair at Burghley House which was only 20 minutes away . set in a nice quiet village amongst a lovely setting . room was set in a nice courtyard at the back of the pub . room was lovely and clean and a good standard . stayed for 3 nights and had dinner all 3 nights . food and service was excellent . breakfast was also very good and freshly cooked . the thing that really give this place a top rating is the staff . nothing ever too much and very polite . thank you all and hopefully see you all next year . 10/10 all round .

Me, My Mum, Mother-In-Law & Friend recently stayed over to celebrate My Hen-Night. We was looked after very well by Tracy & Layla, who made Our Night that bit more Fun, as They Both might as well of been Part of Our Party, They where a Great Laugh and Tracy made the most delicious Cocktail and a Cheeky Shot for Myself which went down a treat. The Food was Delicious and Beautifully Presented, Compliments to The Chef. The Staff went out of Their way for Us all, alnight & the Breakfast in the Morning was also Delicious. Thankyou All for an Enjoyable Time & Stay, I'll be sure to return at some point in the Future.

Lovely place to stay, accommodation both clean and very well maintained. Staff are friendly and welcoming and couldn’t have been more comfortable. Had the pleasure of meeting the owner as unfortunately needed to leave super early, would have loved to have stayed for breakfast!
